Over the past ten years, The Walking Dead have been the most popular TV show. The Walking Dead is an American horror drama television series developed by Frank Darabont, based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The Walking Dead premiered in the United States on October 31, 2010, shown on cable television channel and internationally on Fox International Channels. The Walking dead is my favorite TV show because when you watch the show, you will never know what will happen next and that’s what is making it so interesting and exciting to watch. In my opinion, this TV show is one of the best TV series I have ever seen. The Prison Break is also one of my favorite TV show over the past ten

Bigfoot

...parts of the world. While most legends are told and brushed off as simply crazy stories, the legend of Bigfoot has caused much debate and investigation into the truth behind the stories of the giant ape-like animal. Many scientists have studied the supposed evidence of Bigfoot and the stories that have been told about the creature. For years, the research into the existence of Bigfoot has gone on with no conclusive evidence being found to prove the existence or non-existence of such an animal. As the questions remain, the legend of Bigfoot lives on and continues to grow from year to year. The stories and evidence provided in this paper are all from David Jenkins’ personal collection and experiences. David Jenkins was my zoology teacher in tenth grade, my biology teacher in eleventh grade, and finally my marine biology teacher my senior year. Mr. Jenkins has gone to church with my family and I since I can remember. He is a science teacher by trade, but is also a legitimate Bigfoot researcher and is affiliated with the Bigfoot Field Research Organization. When I spoke to Mr. Jenkins in May 2013, that I would be writing a research paper on the subject of Bigfoot, he was more than pleased to help me. BIGFOOT: LEGEND OR FACT? 3 When people hear talk...

Windshield Paper

...Windshield Survey Assessment Paper Windshield Survey Assessment Paper Physical The city of Victorville began in 1962 and started off with a population of 8,000 that has grown to be a population of 121,000, and continues to grow (92392 Zip Code Population and Races, n.d.). The condition of the houses appear to be in mint condition with the exception of some homes in the area of El Evado and Pacoima that have lawns that are dead and full of weeds.  The paint on these homes are chipped and not well kept. There are many apartments in Victorville that appear to look old on the outside, but each apartment building has been renovated to look more twenty first century. There aren't many abandoned houses in the city of Victorville but there abandoned vehicles in front of houses that have oxidized paint and dust covering them. The houses in the neighborhoods are very similar in their layout, the only difference each house has is the color of the paint on outside of the house. Some residents have also added on additions to their homes such as extra rooms or in ground pools, which have raised the equity in these homes. There is one abandoned building that stands out in Victorville and that is because it is in a shopping center that has flourishing businesses within that same parking lot that use to be an Albertsons. This building has been empty for a couple years and is located on Bear Valley and Amargosa. There is a large number of stray dogs in Victorville due to the faulty wooden...

School Shootings

...facility. It may also refer to shootings near or on a school bus or near a school when it is in session. School shootings could occur anywhere in the world where firearms are available for access. These types of shootings in particular have generated a political dispute on stricter gun control. There are well known shootings in the United States, Europe, Canada, and other countries. The United States has the highest number of school related shootings. This paper will examine a few of those incidents and compare how the media and academic articles portray them. Overall, media articles show that coverage of school shooting events such as the ones that occurred at Virginia Tech University and Sandy Hook Elementary School tend to primarily focus on the number of victims, reactions of family, the misfortune of the event, as well as the mental state and background of the shootings. For an example, in the Los Angeles Times article “Gunman kills 20 kids, 6 adults at Connecticut elementary school”, they focus on the number of dead, imagery, and the emotion after the shooting such as parent’s reactions and children’s reactions. In the article they seem to dramatize the whole situation by saying things like “Evil visited this community today”. Although it is a tragic event the media seems to focus more on the issue of numbers and emotion. I think that the media might focus on the numbers to catch the reader’s attention. The media does not attempt to look into the reasoning why this person...

How the Zombie Apocalypse Is Totally Possible.

...How Zombies Could Actually Happen: A Research Paper Imagine a person infected with a disease to the point that they are some how no longer who they were before. The disease would take over the brain and make the body do only one thing, infect others. Sounds like a bad horror movie? Well think again. There are plenty of viruses, fungi, parasites, and chemicals in the world that affect the brain already and could cause such a thing to happen. The “zombie” wouldn’t be eating brains but it would want to spread the virus. Who is to say that a virus cannot mutate into something horrendous. This essay will show you that there are viruses, fungi, parasites, and chemicals that either can or have the potential to make people or animals into walking dead. Where did the idea of zombies come from? Zombies originated in Haiti as a sort of voodoo slave labor. What would happen was the person would be fed or rubbed with a mixture of the skin of the common toad and puffer fish. The skin of the common toad can actually kill people but the important part of it is that it is an incredibly strong pain killer. The puffer fish is extremely poisonous. It puts you in a coma in a near death state. People in Haiti are buried very soon after death and would be in the ground in less than 8 hours. The “dead person” would be dug up and fed datura, a plant with mind blowing after affects. According to Scientist Karl Kruszelnicki “Datura breaks your links with reality, and then destroys all recent memories...

