Barbra Ehrenreich (2012), a feminist, liberal and democratic socialist, bases her article on what she believes women can learn from men, some men. She believes that getting tough is the one trait acceptable for a woman to replicate from a man. In this article she discusses the continuous battle between the two sexes and how women portray themselves as “too damn ladylike” (Ehrenrich, 2012). The message she is trying to convey is that she wants women to become stronger, and selfish individuals by using a sarcastic tone. Also, to show the audience what masculinity means and what it doesn’t mean in the eyes of a male. It’s my first week in and I’m having a blast learning all kinds of things about group formation and group decisions. I especially learned a lot from watching 12 Angry Men with my classmates. I loved this film because it identified almost all of the group roles in some way, so for me I really got a chunk of what group dynamics really is my very first day. I found group dynamics to be about a list of things, but more specifically to feel affection and be in control while in a group because most members of a group expect to be able to speak and be understood in discussions. ...I go to school listening to music and even eat to it. Music is a source of joy, stress, tears, camaraderie and fulfillment for me. What would life be without music? The world would be a very quiet place. Music for me is a reminder of how things once were an indication of how things are, and a view of where society is headed. Music is a direct reflection of the picture of society. Music can be a way to deliver messages, a poetic medium, a fine art, or nothing more than a source of entertainment. No matter what it is used for, music is the perfect art and my life would be that much less complete without it. Two songs come to mind when I think about all these sources of completeness for myself. First is “Proud to Be an American” by Lee Greenwood and “You and Me” by Soldier of Jah Army. He only told me bits and pieces of the course but as he explained you could see the passion in his eyes as we engaged in conversation. He had nothing but good things to say and he claimed that, "After this course you'll respect women way more." "Impossible" I thought, because I already respected women tremendously because I see their daily hardships and how they are portrayed them in the media. However, most of the literary pieces do not directly give or state what it wants to convey, authors/writers use symbolism instead. It depends to the reader on how he or she will give meaning from it and how will he or she will relate it to real life situation. It is important that in literature, we do not only take its literal meaning but rather its dig from its deeper meaning.
