...Vehicles………………………………………...…………………………….……………………7 Verifiers…………………………………………………………………….……………………10 Conclusion……………………………………………………………………….………..……..11 Bibliography………………………………………………………...…….……………………..12 Introduction Winning souls for Christ is more than lip service; it is action. My local church is known as “The Family Place.” Even as God created man out of a desire for a family, we win souls for Christ, then we share the love of family with them so that they remain rooted and grounded in Him. By embracing each person as a part of our family, we are able to build relationships that last a lifetime. In order to improve upon our church’s plan to develop disciples for Jesus Christ, the following disciple making plan will be presented to the senior leadership. This plan will include an in-depth evaluation of our vision, values, views, vehicles, and verifiers. This action plan will revitalize our evangelistic ministry by explaining the importance of each phase and how we can increase our overall effectiveness Vision According to Proverbs 29:18, where there is no vision, a ministry, which consists of people, will die. Thankfully, our church has a vision. The vision of our church is as follows: The vision of my church is to advance the body of Christ in fulfilling the Great Commission and to E.Q.U.I.P. them by: * Establishing local,...

...Joshua Roberts CM 101: Youth Ministry Philosophy & Leadership 17 May 2015 My Philosophy for Youth Ministry I believe that youth ministry is vital to the growth and effectiveness of the church—local and universal. In order for the church to grow, the adult generations of the church needs to insure the faith by training children and young adults “in the nurture and admonition of the Lord”(Ephesians 6:4). When the youth of the church are not taught the importance of a vibrant and active relationship with God, then the church will see its ranks become thin and aged. With age comes wisdom and experience, but with youth comes energy and determination. In order for the church to be effective it must see youth ministry as a vital part of the body. Since the church needs youth ministry, it is important that the youth ministry itself has a vision and structure to provide organization to reach goals and growth. I believe that youth ministry needs to focus on three key goals or values in order to be effective in the local church. These values are to connect, grow, and serve. These three values will provide structure and vision to ensure a healthy youth ministry. The first area that one should start with when building a youth ministry that will be profitable to the church and its families is connection. We need to make sure that our teens and parents of teens are connecting with God and others. Connecting with God is the base foundation that any believer should be building upon...

...EKALESIA LOCAL CHURCH COMPARISON GROUP PROJECT: KEALAOKAMALAMALAMA CHURCH We interviewed the kahu of the church, Kina Akana. The church we went to was Kealaokamalamalama Church, a Hawaiian Christian church. Scripture is used in their church every Sunday morning when they have service or convention. Each day they recite one of the scriptures in the bible and present it to their whole group. After they present it, they talk about the true meaning of it and give realistic examples of what it means. They have the youth present in front of all of them to sing a song after they recite a verse of scripture to learn except to recite it in Hawaiian. They want all the younger generations to have more faith in God and see the true God they may have...

...Patrick Pastor Shayne Michael Daughenbaugh Introduction to Youth Ministry May 1, 2014 YOUTH MINISTRY FINAL Many might ask, why is youth ministry important in the church? The answer to this question is very easy, and it is because youth are the leaders, makers, and team members of the future. They are energetic, mature and smart enough to help with a lot of things like, setting up for church, spreading the word of God to the community. It is also necessary because it helps to have important relationships between youth and the youth workers; and youth to youth themselves, it makes great friendships. Going back to the given scenario, of just moving to a new church and want get involved in their YM. When I first get there I have to first learn how things work there. Get to know the people that are already working with the youth if there is any and get to know the youth in the church. As I am observing how things work I need to be asking be keeping my self in check by regularly checking my motives and my heart. Making sure that on my side everything is good with my spiritual life and also I am in good terms with my family. After making sure that I am set and God has given me the go ahead sign. Then I will go and suggest some ideas to the youth leaders that are already trying to pursue the job. Now lets say this church is a Tanzanian church. I am more that 90% sure that there is no church out there that is doing youth ministry that has to do with relational ministry. I know this...