That fuzzy and pitch-black place with a nostalgic hymn of the approaching dying twilight is already filled with his desire to wake up from his endless nightmare. Holding a golden ring on his right hand, he is calmly watching over the horizon as he tries to feel better, but he cannot for he is still caged within the memories of the wicked past and within the present catastrophe. He gradually leaned his back to that mango tree where their chained names are carved inside a heart. For the past 99 days, it has been his desperate habit to wait there for the coming of that person whom he knows will never arrive. Then liquids of emotions flowed out of his vision as his heart drowns with it. Nothing can comfort him since when that peak of joy bounced him out and turned him to be a man he is now. He was never insane yet he doesn’t already know of whom he is and even the people around him; he is just hopeless and unable to keep step of what happened for the past year. Grief and fear never left him and continued to slaved him and took control over his moral and physical character which paved him to be a ‘hard to decipher person’. However, he still lives for he has still an inch of dignity despite of great loneliness. Moreover, his heart is still shouting aloud saying, “I will never leave you..”  Chapter I  It’s Saturday. African American Victimisation by the Criminal Justice System

...during the 1960’s in a bid to end racism. For years these men under the African- American Civil Rights movement advocated for equality for all leading to the ‘end’ of racist perceptions. Today, the belief that their efforts halted racism stands to be questioned, on further examination of this subject it is eminent that racism is still existent in the twenty- first century. Racism has simply found ways of adapting to our daily activities thus dodging the common eye. To achieve this, racism has gradually encroached into fields such as education where coloured students experience disproportionality in disciplinary measures and in the criminal justice system where African Americans are inevitably the victims of the criminal justice system. This paper thus seeks to succinctly discuss the...

Chinese Spirit Mediumship in Urban Malaysia

...R. Lee Continuity and change in Chinese spirit mediumship in urban Malaysia In: Bijdragen tot de Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde 142 (1986), no: 2/3, Leiden, 198-214 This PDF-file was downloaded from http://www.kitlv-journals.nl RAYMOND L. M. LEE CONTINUITY AND CHANGE IN CHINESE SPIRIT MEDIUMSHIP IN URBAN MALAYSIA The spirit medium occupies an important position in popular Chinese religion. As an arbiter between the spiritual and the mundane world, he not only provides services in healing and divination but also performs vital roles at temple and spirit festivals. The history of Chinese spirit mediumship can be traced to the Shang Dynasty of the second millennium B.C., where priest-shamans (wu) were accorded high official standing in the imperial courts, until their decline in the late Chou period in the third century B.C.1 However, spirit mediumship did not become obsolete but continued to be practised at the popular level (Yang 1967: 106, 303). Few reports of spirit mediumship in modern China have appeared in print, except for the detailed observations of De Groot (1964) made in the southern provinces in the late nineteenth century. Since then, most anthropologists have studied Chinese spirit mediumship in various Chinese communities, particularly in Taiwan (Jordan 1972, Seaman 1978, Kleinman 1980) and Hong Kong (Potter 1974). Spirit mediumship is also practised in various Chinese communities in Southeast Asia, but few ethnographies have been published...

...fall short of the glory of God," (Rom. 3:23); "For the wages of sin is death," (Rom. 6:23); "But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God," (Isaiah 59:2). 3. Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's sin. "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me" (John 14:6); "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us," (Rom. 5:8). 4. We must individually receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name," (John 1:12); "if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved," (Rom. 10:9); "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God," (Eph. 2:8). (Slick) The advantage of using this method is it is clean, cut and dry, basically direct and to the point. It is very direct and the scriptures used are very familiar scripture in the everyday walk and travels of a believer. We all know John 3:16, it is one of the very first verse of scripture we learn as a child or as a new believer because it carry so much weight and shows the true love of God. Once you have salvation you are taught and it is drilled into each of...

The Vulnerable Observer Behar Summary

...Ruth Behar’s book, The Vulnerable Observer: Anthropology That Breaks Your Heart, stands in direct contrast to the majority of anthropological texts. In it, she adds her own voice to her experiences doing field research. In doing so, she attempts to add to the context that her research occurred in. Instead of trying to maintain a strictly objective stance in relaying events from the field, Behar includes herself in her writing and her studying to enrich the experience for the reader. Reading The Vulnerable Observer takes the reader on a journey through the intersection of Behar’s professional and personal life, and how one informed the other. Each chapter deals with a different field experience, as well as what she was experiencing personally...

Super Soldiers

...Science Fiction’s ideas have always been part of many people’s conspiracies throughout the years. Whether it is raising the dead or aliens are among us. In this paper, I will be talking about one of science fictions classic conspiracy theories, Super Soldiers. When I say Super Soldiers, I mean the kinds that were genetically enhance. I have found that when someone hears “super soldiers’ their minds automatically go to Captain America or Master Chief from the Halo game series. Captain America started as a small lanky soldier that gotten injected with some type of serum that turns him in to the perfect solider. Master Chief taken from his family as a child and was train for eight years before scientist started their genetic testing. Is the military trying to make their own Captain America and Master Chief with a few extra abilities? If so, who is leading the testing and what types of powers are they trying to give to our soldiers? To try to answer these questions I had to start with where did this conspiracy stemmed from. The Beginning of the End by Micheal T. Snyder has led me to the DARPA (the defense advanced research projects agency). Let us have a quick insight into this agency.
