Sgt. Wade Bieberdorf is completing his second year as the first line supervisor in the Personnel Division. Additionally he has recently completed his fourteenth year of service to the Sheriff’s Office. Therefore, Wade’s years of service have provided him with a concrete understanding of the qualities and characteristics candidates applying with the Sheriff’s Office should possess.
An area Wade demonstrates a significant aptitude in is his Personnel Management/Leadership skills. Although every background investigator is a tenured deputy with critical self-initiative skills needing little supervision, Wade carves out time each day to actively engage and interact with his staff. Wade encourages his staff to be fully self-sufficient during background investigations, allowing them to proceed and make their own decisions based upon information discovered. However, he does not hesitate to provide constructive criticism or correction when necessary. Recognizing he is dealing with staff possessing Type A personalities, Wade is cognizant of how his criticism may be negatively received and ensures his staff understand the correct message and the correct interpretation of the message.