...Running head: YOUTH MINISTRY YESTERDAY AND TODAY Youth Ministry Yesterday and Today Melonie Johnson Grand Canyon University Issues in Contemporary Youth Ministry MIN476 May 06, 2010 Youth Ministry Yesterday and Today Youth ministry is not the same today as it was yesterday. Starting out originally for the sole purpose of teaching youth to read the Bible, it has evolved into a ministry for teaching youth a lifestyle for Christ. Although the mission is to develop disciples for Christ, youth pastors seem to be losing many youth to the ways of the world. In New England people wanted to start educating their children, and change their sinful nature (Senter, 2010, p. 5). Sunday school started hundreds of years ago, before child labor laws. Children were working during the week, and on Sundays they were not doing anything productive and people were worried (Senter, p. 7). The pastors at the church generally treated youth no differently than they did adults (Senter, p. 8). Many parents did not want their children to attend the Sunday school for fear of persecution (Senter, p. 5). This is how Sunday school started, and originally it was establish to teach youth the skills of reading the Bible. During the early 19th century, adults wanted to establish Bible lessons to keep youth out of trouble, and this evolved into youth having their own church service separate from adults (Senter). Pastors began to treat the youth as young adults, but not equal to adults (Senter)....

...THE CHRISTAIN EDUCATION OF YOUTH A study of the history of professional youth ministry shows that over the years they come a long way. In the late 1950s churches began to invest significantly in salary funds in staff positions for youth ministry before that the youth ministry was done by mostly volunteer workers who were unqualified and poorly trained. Also it can be said that evangelical churches grudgingly instituted the youth ministry because they feared that Para church organization would take the youth away from the churches. GAINING A SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE Youth ministry in the 1950s was a calculated attempt of countering the influence of secular entertainment on Christian youth and they introduced 1. Christian film in the hopes that to be a possible alternative to movies in secular theaters. 2. High powered recreational and social programs were developed as an alternative to school dances 3. Large rallies were organized in major cities with famous Christian entertainer as a way to convince youth that they could be Christians and still be popular and well liked In the 1950s entertainment was used to retain youth within the church .The 1960s was a landmark decade in the country. The church’s approach to youth ministry was greatly affected by the sociological and cultural times. Youth in the country began to demonstrate that they cared greatly about the issues related to the world they lived. Those involved in youth ministry realized that young...

...Youth Pastor Interview By Brian Weathers It takes a special kind of person to want to lead the young people in today’s society/ I have a close friend that is serving as a youth pastor at a local church in our small town in Woodruff South Carolina. He has been serving as a youth pastor for over ten years now and still has the desire to teach and fellowship with the youth at his church. Tony tells me that the age group that he has on a weekly basis range from thirteen years of age to seventeen years of age. He also tells me that he really enjoys this range of ages because he can really relate to what they deal with on a daily basis because he has a son that fits into this range of ages that he teaches on a weekly basis at his church. In interviewing Tony for this paper he describe his teaching opportunities that he has is both formal and informal. He has the typical Sunday morning and evening services that would be considered as formal teaching opportunities and then there are Wednesday night services that would also be considered as a formal teaching opportunity that he does every week. As far as the informal opportunities would be when they have gatherings that is not included in the normal service times and this is a great way to reach the ones that come just for fun and fellowship not inside the church building. The way that he breaks down his youth group is by what current grade the student is actually in. This way he can keep the same ages together...

