Business and Professional Policies and Procedures that contribute to consistent and reliable service provision in the hospitality industry How does it contribute to a consistent and reliable service provision in the hospitality industry
Customer services policy Customer services policy is very important because of the fact that it makes it so that staff are required to give the same care, respect and service every time that they are served and every time that they go to the catering business.
If customers are treated differently, it would make them feel upset, angry or more. Or it could cause the customers to be unsatisfied with the care or respect or even the service by staff.
The best way to be able to monitor how happy the customers are with the service that they have received is by asking them to do a survey. This can make it so that you can spot the issues within the service or other areas within the hospitality industry. …show more content…
Uniform standards Uniform standards are equally important because the uniform is one of the first things that someone is going to notice. This is a issue because if a member of staff looks very scruffy or messy, it could discourage customers from going to the restaurant. This is because if the member of staff looks messy and untidy, it gives the impression that the company itself is not of a good standard and that the company does not pay enough attention to the standards or upkeep of their staff or cooking

Unit introduction This unit builds on learner understanding of the principles introduced in Unit 5: Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care. Improvements in the diet of individuals are increasingly being recognised as a significant factor in maintaining, or effecting improvements, in overall health. Health and Social Care Unit 7

...Unit 7- sociological perspectives for health and social care P1 – Explain the principal sociological perspectives Sociological Perspectives | Main Points | Criticisms | Functionalism | Functionalist believe that just as the body functions through the efficient interrelationship of major organs and has disease, so the different institutions in society each have particular contributions to make. They work together and use methods of social control to deal with deviant members or groups, to ensure that society functions smoothly. Parsons (1902-1979) saw society as a system made up of interrelated institutions, which contributed to its smooth running and continuity. He thought that the main role of an institution is to socialise individuals and ensure that they understood the underlying values of their society and behave in acceptable ways. Murdock(1897-1985) did a study of the family, examined over 250 societies and concluded that in all societies the family performed 4 functions: * Sexual function which was allowed for the expression of sexuality in an approved context * Reproductive function which provided stability for the rearing children * Socialisation included the responsibility of teaching children the acceptable ways of behaving in society * Economic function meant that food, shelter, and financial security had to be provided for the family membersParsons(1951) argued that the family had only two basic functions which were: * The primary socialisation of children...

...Credit value: 5 1 Communication in health and social care Health and social care professionals need good communication skills to develop positive relationships and share information with people using services. They also need to be able to communicate well with people’s families and/or carers and their own colleagues and other professionals. It is important therefore, if you are considering a career in health and social care, to gain the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to develop effective interpersonal skills. There are several different forms of communication used in a health and social care environment. This unit looks at verbal and non-verbal communication methods. You will gain an understanding of the communication cycle, looking at how to make sure that communication is effective and messages understood at each stage. You will also learn to recognise a range of factors which may create barriers to communication. You will then consider ways in which these barriers may be overcome, including the use of alternative forms of communication. You will be given the opportunity to observe and discuss communication methods used by professionals – skills which you will practise and refine. You will then demonstrate your communication skills in both one-to-one and group situations. This unit has links with Unit 2 (Individual needs in health and social care), Unit 5 (Vocational experience) and Unit 6 (Cultural diversity) as it will develop...

...Unit 12 – Historical Perspectives of the Health System P1: Describe key aspects of public health strategies P2: Describe the origins of public health policy in the UK from the 19th century to the present day Public Health is about helping everyone to stay healthy rather than focusing specifically on the individual, with the aim to promote health, protecting individuals from threats to their health and preventing ill-health. Public health policies have made a significant impact in increasing a person's overall life expectancy and improving health. (Public Health) PUBLIC HEALTH STRATEGIES: Public health strategies are devised in order to prevent the spread of diseases, prolong life and promote health. This can be done through the use of monitoring, identifying, developing programmes etc. Monitoring the health status of the community – Is a key aspect of health strategies that are in place within the UK. This health strategy helps to monitor any changes that occur in the health of the population, along with alerting individuals to any potential problems. Health throughout the UK is monitored by quality of life, infant mortality rates and life expectancy (Baker L, 2008, BTEC National Health and Social Care Book 2, page 2) The monitoring of health throughout the country allows for advanced planning of local services within the community that may be at risk of certain health problems.
