...Ethics Case Study Ranacia Alford HCS/335 Ruby Wesley Shadow In order to make ethical decisions in the medical office setting, everyone should have a clear understanding of their role in the practice. Knowing the scope of their work allows employees to perform their jobs better and to keep from making mistakes that could reflect badly on the liable provider. In the case study that will be discussed, Jerry, the office assistant, is asked to refill a prescription for Valium, a controlled substance, without the doctor’s presence or authorization based on the word of the patient. Does Jerry’s Medical Training Qualify Him to Issue This Refill Order? Why or Why Not? According to the case study, Jerry’s job title is Office Assistant. He has professional training as a medical assistant and a licensed practical nurse. Technically, Jerry’s medical training does qualify him to refill this order. Unfortunately, his current job title disqualifies since the doctor has neither authorized this prescription nor hired him as a nurse. Since Valium is a controlled substance and the patient stated that the doctor calls it in from time to time, there likely are no refills at the pharmacy, thus Jerry would be calling in a new prescription which is completed outside of the scope of his position. Would It Make A Difference If the Medication Was For Controlling High Blood Pressure That the Patient Critically Needs on a Daily Basis? Why or Why Not? As previously stated, Jerry’s current position does...

...Professor, Interior Design University of Minnesota Title: Design as a malleable structure: Reframing the conceptual understanding of design and culture through George Kubler’s morphological approach to the history of things Author: Joori Suh, Assistant Professor, Interior Design Department, Iowa State University Under the banner of globalization and internationalization, what actually happens in design? Has today’s blended culture lost the identity unique to the context? What should be the interior design educator’s attitude toward teaching design and culture in the current age? We encounter dilemmas in global design, the results of which are sometimes almost identical regardless of unique settings because of our tendency to grasp design as a whole with respect to particular style or trend without fully apprehending the core and the deviation. Perceiving the entire design project as a mere symbolic expression also hinders our true understanding of design and culture. In this article, I attempt to answer fundamental questions regarding the complex, innate relationship between design and culture and suggest restructuring a conceptual framework applicable to related research and education that effectively reveals the multi faceted characteristics of design and culture in the present age. From the perspective of morphology, current individual design practice can be redefined as one entity comprising two coexisting components: One is a set of particular principles that construe a certain...

...Jediism what are the rankings The Temple of the Jedi Order provides the opportunity for members to learn and grow in experience with the support of those who have already dedicated their lives to Jediism. As such, there is a system of ranking that reflects the development, position and duties of each member within the Order. There are 4 types of 'ranking' in the Order. These are: 'Statuses', 'Ranks', 'Offices' and 'Clerical Ranks'. A 'Rank' is related to the amount of study that has been accomplished at the Temple. A 'Status' is related to the level of rights and responsibilities (some legal) that a member has in the Temple. An 'Office' is a specific position held by a person that relates to specific tasks and responsibilities (FAQ: Offices). A 'Clerical Rank' is the level of clerical duty and responsibility that a person has in the Order. Temple Member - Status An individual who has completed a valid Application. When thinking about HRM within an organization, it is very important to have a great understanding of employment law since it may be applied to many workplace situations. ...Project Management Case Studies These case studies represent a range of projects in different libraries. They are all based on real events. The participating librarians were asked to provide details of projects within the headings used in the case study template which is located at the end of this document. Each case study is presented using these headings to enable the reader to make comparisons between the projects but there is some slight variation of style and detail. Although some editing has been done by the writer of these learning objects, the intention is to retain as much of the individuality of each project as possible. Brief conclusion and analysis is provided at the end of each case study by the writer of these learning objects. Several of the projects are ongoing at the time of writing. This partly reflects the nature of projects in ILS whereby they run parallel to mainstream service delivery. This offers real challenges for those involved and especially for the project leader who will continually need to prioritise the tasks, commitment and speed of working towards completion. None of these projects have been submitted by or directly involve senior managers. Although most have some approval and reporting to senior staff, these projects are managed by professionals in the middle management strata of their organizations and involve different grades of staff or volunteers. Senior staff are less accessible than middle managers and would probably claim to...

...Name of Speaker: Duane Anderson Title of Lecture: "What are We Working on?" Date of Lecture: January 5, 2015 Introduction Duane Anderson watched his first "adult" movie called "Silver Streak" at age 9 when he hitched a ride on the bus with a friend. That was when he knew he would like to work in the film business. He started filming things at around 10-11 years and slowly built more films as he got older. He was recently hired at Utah Valley University (UVU) as part of the cinematography department. The other parts of the department seem to have taken to him since he taught last semester. He has worked as a director and producer and his most recent work or film is called "Superpowerless". It's about a superhero losing his powers after turning 40 and having to readjust to life. I can't wait to see this upcoming film. Summary There are many people who made a name for themselves and became famous because of side projects they did at their house or studio. One of them was Walt Disney. Walt Disney created the character Mickey Mouse in his garage with some friends of his. The reason they did it at his garage instead of at the studio was because of the contract Walt was on. His bosses would have owned this magnificent character instead of Walt. Most people don't know this but Walt created a character before Mickey called Oswald. Oswald was similar to Mickey except he had more of a rabbit look. Oswald was a hit, Universal Studios made loads of money from him because they owned the...
