The Real Reason

The Real Reason
Video Game Violence has been a controversial topic for many years, Beginning with the simple, classic games like Pac-Man, Centipede and Street Fighter, And continuing today with the more modern games like the Grand Theft Auto series and the Call of Duty series. Adults naturally want to blame something or someone when the violent situations happens. Many factor can be attributed to why a teen or child has committed a crime and people seem to want to steer the focus on video games. There are a lot more factors that play into that like bullying, lifestyle, or the environment they live in. Video games play a small part in the development of child behavior. Creators of video games and stores have put age limits on who can buy their products to keep children away from the games that contains drugs, sex, and violence. This method is the most effective way to help prevent minor from seeing adult content at a young age. Companies like Microsoft and Sony have a paternal control system on their consoles that will not let you play certain type of games without a password. Many moves have been made to limit the underage use of adult video games.
There is violence everywhere in life there is nothing you can link a school shooting, or rape etc. to a video game. There is not one video game that promotes school shootings or rape. The education system needs to educate the student about what this world is because it is not all sunshine and rainbows. There is ugly and kids need to be taught what’s happening in the world. Most cases of a school shooting is bullying, bombings religion or political, rape is usually someone with a medical problem. Picking up a controller and slicing up some zombies after a long stressful day at school is not going to set you on a killing spree because you died at level 9. There are major parts that are ignored because it would be too difficult to fix. If people focus more on child control, community stability, and education, it would benefit more than changing a video game that is played 13.2 hours out of 168 hours a week (Anderson, 2001 ).
Were adults get mixed up about video games and violence is in the definition and how they see it. “Studies show that when children and young adults play violent video games their aggressive behavior increases. 59% of fourth grade girls and 73% of fourth grade boys say that the majority of their favorite video games are violent” (Anderson, 2001). Violence doesn’t have a specific definition that is set to tell anyone what exactly is violence. Violence is the unlawful exercise of physical force or intimidation by the exhibition of such force. Most kids love superheroes, there room is filled with Superman, Batman, and Ironman etc. They beg their parents for the new batman game that is filled with beating up bad guys and saving the world or a girl, is this labeled as violence? This has nothing to do with a child going on a killing spree at school because students are picking on him. Games with real violence are games like the GTA series. This specific type of game includes sex, drugs, money and violence. In order to purchase a game with explicit content the age limit is 18 and the child’s parent age have to be present in the purchase. Many games have parental control that allows user to control and change the game to their liking. Some examples Of this control would be able to enable or disable certain things within the game like blood, music, and language. With these types of controls, the graphic content is controlled. In fact, a recent study showed that “Children who spent more time playing video games were more active overall and playing was not at the expense of other activities. No relationship between video game play and aggressive behavior was found. Children who played video games more often were found to have a significantly higher IQ” (Van Schie, E. & Wiegman). On April 26, 2002, a school massacre happened in Erfurt Germany. A former 19-year-old student fired into the heads of teachers, killing 13 of them. He also killed 2 students, a secretary, and a policeman. It was later learned that the student had been planning this event for over a year. He was attending intense target practicing at Erfurt combat gun club. The games he played were Doom, Ninja, and Counterstrike. These games do have violence in them blood, killing, and weapons. Doom is a scary game based on the comic, in which the characters are stuck on a ship that gets invaded by monsters. Ninja is another game based on a comic and the hero attempts to protect the city from villains and monsters. The last game Counterstrike, is an online game that you can play with and against other players around the world. It is a war based game that’s main objective is to beat the opponent, Whether you choose to kill or capture the enemy depends objectives it all depends on what game mode was selected. None of these games promote school shootings or increase a person’s knowledge of how combat works. Parents need to take more control in their kids life’s because if they were visible in their life it would affect dramatic changes. Something as small as eating dinner with your child can help sculpt his behavior. “Children who together as a “family are more likely to understand, acknowledge, and follow the boundaries and expectations set by their parents. A decrease in high-risk behaviors is related to the amount of time spent with family” (J. Lyttle and E. Baugh, 2011). Any way to can get into your child’s life will benefit them on how they grow up. There should be a structure set in the home that the kids have to abide by so they know right from wrong. Control in the house is a big key. A set of limits or rules need to be emplaced and as they get older and more knowledgeable of life some rules and be dropped or added in order to create a “sense of security and togetherness. “The sense of security and togetherness provided by family meals helps nurture children into healthy, well-rounded adults. Which also has a positive impact on children's values, motivation, personal identity, and self-esteem” (J. Lyttle and E. Baugh, 2011). It isn’t parents alone who can affect change. The community has an influence as well Parents need to be able to rely on the community they live in to play a part in developing children. Places like the schools, and afterschool programs need to be more reliable and careful on how they treat the kids and what goes on at their facility. A lot of bullying happens at school and kids have a hard time attending school because they are afraid of some of the students at school. “Bully/victim problems among six classes of 8–9 year-old and six classes of 11–12 year-old children, attending three middle schools, were investigated by means of Olweus's self-report Bullying Inventory. About 21 per cent of the children reported being bullied” (Boulton, Michael J). This needs to be the main source that should be focused on to help limit school shootings or any crime for that matter. Parents and schools need to be more aware of this and take action. Schools have to be able to more reliable to take care of the students and are stopping the behavior before it escalades and let the parents of who were involved what happen. Parents need to be in there kids life more to witness how the child reacts to school or in front of other children, and do what’s necessary to help the child out in any situation that they get into. Sitting with the child and asking about how school was will get them to open up on what’s going on. Children are getting exposed to things in life earlier than in the past, and that will shape them on how life is, and how they should act because that’s all they know. If you want behaviors to change people have to target the right things to attack and change. Video games should not be a main target but could be used to help look at the bigger picture. That is that community, environment, and family control will drastically change the result in the behavior in kids and limit the crimes that are committed by the youth. Children that are in bad situations have a concrete belief that the way they are living is the best and only way to live life. If a child is growing up in a bad environment that provides them examples of violence, fear, depression, drugs, etc, it will have a major impact on how they develop. If there is usually. that’s how they are growing up and there is usually no structure in there house hold so they are accustomed to acting the way they do. Schools do not do much with a child that has developed disciplinary issues rather than just dumping him or her to a more structured physical school that is certified to be more hands on with a child. The kids in these type of situation are not shown but told what’s going to happen to them. This could improve how they act if parents or guardians showed educated there kid on behavior. A lot of kids see how their parents act and how there community is living and don’t really know another way on how to live.

