Testable Question: Can an ice cube be lifted from a glass of water using a string? Background Research: Ice is frozen water. The state of matter ice is at in room temperature is liquid. When the temperature of water comes below a certain point, called the freezing point, it starts to solidify. The freezing point of pure water is 32 degrees Fahrenheit, but when water comes into contact with different substances the freezing point can sometimes move up or down.
Salt is a white crystalline substance that gives seawater its characteristic taste. The chemical formula for table salt is sodium chloride. Salt has many uses in day to day life, and is used as a preservative, seasoning, and as a preventative measure for icing over on bridges. The reason for it being used to prevent ice forming on bridges is that it lowers the freezing point of water to slightly below 0 degrees.
What is supposed to happen in this experiment is that the salt, thrown in a thin layer on top of the ice cube, should lower the melting point of the ice and melt a thin layer. The water should then cool down a bit further, and then refreeze around the string that is put on top of the ice cube. This way, the string is now inside the ice, and able to lift up the ice cube.
The reason this experiment is important is that it demonstrates an important reaction that can help us in our day-to-day lives. It shows how effective salt is on ice.

English Presentation

...afternoon, everyone. As you all know, I’m Ruixin Yan, from Group E. Before I start my presentation today, I’d like to play a little game with you. That is, guess the price of these beauty products. After I introduce the product on the screen, you can raise your hand and answer. Now, let’s start by this product, a facial cream by Sisley. How much do you think it is? ......The answer is 144 pounds. Next one, a facial brush. So what’s the price? …… Surprisingly, it costs 168 pounds. 168 pounds! Do you believe that?! It’s just a brush! This leads us to the topic of my presentation today: Why is the beauty industry so profitable? The beauty industry, also known as the cosmetics industry, includes sales of cosmetics, perfume, and products for skin and hair care. Beauty salons and spas are considered the service sector of the beauty industry. The global beauty industry has an annual growth rate of 4.5 %, and is estimated to worth 265 billion dollars in 2017. For the ten minutes or so, I’ll show you three main reasons to explain the profitability of this industry. I’ll start by looking at the first reason, which is purchase frequency. Next, I’ll focus on huge gross margin, and to finish off, I’ll consider growing men’s cosmetics market. Right, to begin with, let’s look at purchase frequency, which means people buy beauty products regularly, once a month for example. Even during the Great Recession of 2008, consumers did not stop spending money on these products. So why do they purchase frequently...

Answers to all questions should be well-written (i.e. clear, complete sentences) and well thought out. 1. Do you believe that the traditional family should be saved? Why or why not? This response should be a minimum of 1 solid paragraph. A traditional family usually is a family that keeps together and has some kind of a dictatorship usually the father figure. They believe in certain type of religion and where the mother has to stay at home and take care of the children while the husband goes to work and provides for the family. I personally believe that maybe having that type of family is not bad if it keeps them happy, but it is not necessary to keep around. There is nothing bad with different types of families. The type of family does not matter it does not have to be the picture-perfect family that the media projects; A family by definition is a social institution found in all societies that unites people in cooperative groups to care for one another, including any children. Weather the family should be saved or not depends weather the people want it or not if that is what the members of the family want. Maybe having a few around is not a bad to probably look back and refer to the start of a family. 2. How serious a problem is single-parent childrearing? How ought our society respond to this concern? Nursing Communication

...A neighbour of yours has a relative in hospital and ask you which ward they are in, what do you say? You are not at liberty to divulge any patients’ details, ie medical condition, the ward they are on etc. You cannot give out personal details regardless of how well you know the people in question - unless there is a medical reason to let them know. Even within a hospital you cant just go round giving out details/notes. Regardless you probably dont actually know unless it really is a tiny hospital, though thats besides the point Registered Nurses are busy and a doctor asks you to administer an injection, something you've seen but not done, what do you do? You would never give an injection as a HCA no matter how many times you had seen it done by the nurse. You also tell the Dr you are not qualified and refuse to do it. Do NOT ever ever ever ever do a proceedure you are not familiar/confident/competent to do as chances are youll **** it up and hurt someone = black mark on your record. If a doctor gets you to do something (especially if hes a houseman) tell him to go do it himself or even better to SHOW you (after all these guys should be competent by now)... OK so they dont have masses of time to go round teaching nurses but it doesnt hurt to be a bit cheeky :P What do you think makes good teamwork in the NHS? 3) Good communication. Having good feedback from patients. This is the number one factor that you can use to determine if youre doing it right. If the patients recover and...

...THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (ACA) 1 The Importance of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Nicole M. Anderson Argosy University THE IMPORTANCE OF THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (ACA) 2 When it comes to insurance, there may be more questions than answers. The rules concerning all types of insurance have changed over the years. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the fact that there are penalties to pay when we choose not to follow the rules. The government has now stepped in to monitor and confirm that we are in compliance with the laws set forth. When we are not in compliance the government will assess fines on all people and business owners considered to be a large employer that will increase with every year that passes. Insurance is a very important necessity to have in this day and time; without it the penalties can be great. You may be asking yourself this million-dollar question, why was it so important for the government to pass the Affordable Care Act (ACA) law? Health Insurance has been on top of the discussion list within the governmental agencies for some time now. “On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) into law, putting in place comprehensive reforms that improve access to affordable health coverage for everyone and protect consumers from abusive insurance company practices.” (Health Care that Works for Americans 2016). This is a very important law for the Americans who do not have nor can...

Eatng Health

...Healthy is something no one seems to do anymore. Between fast food and television people are becoming more and more lazy and relying on cheap foods to satisfy them both mentally and hunger wise. In this essay I will explain the importance of eating right and how your eating habit can affect your health in the long run. There are many reasons to eat healthy; one of those reasons is to support your immune system. Our body’s blood cells decide what’s good and what’s bad for us. If you’re constantly eating fruits and vegetables yr body will extract all the nutrients inside the fruits and vegetables to help support your immune system and help it fight against any bacteria that can cause illness. Now if you’re mostly eating junk foods, your body will not have any natural nutrients to extract and will not be able to support your immune system to ward off any bacteria that can/will cause illness. By not feeding your body right, eventually your body will start to shut down. Most people don’t see it as a problem since they feel medication can basically fix any kind of illness they encounter, but in the long run medication winds up damaging your body and the only other solution to cure the body that relied on the medication that was suppose to cure it is give it either a stronger dosage of medication or something different that will eventually cause another side affect. Now personally I don’t think my health is worth going through all that when all you had to do was change your eating habits....
