The Coca Cola organization has many different internal and external factors that would affect the four functions of management. Internally, Coca Cola could have a lack of competent employees who could jeopardize the functions. When employees are not up to speed on what the company goals and visions are, this could internally harm the planning, organizing, leading controlling functions. If there is a lack of company funds to back the initial plan or goal, this also would affect the functions. On a more positive note, if company morale remains very high, the four functions are going to flow a lot smoother with everyone on board to achieve the organizations goal or vision. Internally the priorities of the Coca Cola Company will also influence the four functions. If being environmentally safe is at the top of the priority list, then costs to make sure the ink on the products is safe for the environment would not be compromised in the planning process. External factors that could have an effect on the Coca Cola Company could be the environment, or the current economic state of the country Coca Cola is operating, or selling to. If environmental activists were to find that the plastic used on two liter bottles of the cola was causing harm to the environment, this would very much affect the functions, planning in particular. Perhaps the current economic conditions of the country Coca Cola was operating were to be very poor, then an ad campaign to promote the product showing luxury items would not be effective. Also, the economy being poor would have cause to make sure in the first function of planning that the profit margins are set to reflect these economic conditions so that the organization does not have a false sense of how much product will sell.
