I can admit that I myself have had the thoughts when things seem to get so bad that I feel like the world is crashing down on me. The question then becomes am I depressed and if I am would I really think about ending it all and committing suicide. The question though is if you are that depressed how does the idea of committing suicide get introduced into your mind. And how long before the thoughts become actions. Suicide (risk) Assessment refers to the establishment of a clinical judgment of risk in very near future, based on the weighing of very large mass of available clinical detail. Risk assessment carried out in a systematic, disciplined way is more than a guess or intuition it is a reasoned, inductive process, and a necessary exercise in exercise in estimating probability over short periods. Looking into many different sources there are many different ways that psychologist look into the threat of suicide and determine if you are considered an “high risk” or just a “low risk” and if your personal depression is leading up to your thoughts of suicide. ...Running Head: DETERMINING WHO AND WHY Determining Who and Way Human Capital Management – HRM 531 January 24, 2012 Instructor: Bob Hanks Abstract The recruitment and selection process is one of the main functions of Human Resource Management. It is critical to the achievement of organizational and strategic goals. At some point, every organization will need to hire new employees. Selecting the wrong person could be a costly mistake when considering the amount of money involved in recruiting and training new employees. According to (Wienclaw, 2010), “the tools used to select new employees need to be demonstrably related to the job and must help the organization select those employees with the appropriate knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics necessary for job success” (p. 1). To identify the recruitment and selection methods at Wal-Mart, a job description for a Senior Manager in Marketing-Promotions was selected from their website. This particular job description was selected because it includes position details, job duties, performance standards and job factors. Who Started the Cold War and Why?

...Who started the cold war and why? The Cold War was started by the principal victors of World War II: the United States of America, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and to a lesser extent Britain. The Cold War was essentially an ideological struggle which but soon adopted all facets of full international conflict with its geopolitical, economic and also scientific-technological aspects. The earliest stages of the Cold War coincided with the final defeats of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan in the first half of 1945. Both Communists and Capitalists were anxious to fill the power vacuums that the defeated Axis powers were leaving behind in Central Europe and the Pacific. From the setting of the scene at Yalta in February 1945, to the embittered conclusion of the Warsaw Pact on 14th May 1955, the worst obstacle to achieving a peace settlement was a mutual and deep-seated sense of suspicion, which the powers on either side of the 'Iron Curtain' must be held responsible for. "Twenty years ago I strove with all the energy in my power against Communism, because at that time I considered Communism, with its idea of world revolution, the greatest danger to the British Empire ... Nowadays German Nazism, with its idea of the world hegemony of Berlin, constitutes the greatest danger for the British Empire ... If the danger for the British Empire from the side of Fascism were to disappear and the danger from the side of Communism were to rise again, I - I say this absolutely...

The Economics Of Immigration: Who Wins, Who Loses And Why By Christopher Matthews

...The article, “The Economics of Immigration: Who Wins, Who Loses and Why” by Christopher Matthews describes the economic effects of immigration. One thing that surprised me in Matthew’s article was that “The most recent academic research suggests that, on average, immigrants raise the overall standard of living of American workers by boosting wages and lowering prices”. This surprised me because I expected for immigrants lowered wages not increase them. Another component of the article is that “ the vast majority of the economic literature argues that a more liberal immigration policy would be good for the U.S. economy as a whole”. I always expected that a stricter immigration policy would help the United States economy. Finally, the article...

Who Is Jon Krakauer's 13 Reasons Why?

...Right after finishing the show, I instantly found the comparison between Missoula and Krakauer’s style of reporting to the producer of the show, Joseph Incaprera. Both men decided to not sugar coat any part of the topic of rape or rape culture. I felt just as uncomfortable reading Missoula as I did watching 13 Reasons Why, and that is how I know both told the stories of these young women effectively and with passion. A person should feel uncomfortable when hearing the word rape, and an effective narrative should provoke anger into the soul. A football player or honored member of a college campus raping a woman and getting away with the crime is not just a television show plotline, it is an actual event that has happened multiple times. Missoula also reminded me of a rape case that occurred back in 2012, when trophy-winning quarterback, Jameis Winston, assaulted a young woman at Florida State University. Yet, according to Times Magazine, “The police did not follow the obvious leads that would have quickly identified the suspect as well as witnesses, one of whom...

