By publishing high quality work and building a massive amount of followers; your audience will share your information with their audience. Through this Toyota is able to understand local needs and wants and keep strong relationships with local suppliers to sustain competitive advantages. ...availability and use of social media on the internet really provides businesses with new and different useful information. We will explain the reasons why we feel this is true. Additionally, we will provide a counterargument to my original position, and finally, re-address my original position in light of the counterargument. Businesses and Social Media The availability and use of social media on the internet absolutely provides businesses with new and different useful information. The key question is; are businesses ready to use social media, and the information exchange opportunity it provides, to their advantage? The internet and social media is a fast moving train; businesses can either get on that train, deliberately evolving in this frightening economy, or get run over by the train and die a sure death (Rodriguez, 2011). What Not To Do United Airlines Customer service is something all businesses know is important; however, not all businesses invest and prioritize customer service in their vision or strategic plans. If a business is a service or product provider with a well known name and brand, not paying attention to customers could be a big mistake. One such service provider, United Airlines, committed one of those big mistakes. This Fortune 500 multibillion dollar corporation underestimated the power of the consumer. More importantly, United Airlines underestimated the power of an unhappy customer with a public forum in the form of social media (Milliken, 2010)...

...The Snow Storm Lawsuit Strayer University Identify and explain at least three legal considerations. The first legal consideration in this case is related to corporate liability. The hospital itself is negligent under this doctrine. Corporate negligence is the failure to provide the equipment, facilities, and staff to carry out the duties of the corporation in accordance with the established standard of conduct (Showalter, 2007). Corporate negligence is evident in this case in regard to the failure to ensure that sufficient healthcare personnel were available to provide the established standard of care to the patients in the facility. Moreover, the personnel that were required to remain at the hospital from the day shift were likely not performing at their peak after already working their own shift; which could result in errors in patient care. The nurse managers should have been proactive and had a plan in place in the event of severe weather such as forming a team of healthcare personnel who were willing to come to work at the beginning of the storm and stay until they could be relieved. This team should consist of a variety of personnel in sufficient numbers to allow for some personnel to rest while others work. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the hospital to ensure proper personnel coverage regardless of the circumstances. Policies and procedures for handling this type of crisis must be in place and utilized as needed. The second legal consideration in this...

Even without the store having its official name, Stewart Widdess, former Director of Publicity, knew the importance of media and getting customers excited about the opening of a new discount store. ...Kiani Lane and Chelsea Carey October 28th 2015 Deepwater in Deep Trouble Summary: On April 20th 2010, the United States faced not only on of its largest environmental disasters but the biggest offshore oil spill in its history. Off the Gulf of Mexico a large oil rig, Deepwater Horizon, operated by British Petroleum, exploded killing 11 employees and leaking an estimated 4.9 million gallon of crude oil into the ocean. Furthermore, the explosion caused a subsequent fire resulting in the ultimate sinking of the Deepwater Horizon. Although this disaster was accidental there were many warning signs that BP neglected which could have prevented it. To begin with, the construction of the underwater drilling pipelines were shoddy and a vital valve was installed backwards. Consequently the pipelines became brittle, full of cracks, and flooded. In addition, equipment readings, internal documents from BP engineers, and other red flags warned that the rig wasn’t operating correctly and that there was potential for a dangerous explosion. However, all these signs were ignored and not addressed as threats by managers. In an effort to avoid incurring costs and to maximize profit, BP cut corners and underestimated the importance of safety. After initial investigations it became clear that BP not only missed significant signs but staff did not have proper training, maintenance of the rig was inferior, and overall BP lacked formalized emergency responses and a safety culture. As a result BP...

