The City of Los Angeles is a very deep and diversely unified city. It has everything to off that any one person could ever dream of wanting to do, or possessing. Although the city of Los Angeles is a melting pot of different ethnic backgrounds as well as cultures, they are what come together to make Los Angeles the great city that it is and provide all the beautiful environments and opportunities that it is known for. Based upon different yet biased opinions one would expect for the people in the city of Los Angeles to be untrustworthy and dishonest. From experience, growing up and living in Los Angeles I am here to tell you that the particular opinion is untrue and unsettling. Majority of the people who live in Los Angeles are responsible and extremely self-reliant. What one spends their time doing, and what the chose to devote themselves to is based upon wants, needs, and expectations which ultimately makes Los Angeles a great place to live because of its atmosphere and experiences.

Los Angeles is so vast that you can find a great array of different jobs that the residents have. Los Angeles has everything from being a waiter/waitress, a bartender, freelance photographer, journalist to someone being a board member of a Fortune 500 organization. Although the unemployment rate is high there are still opportunities for work. Los Angeles is the type of community in which everyone interacts with everyone. Because of Los Angeles being so diverse and spread out, it is almost impossible to interact with the same people in any given scenario, especially since Los Angeles offers a variety of beaches including Santa Monica, Venice, Manhattan, Malibu; several “get-away” destinations such as Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, Big Bear, which are affordable and with atmospheres that help one relax. Plus, if you love art and history, Los Angeles offers LACMA, Getty Center, MOMA, as

Ethics, Essay

...Week 1 Ethics Essay Chiana Beard ETH/316 October 8, 2012 Richard Sorrentino Week 1 Ethics Essay Ethics is the basis of many theories and debates. It is the basis of deterring what is right and wrong based on one’s beliefs. Topics about ethics often bring about in-depth discussions about individual characteristics concerning virtues, values, and moral concepts. The Virtue Theory, Utilitarianism, and Deontological Ethics are theories that involve those aspects of ethics. These theories have commonalities; however, there are differences in the theories as well. The Virtue theory often refers to character or ethics. The word “virtue” comes from the Greek word for excellence. This theory suggests one should strive for excellence or perfection. There is a strong correlation between this theory and the U.S. Army motto, “Be All That You Can Be.” Nike’s “Just Do It” also suggests one should push themselves to the limit and strive for perfection. In addition to striving for excellence, one bases the quantity of character on the length of time that one continually achieves that excellence. If one is constantly striving to be good, but slips, have they lost all character and no longer hasethics? The virtue theory suggests it is a collection of actions that develops into who a person becomes over time (Boylan, 2009). Utilitarianism is a group-based theory that suggests one will do what is morally right for the greater good of the team or group involved. It...

The Rersponsibility Project

...The Responsibility Project Sharon Lewis ETH/316 May 21, 2012 Michael Mc Neal The Responsibility Project The issues in the film are important because ethical principles are what shape and define the values of any organization. The Responsibility Project is what Liberty Mutual has addressed to put together a program that helps those in need in the communities around them and to better themselves as well. This is one company that has gone above and beyond to help those within their community. The need and desire to improve and to make a better life for their children is what Greyston Bakery has in mind. They are a for-profit business that has a bottom line that they go by: “We don’t hire people to make brownies; we make brownies in order to hire people” (Greyston Bakery, 2011). They hire those people that might be considered “hard to employ”. They are part of a foundation that helps individuals get back on their feet and get their lives together as a way to succeed. This bakery is just one of the Foundation’s enterprises in which its program is capable of reaching 2,200 community members annually. The Greyston Bakery was founded in 1982 by a Zen Buddhist meditation group that was led by Bernard Tetsugen Glassman. Glassman who was a former aerospace engineer had an entrepreneurial spirit and a bold vision. He borrowed $300,000 and opened the small bakery in the Bronx. His original goal had been to produce quality, locally made products that would give...

...Organizational Ethic Stephen Gray ETH/316 October 26, 2015 Tammy Walker The organization I have investigated is my own. I work for a local housing authority. In my thirty year working life, spent mostly on banking and finance, this has been, by far, the most ethical field I have worked in. I do believe this is due, in part, because we are not profit driven. Because of the nature of our work, however, others may not have the same ethical view of my industry. The largest share of our revenue comes from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, HUD. Some agencies, such as mine, also have a significant portfolio of market rate housing that provides significant cash reserves. These reserves can be used to purchase or build affordable housing units. The ethical questions come into play in three aspects of this industry: 1) A lot of Conservatives do not believe that the United States, operating through HUD, has the moral responsibility to provide housing to able bodied citizens and recent immigrants. 2) Some voucher holders, in spite of auditing practices and due diligence of the agency, cheat. 3) In an effort to maximize numbers of affordable units, agencies have sold or traded prime properties to developers for perhaps less than prime properties Social pressures affect agencies by making them more cognizant of the dynamics working around them. When my agency builds new housing, we go...

The issue whether the information obtained by Jamal Moore is used to discipline Aaron Webb for violating the NDA or discipline him for the manner in which the information was obtained (Ethics game worksheet, 2013). What were the ethical issues presented in the simulation game Ethical dilemmas can be used to address organizational issues through awareness, training, and support of management and shareholders. Even though this issue has become more of a legal issue, management cannot minimize the incident to avoid legal situations. They need help from all shareholders and upper-level management. Computer security is the issue and the new system that was just implemented has been compromised by an employee. People are less likely to break the law or a legal code if they are aware they are breaking rules.