...Factor Youth are faced with so many influences throughout the course of their adolescent years. There are many life changing decisions they must face daily. If we as Americans and Christians arm them with the values needed, they can make decisions based upon their faith, values, and personal experiences. By giving them the knowledge needed to make the informed decisions, we are creating a path for these youth that can positively impact their futures and the futures of generations to come. Parents, teachers, and Christians are challenged to promote the well-being of children and adolescents and build a brighter tomorrow for these youth. This can be done by simply exposing them to a religious environment that instills values into their youth. These values must be connected with the youth’s daily lives to be relevant and learned. The issues youth are facing today include; drugs, sex, alcohol, teen pregnancy, AIDS, depression, and anti-social behaviors. Churches and congregations must face these issues head on and instill values that are religiously based within the youth that will give them the ability to make value based decisions. If the congregation chooses not to address these real life issues, the youth may see church as irrelevant to them and their lives. The church has the ability to instill religious based values that will impact youth throughout their lives. If these issues are not addressed and values regarding these issues that youth face daily, then the youth will...

...three years ago in Bakersfield, California, and ever since I met him I fell in love the way that he works with youth and manages to take youth out of their comfort zone in order to use their talents to their full extent. According to the chart on page 140 of the article “7 Transformations of Leadership”, in HBR’s 10 Must Reads on Leadership, I would label Pastor Eman as a strategist. He deals with conflict comfortably (p. 149 orange book 7TL [rooke and torbert]), he delegates power to his student leaders, he is passionate about creating personal relationships and organizational relations, and is interested in becoming involved in national and international developments. He is unwavering in his principles and values, and it is evident that he is a man that loves the youth ministry, his job. His passion is so overwhelming and contagious that youth and even adults will follow him and work with him in spite of chaotic or uncertain moments in life. Pastor Eman is a man that refused to conform to options given; he always...

...did you choose him/her? Throughout her life, my youth director and mom Nicole Linton has been an exemplary leader. She was always involved as a leader in organizations throughout high school and college. She has been a member of her church for 30 years and now serves as the youth director. Chapter 1 – The Nature and Importance of Leadership 1. Why is leadership important in your (organization, community, team, etc.)? Mrs. Linton believes leadership is important because “young children need guidance and a good example to follow so they don’t fall to the wrong paths.” 2. Why do you think it is important for students such as myself to learn to lead? She believes that it is important for students to learn how to lead because it will open up doors for our futures. She also says “you have to become the leader that you want your children to look up to.” 3. One of the things we study is the many roles that leaders play in their organizations, communities, teams, etc. Could you give me an example of when you have been a: a. Figurehead She says, “When I got accepted to college I think I was a role model for the children and to let them know that someone just like them could get to where I am going.” Coming from our home town and seeing people go to college and be successful is a big inspiration. b. ...Kenneth Owuor) and analyses change initiatives in pastoral ministries by examining how religious leaders address youth issues both locally and on a global level. The paper looks at what type of leadership styles are best practiced to capture the attention of younger generations, and provide guidance necessary for development of productive quality lifestyles. In an effort to understand the complex nature of the minds of today’s youth, Harold asked several questions on what strategic plans the Pastor had for achieving the goals of his ministry and the anticipated outcomes of effective leadership and guidance on the youth. The interview process identified several opportunities for change and attempts to examine youth ministries as a critical component of religious leadership. The primary purpose of this paper is to look at the lack of emphasis of youth ministries in a population destined to be our future leaders. Interview on Implementing Change 3 Introduction Arnold H. Glasow said, “One of the tests of leadership is the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency.” In examining the issue of ministry in general and youth ministry in particular, it is clear that there is to a growing extent, a generalized focus on the overall concept of pastoral ministries, which does not always result in fostering the growing needs of today’s youth from a religious perspective. There is a critical need for improvement in leadership styles in...

...Daniel Snow, the youth pastor at my church, has had a great impact and influence on my life. He is the leader of all the youth organizations and events at my church. I started coming to church around six years ago, and one of the main reason I liked going to church was because Daniel would make everything fun and interesting for the youth in the church. I would go to Sunday school with my brothers and he would lead the devotions for the classes. Daniel donates so much of his time and his life for the church and he lives for God's glory. Before I came to the church and met Daniel, I did not know Christ as my savior, but he taught me about God and how to be saved. My life was very different before I met Christ and Daniel was the person who...