...GDP Research Paper The definition of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) defines aggregate output as the dollar value of all final goods and services produced within the borders of a country during a specific period of time, typically a year, while the real GDP is the GDP that has been deflated or inflated to reflect changes in the price level (McConnell, C. (2011). Macroeconomics [VitalSouce bookshelf version]. Retrieved from http://online.vitalsource.com/books/1259174522/epubcfi/6/52). According to BEA, the growth of real GDP decreased one percent in the first quarter of 2014, in the fourth quarter of 2013, the growth of real GDP increased two point six percent (News Release: Gross Domestic Product. (n.d.). News Release: Gross Domestic Product. Retrieved June 23, 2014, from http://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/national/gdp/gdpnewsrelease.htm). The trends in the growth of real GDP is very unstable. For example, in 2010, the GDP kept growing, but the extent seemed to become lower; The first quarter of 2011 was negative, but then the growth in real GDP became positive; In 2012, the growth in real GDP was always positive, merely the fourth quarter’s growth was hardly to be aware; 2013 was a very successful year, the growth in GDP was significant; Unfortunately, the first quarter in 2014 was negative. Rationalism and Empiricism

...ultimate source of knowledge? Or: How do we gain knowledge? They are rationalism and empiricism. Rationalism states that we depend on our reason capacities to gain real knowledge, which is inborn, independent and could not be determined by human beings. The most famous rationalist, Plato, contributes to metaphysics and epistemology. He explains his theory by using the example prisoners in a cave. The conclusion is that cognition comes from the appearance of the world not the reality. According to Plato, there exist two worlds: the real world and a supernatural realm which contains the eternal and perfect Forms. Everything we get from the real world is a reflection of the supernatural hence the essence is invisible. Reason is the only way in which we get the essence of appearance. Based on Plato’s metaphysics, Parmenides and Heraclites assert diverse opinions. Parmenides assumes that being is real and change is the characteristic of being while Heraclites considers change is real while being is not. Plato also holds the view that human beings are born with knowledge, and the immortal soul belongs to the supernatural. That we use our reasoning capacities to recover from the knowledge known before is called learning-by-recollection. On the other hand, there exists empiricism, represented by Aristotle who states that the source of knowledge is not reason but sensory experience. He disagrees with Plato’s two-worlds theory. For him, there is only one world--the natural world and no higher...

Pascal's Wager Rhetorical Analysis

...and a Roman Catholic. The Libertines were a group of people during Pascal’s time that regarded reason as their guide with respect to religion. In Pascal’s Wager, a piece that he wrote to the Libertines, he explains not why God is real, but why we should believe in God. The Libertines disagreed by saying, “Since it is impossible to know if there is a God, then there is no reason for me to choose one way or the other.” (101) Pascal refuted this argument by stating that we, as humans, must make a choice to either believe or not to believe in God. Being agnostic is not plausible, Pascal states, since the actions of being agnostic are the same as being atheist. Pascal then states how believing in God is the only option that makes sense because if God does not exist, then there is no loss. However, if God does exist, then we either gain eternal happiness for believing, or an infinite amount of time living an infinitely horrible...

Area 51 Conspiracy Theories

...Area 51 is a secret military base out in the Nevada, Las Vegas. There is a lot of conspiracy theories on this topic but the majority of people believe that area 51 and Aliens are real. There are a few reasons to back up this theory. These reasons are based on research such as based on people's accounts or town/city accounts. Two main reasons back up this theory. First off, a claim for this theory is Area 51 is real because they have the locations for it. Evidence to show this is "Area 51, s Nev., c. 80miles" Its located within the U.S. Airforce's enormous Nevada test and training range. These pieces of evidence show they have the locations because its tells exactly where the "air force" base is. Is this the real locations of the base? Secondly,...

