Virtual Team Leadership 1. Identify the 2 most important virtual leadership skills you want to acquire to be more effective. The two skills that I would like to acquire would be from the Rules of Engagement: * Process * Scenario Planning 1. What actions will you take to build those skills? And, how will you gain feedback, and from whom, to determine whether you are demonstrating those skills? What will you ask that person(s) to do? Some of important aspects necessary to (1) build an effective process would be to know how clearly the process defined helps in communicating the tasks to be accomplished and helps to ease the day-to-day activities/work. Make use of various IT tools and technologies available to track all the necessary data. (2) Efficient scenario planning by developing ‘safety’ procedures to identify issues early and to be able to resolve them in a timely manner. Anticipate any roadblocks and potential differences in opinions among the team members in terms of ideas or suggestions, which is very common in a virtual team. Here openness to ideas and showing the flexibility for changes will foster creativity. Effective feedback could be achieved through honest discussions and encouraging team members to openly discuss their point of views, for members who do not actively speak-up by themselves, asking related questions for potential solutions or feedback on the existing solutions could gain valuable insights. Also a manager could self evaluate the process to make sure the defined process provides him/her enough time to work on project related issues rather than process itself.
