Understand the role and responsibilities of key personnel
In this piece of work I will be identifying the roles and responsibilities of key personnel in a business, while doing this I will also gain and understanding of these roles and responsibilities.
There are key personnel in a business and they all have different roles and responsibilities in that business. Individuals in a business can hold any number of roles or responsibilities. While having a particular role it is their responsibility to make sure that while in that role everything is safe. Most businesses have clearly defined controls that specify what each job role is responsible for.
Systems administrator— a system administrator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the LAN. Although small organizations might have only one systems administrator, larger organizations have many.
Systems analyst— Systems analysts are involved in the system development lifecycle process. They are responsible for determining the needs of users and developing requirements and specifications for the design of needed software programs.
Segregations of Duties:
Job titles can be confusing because different organizations sometimes use different titles for various positions. It helps when the title matches the actual job duties the employee performs. Some roles and functions are just not compatible. Segregation of duties usually falls into four areas of control:
Authorization: This is verifying cash and approving purchases
Custody: This is accessing cash, merchandise, or inventories
Record keeping: This is preparing receipts, maintaining records
Reconciliation: This is comparing payroll summaries
Compensating Controls:
Because of the problems that can occur when certain tasks are combined, separation of duties is there to provide accountability and control. In small organisations its difficult to adequately separate
