This case focuses on Motorola, world famous for its Six Sigma quality control program and an early success story in the computer/electronics industry. Through much of its history Motorola was thought to be an extremely progressive company with excellent quality standards and employee relation. Its cellular phone and pager products were identified among the very best in the early 1990s. however, increased competition, the Asian economic crisis, and its failure to full embrace the digital revolution have severely tarnished it operating image. The case illustrates the importance of innovation and how Motorola maintains competitive success, CEO Ed Zander explains how It is important to keep shaking things up when a company successful. Innovation and risk taking help Motorola on the cutting edge.
