6 Unwind may take place in the future, but the events are not too different from the past and present, where genocide, refugee camps, and suicide bombers all exist. In Shusterman's book, genocide comes in the form of a bill named “The Bill of Life”. The bill is made to please Pro-Life and Pro-Choice armies to end the Heartland War and it states that, “[B]etween the ages of thirteen and eighteen, a parent may choose to retroactively 'abort' a child . . . on the condition that the child's life doesn't 'technically' end. The process . . . is called 'unwinding' ” (Shusterman). If parents see their child as troublesome or unmanageable, then they can make the simple life changing decision to have them unwound. One of the characters, Emby, is getting unwound because his aunt wanted the money his mother left him.. This shows that the bill is not only used for troubled teens, but also for guardians who want personal gain. Some teens, like Risa, are getting unwound because of money problems at their State Homes. Since every child is born, State Homes carry more children than can be afforded and this also means that some children don't get to live their lives without getting unwound or “killed”. In Unwind, the …show more content…
The Graveyard gives home to a large amount of teens trying to hide from the government. The camp gives the teens a new chance at life. Inside the camp, the teens are given jobs that are suitable for them. This helps them feel important or desired after being rejected by their guardians. They do not stay in the camp their entire lives though, because they leave whenever they get a sponsor or turn 18. When they leave, they still have the risk of getting caught by the government and being imprisoned for some years, but they can not be unwound. The Graveyard gives new lives for the teens who seek shelter from the government and after some time they can freely go back into society, but this was not the case in the

...Analysis of Case Studies Titled: TGIF & What’s Your Culture Worth? Shenae Adams 0704671 Tutor: Myrtle Weir BBA4 – HRM (D) University of Technology, Jamaica April 11, 2011 Summary of Case: TGIF The case titled ‘TGIF’ speaks to a weekly beer bust held at Quantum’s Seattle Headquarters. The company, which was founded three (3) years ago by Stan Albright and Erin Barber, hosts these beer busts to allow the employees to relax as a reward for their extra efforts. Quantum has grown to more than 200 employees and $95 million in sales over the past three (3) years. Bill Carter, the company’s corporate attorney, on attending one of the weekly beer busts received good reviews about working at Quantum. After a work day of 16 hours, six (6) days a week, the beer bust held every Friday afternoon seemed to be keeping employee morale at an enthusiastic level. However, Bill Carter had some reservations or concerns about serving alcohol at a company sponsored party especially after observing a new employee’s behavior at the party after he had lost his balance and fell on the snack table. He believed that the beer bust parties were getting out of hand and could possibly result in an exposure to liability. There is now a dilemma between wanting to keep the team spirit and at the same time reduce Quantum’s liability exposure. Review of the Case The case, TGIF, presents an organization, Quantum Software that though it was founded three (3) years ago has managed to set for...

Organizational Behaviour Personal Learning Paper

...Organizational Behavior Behavioral Analysis TOPIC: HUMOUR Organizational Behavior Behavioral Analysis TOPIC: HUMOUR INDIVIDUAL WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT: Organizational Behaviour Behavioural Analysis: Humour Introduction: An old lady, who was very stingy at spending money and would refrain from spending a single dime unnecessarily, was gifted a cell phone on her 80th birthday by her grandchildren. To their surprise, she would call them almost every day and speak to them for hours at a stretch. When they finally asked her how she was spending so much money on paying the cell phones usage bill she replied, ‘All my calls are free because this phone has no wires and is not connected to anything!’ Humour is a good note to start the day on. It instils a feeling of happiness at the very beginning of the day which sometimes helps you last throughout the day. I personally am a huge fan of humour, may be not the most humourous of them all but would take up every chance to have a good laugh and take off some of the pressure that’s been piling up! What is Humour? Humour essentially means taking delight in the mirthful and the ludicrous. I have many a times experienced from encounters with some very humourous people, that they are the most popular and desired category of people in a social get together or for that matter even formal gatherings. Their presence in any gathering is highly welcomed, at family get-togethers, religious ceremonies,...

President Cordova assigned the task of designing the plan and writing a memo to the Director of Personnel, Richard Sasche. The company was accustomed to the traditional work hours. The rush hour in the morning and evening period had always caused problems amongst the work force. The memo about the Flex Time plan was suggested to be posted for all employees to see. The memo informed workers about the plan and its guidelines. The Digital Display team was headed by Jim Hallora, who was the project coordinator. Jim worked at the firm for 27 years and is considered conservative with his thought and unsociable yet very argumentative whenever his mandates are criticized. Enchanted Kingdom Case Study

...boost its guest attendance and profitability. III. Background of the Case Enchanted Kingdom opened to the public on October 19. 1995. It was and still is the Philippines' first world class fixed and themed amusement attraction on a scale never before seen in the country. It had 16 rides and attractions most of which were unique to the Philippines during its introduction while the rest were in size and capacities that had never experienced in the country before. Locating these rides and attractions within seven meticulously themed zones interspersed with food and merchandise outlets and kiosks as well as various game stands also added to the “experience” in a totally “enchanting” environment, away from the day-to-day realities of life. In 1996, answering the call for the more ride attractions for the younger set, Enchanted Kingdom installed two new rides at its Boulderville Zone, Stone Eggs, a Mini-Ferris Wheel and Dino Soar 'Us, a Dinosaur Ride. The turn of the century also marked the beginning of Enchanted Kingdom's first decade and Rio Grande Rapids, a River Ralf Ride opened to a very enthusiastic welcome in 2000. Following Jungle Log...

Pseudonews in Media

...GRADUATION THESIS PSEUDONEWS IN THE MODERN MEDIA Evidence from NewsBelarus.net site By DMITRY BUTER Minsk, 2011 INTRODUCTION People have been always interested in news. Getting information is ordinary necessity of any person. Recently this trend has become particularly notable. If we look at the statistics of query word "news" in the most popular Internet search service Google, it turns out that at the beginning of the century it took only 30-40 percent of the total share of requests. In the second decade this figure rose to the level of 80 percent. However, the information contained in news releases, does not always reflect the hidden side of an event, and sometimes it is even boring and mediocre. As the horizon of an average reader becomes broader, the need for innovative coverage of what is happening around us is increasing. News agencies are finding new ways of presenting information: video podcasts, infographics. However, meaning and significance are often lost behind a beautiful design. In pursuit of the reader, agencies often lose their individuality, merging their materials with overall news flow. When a newsbreak is completely used up, and the reader is still interested in it, it becomes possible to fill the vacant space with excogitation, and sometimes to make everything up from scratch. And thus pseudonews are born - materials that replicate the style of information resources, but they differ from the real news by satirical content. The graduation...
