In an age where access to technology has nearly become a necessity for average Americans, practicing medicine using technology has branched out to become a workable system where jobs are increasing due to the transition from physical work to long distance. Telenursing defined as using technology to conduct nursing practice, allows for nursing to change with its patients needs as many people are homebound and are not able to leave their homes and also as more technology is implimented into health. While one may choose to pursue a career in the classic form of nursing, it could prove just as beneficial to work in telenursing, and though that is true telenursing has its negatives as well. The person-to-person contact that is committed to patients by nurses tends to bring about positive response mentally and physically. The use of telenursing however does have counterpoints to the negatives of the lack of physicality associated with the job. Being more cost effective, timely, and widespread and accessible to all citizens are all advantages. Additionally they are not forced to pay the co-pays due in office at a physicians. They could simply remain in the comfort of their own home and receive the same information and simple procedures that one might if they went for a check-up. Many people refuse to go to the doctor for the costs of insurance, or cannot get an appointment soon enough. However if telenursing was to be used then it would clear up the massive queue of patients waiting for checkups and minor appointments. Preventive medicine would be easier because people would not be released from the hospital as quickly after recovering from an illness or surgery which would reassure the patient that are no longer ill and that side affects experienced are normal. This avoids having to revisit the hospital because of re-injury, or infections that could've been detected via the remote diagnostics that are entailed in the telehealth field. This means for Manuel, he may be required as a part of this job to call and check in with patients, to remotely monitor those who suffer from chronic