The Power of Talk: Who Gets Heard and Why

...Managing Diversity Paper #3 The Power of Talk: Who Gets Heard and Why Deborah Tannen’s article essentially points out that men and women have different ways of communicating. Women’s conversational style is more towards developing rapport, providing support, or nurturing in such a way to show how they are attune to communication. This style is conducive towards promoting intimacy and the importance of relationships. On the other hand, men’s conversational style is more assertive, more indicative of independence and the maintenance of hierarchical relationships. This style is important in establishing and communicating the status of a person engaged in communication. Tannen’s views regarding these differences are shared by others. In “Bridging the Gender Gap,” Glaser points out that it is not the fact that men and women play by different rules, but that the problem lies in now knowing what the rules are (n.d.). Tannen noted in her article that differences in communication style for men and women are product of their socialization during childhood experiences. Glaser adds that in the workplace, men do not exclude women intentionally, but that it is men’s assertiveness that may make this perception. Men do not wait to be invited; they simply join in. Moreover, she also states that women have a tendency to be apologetic and to attach qualifiers to their conversation. For example, women would add, “This may be a stupid question…”, “I think this may...

Who Am I? Why Am I Here?

...Who Am I? My name is xxxxxxxxx and I am a woman originally born in the city of xxxxxx, xxxxx. I came to the United States at age five and I recently became xxx years old on my birthday, this past xxxx x, xxxx. As a woman of Hispanic origin, I am very rich in Latin and Central American Indian culture. I grew up with my mom and aunts speaking a derivative of Pig Latin. I have a Spanish style of cooking and mostly all my plates are xxxxxx dishes. I may have grown up in the states all my life, but I’m almost 100% rooted in Spanish customs. As a person, I identify myself as a child of God. Spiritually, I am always seeking knowledge and wisdom since I believe it comes from God. My faith is deeply rooted in my confession, that I am a spirit who will one day return to my maker. Holding such a belief has its advantages. For example, I generally do not abide by society’s norm of what I should be, or my role in life. I also believe that if I’m still here, there’s work to be done. I love to explore Biblical concepts and beliefs. As a mother I am an attentive soul. I’m always looking out for my children and their personal interest. I like to give them their space, but yet hold them accountable. I tend to be conservative with my children and do not try to push them beyond their limits. To me, being who we are and doing what we do, just as we choose whether to build a relationship with God, is a very personal matter. While most people do not like my parenting style, I think it’s worked...

Personal Knowledge Management : Who, What, Why, When, Where, How?

...Personal Knowledge Management : Who, What, Why, When, Where, How? Jason Frand and Carol Hixon December, 1999 Our students, who will spend most of their working lives in the 21 st century, will need to see the computer and related technologies as an extension of themselves, as a tool as important as the pencil or quill pen was for the last several hundred years. Fifteen years ago, few people knew what a personal computer was. Now personal computers are ubiquitous. With the proliferation of personal computers and linked computer networks, there has been an increase in the amount of information produced, as well as new avenues of finding the information. Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) attempts to utilize the computer to help the individual manage the information explosion in a meaningful way. What is personal knowledge management? It’s a system designed by individuals for their own personal use. Knowledge management has been described by Davenport and Prusak as a systematic attempt to create, gather, distribute, and use knowledge. Lethbridge characterizes it as the process of acquiring, representing, storing and manipulating the categorizations, characterizations and definitions of both things and their relationship. PKM, as conceived at the Anderson School, is a conceptual framework to organize and integrate information that we, as individuals, feel is important so that it becomes part of our personal knowledge base. It provides a strategy for transforming what might be random...

Explain Why the Cross Is an Important Symbol for Christians Who Are in Pain and Suffering.

...faith in times of great need, because the symbol of the cross reminds Christians that not only did God send His only son to earth to be crucified in order to save us from our sins, but also that both God and Jesus have suffered for our sakes and salvation. The history of the world has been characterised by great human suffering. One can reflect upon horrific events such as the Holocaust and the Twin Towers tragedy and wonder how God, who is supposed to love everyone unconditionally, can permit such inhumane catastrophes to occur. The answer which theologians have provided is that God does not will for these sufferings to befall us, but is present in our suffering and “really suffers with all who suffer in this world” (Johnson, 2007, 61). The symbol of the cross, which Jesus was crucified on, serves to remind Christians that they are not alone in their agony. It is an image of comfort for those in pain, because it brings to mind the sacrifice God made for us in sending His son to intimately share in the world’s pain. The cross symbolises that “God, who is love…freely plunges into the midst of pain and tastes its bitterness to the bitter end in order to save” (Johnson, 2007, 59). Therefore, the symbol of the cross is emotionally significant to Christians in turmoil, because it reminds them that they are not deserted by God – instead He will give them the hope and the strength to survive their anguish.