...“Three Mistakes” Beiqi Deng Business Law Camden Country College Dr. Dennis Hurley 12/01/2009 posted in Money & Taxes Three Dumb Mistakes Foreign Companies Do In China A month ago, Apple sold only 5,000 iPhones in its China debut, as against 65,000 in much smaller Korea. It is too early to declare the iPhone a failure in the country, but the launch missed expectations by a mile. Apple follows a long roster of businesses like eBay that have made the dumb mistake of not taking into account local Chinese consumer preferences, as I wrote in “HowApple and IPhone Blew It In China.” Apple should have taken a cue from the German carmaker BMW. BMW localizes for Chinese consumers. The average Chinese buyer of luxury cars such as BMW, Mercedes and Bentley is 40 years old, much younger than in other markets. He has a chauffeur for weekdays but hits the freeways himself on weekends. BMW accommodated local habits by extending the backseat legroom in its Series 5 line by several inches. It also created its first social media site, MyBMWClub.cn, to appeal to younger owners. Using an understanding of local consumers in developing its strategies has worked for the company. In 2009 through October...

...CHAPTER ONE TOPIC QUESTIONS 1. What are the three components of the C.I.A. triangle? What are they used for? The three components of the C.I.A. are: confidentiality (assurance that the information is shared only among authorized persons or organizations); integrity (assurance that the information is complete and uncorrupted); and availability (assurance that the information systems and the necessary data are available for use when they are needed). These three components are frequently used to conveniently articulate the objectives of a security program that must be used in harmony to assure an information system is secure and usable. 2. If the C.I.A. triangle is incomplete, why is it so commonly used in security? The CIA triangle is commonly used in security because it addresses the fundamental concerns of information: confidentiality, integrity and availability. It is still used when not complete because it addresses all of the major concerns with the vulnerability of information systems. 3. Describe the critical characteristics of information. How are they used in the study of computer security? Availability - enables users who need to access information to do so without interference or obstruction and in the required format. The information is said to be available to an authorized user when and where needed and in the correct format. Accuracy- free from mistake or error and having the value that the end-user expects. If information contains a value different...

...that would motivate a person to go to work every day. The second step, safety, would include ones job being position and wage. Belonging includes compatible work-group, personal and professional friends, office parties and social gatherings. Self-esteem includes job title and merit salary increase. The last and final step, self-actualization, includes advancement, challenging assignments, development opportunities, and opportunities to use skills. (Clark, n.d.). With that being said, employees need opportunities to advance, they need to be challenged, and motivated. If the needs of employees are not met, how can a company succeed? Improving job performance is the job of both the employer and employees. First, the major and minor problems must be identified. The next step is to figure out the necessary actions needed to take place in order for the improvement to begin. The last step is to then find preventing procedures so things will continue to run smoothly in the establishment. What are the major and minor problems? Time management may be one of the most major problems. Most people waste time doing other un-work related activities. Un-work related activities include: general procrastination like talking on the phone, and logging onto the social media websites. First, let’s talk about general procrastination. People tend to linger around, interrupting other people who are working, and hanging out consistently in the break room. Next there are the personal phone calls. I’m...

...Western Governors University A: Evaluation of Company Q Social responsibility is a vital part any business or organization. Company Q does not display social responsibility as an important part of their company. Social responsibility shows the attitude actions and activities of a business which contributes a major impact on the image of that business. Company Q is a small local grocery store located in a major metropolitan area. This local area has a food bank that has requested assistance from company Q. The Food Bank asked that company Q donate day old products that they no longer need so that they may contribute them to their community. Company Q’s management team has declined the request and instead have decided to throw the food away. Company Q declining the donation request to the food bank shows a lack of interest in the community, which will reflect poorly on the business. Social responsibility is all about having a positive effect on our society. Company Q lacks social responsibility simply because they have denied to assist their community by donating day old foods to the food bank due to concerns of fraud by their employees. The choice that company Q has made will reflect negatively on the company. Shoppers may even choose to shop at other locations and the reputation of the company may decline. Businesses should be socially responsible and demonstrate ethical practices in their organization. Social responsibility within an organization should not be focused...