Summary Of Eleonore Stump's Mirror Of Evil

...In Eleonore Stump’s “Mirror of Evil”, she presents how the evil in the world acts as a mirror by telling us things about ourselves. Stump discerns between two types of evil that are found in the world, which are real wickedness and garden-variety moral evil. “Real wickedness” is explained as sharp and felt immediately, while “garden variety” evil is felt much less than this. For Stump all of us have a way to determine what is evil or not, and this is our moral faculty. Moral faculty allows us to know what evil is but also what true goodness is. Our moral faculty states that we know things are evil or truly good solely on our intuition, which is unaffected by our memory, reason or perception. Stump presents many good reasons to believe that...

Truth and Reality; Are They Mere Mind Created ?

...Truth and Reality: Are our versions mere mind-created, or real ? Can we ever distinguish actual reality from the synthetic models that mind create ? Or, can we ever know any reality other than what our minds create ? If we clinically analyse the total contents of our mind, we will find that it is a mix of many things that we consider as real, and equal number of things that we know as mere manufactured products of we,or that of the human community in general.  What we naively consider as real are objects and relations that we have seen, heard, touched, tasted or smelt. We had learned this criterion of assessing reality from our primeval days when mind was not developed to perceive anything beyond what were just in-front the sense-organs. Animals are still in worlds of reality. Now, man's this category of reality also consists the various scientific facts, that we believe, our prestigious men of science must have either directly observed through their special instruments, or inferred over strong evidences they must have collected through their various false-proof methods. In the last fifteen years, post liberalization of the economy, Indian real estate business has taken an upturn and is expected to grow from the current USD 14 billion to a USD 102 billion in the next 10 years. This growth can be attributed to favourable demographics, increasing purchasing power, existence of customer friendly banks & housing finance companies, professionalism in real estate and favourable reforms initiated by the government to attract global investors. Reason for growth Growing Market Demand and their drivers • Realization of large commercial projects • IPOs by developers • Gradual organization of the markets in the Tier I cities Greater availability of information • Transparency and liquidity improved manifolds • Entry of international real estate builders and consultancies • Governing legal framework relaxed • Entry of more players has lead to increased level of competition and competitive pricing The property market in India has been unorganized and fragmented for many years. Letter About Dual Agency

...February 10, 2010 Ms. Amanda Walton Longwood University Dept. of EML 201 High St. Farmville, VA 23909 Dear Ms. Walton Virginia allows houses to be sold through a dual agent or dual agency, where as it is illegal in certain states. Dual agency is a situation where a real estate agent or agency represents both the buyer and the seller of a home. Dual agents or agencies create a great conflict of interest and should be made illegal in the state of Virginia to ensure that people who depend on real estate agencies to buy or sell homes get a fair price and that their agency does its due diligence to do get that fair price. When you go to sell your home would you want to have some worries in the back of your mind about if you got low balled by your real estate agent? Or when you buy a home is the agent trying to make you pay a higher price then you really have to? This is a worry most Americans have when selling or buying a home, but this problem is only intensified by the dual agency situation. The definition of a dual agent, according to homebuying.about.com, is “A real estate agent who has signed a buyer agency agreement with a buyer who wishes to purchase a listing held by the agent or the agent’s firm. A dual agent must be loyal to both the buyer and the seller.” The part where the agent must be loyal to both customers is where the problem arises. There is a huge conflict of interest as the agent has a responsibility to the seller to get the highest price...

Video Game Violence Is Bad Essay

...To many have died to recreate violence even if it is just a game. Violence simulated games are a dangerous and irresponsible thing for people of any age to be apart of. One reason simulated violence is destructive is because it glorifies violence. Violence and death is nothing to be proud of but these games train minds into thinking it is. Another reason these games are bad is the way it switches people into a violent mindset. These mindsets can lead to real life violence, the only difference is in real life you don't respawn. The most dangerous component to violence simulation is the fake weapons. Fake weapons can easily be confused with real weapons, putting everyone in danger. Violence simulation is nothing to be joked about and is something children and teens alike should stay away from. One reason simulated violence is bad is because it glorifies violence. ...METAPHYSICS A. What’s Real in Metaphysics The reality about metaphysics; in philosophy; is the flow of flux. The reality that can’t be changed; but you may be curious about an always changing world; that wants to deal with a reality that isn’t changeable. This world; which is contingent; is imperfect in an aesthetic moral way. This goes after reality, because it’s awesome and unique. This phase refers back to Plato, where’s the concept, that the world is “real” and more “factual”; plus, the fantasy world we live in, as of our embodied frame of mind. Our universe has many correct forms. With relations to this, it’s hard to explain correctly; so how they’re not both in common, be kin in any other way. How can you tell from the “really real”, and the “want to be real”? You can examine the perception, which will show the lines of metaphysics realness, and not the outcome of regular skills. With skills, we find objects and forces, that are perceptional, and none perceptional; that we can keep intake. We find a universe that’s always changing. Idols are conceived, breathed, and ended.
