All this is hinged on an understanding of a childlike state in a reader or learner, and that we as a teacher have achieved an adult status in the skill. This idea can be seen in chapter 5 of the class reading, “The world Turned Within”, by Steedman. Also stated in this reading is “the capability for development and change” (Steedman,1995) are key features of childhood or a child-like state. This brings to mind the concept of the construction of child, or what does it mean to be a child. Certainly, the answer to that question must be a fluid one.
