...require completion (*). Life Event 1 (title):* My Fathers’ Baptism In one paragraph, explain why this event was significant to you.*This is a story that my father who came from a background of hate and racism told me. While my grandparents raised him to hate someone that wasn’t his race he found true friendship with a friend (Robert who was black) through his job. They remained close throughout their friendship until he died from cancer and my dad made a promise to take care of his family. After a few years my dad and Robert’s widow (Laura) my mom fell in love and had two girls me and my sister Amber. We all became a family after my parents married. The significance of this to me is that now I understand why we were raised to love all people and not to discriminate because it’s cruel and hateful and as my dad says “its just plain wrong” and it has helped me to become an open-minded and a non-judgmental woman. In a second paragraph, describe how you felt after the experience. *What I experienced in that moment of learning everything that I was pretty sure was difficult for him was a feeling of complete understanding and appreciation. I grew up saying that I hated someone because of little things that were insignificant and not understanding the word and how much power it held. I went through a period of denial after learning that. To this day I have never met any of my dads immediate family, but...

...America be circumcised? I do think men in America should be circumcised. One reason I say this is because I heard more woman than not say they are grossed out by an uncircumcised penis. I myself am circumcised and it makes showering easier instead of having to mess with it and make sure you clean it completely unlike circumcised penises. 9/10 Pubic hair: to shave or not to shave? I honestly believe it is personal preference. Although from experience and talk with friends of mine we all shave our pubic hair. One consideration is for the respect of your significant other. Also I believe it is just cleaner and also makes it less irritating area to itch without hair. 9/24 Are men and women more alike or more different? Why? I believe men and woman are complete opposites until they both are fully mature and stable to settle down. Men and woman before settling down just want different things. Woman want to be more selective find that one guy and men love sexually activity and want to experience it with many partners before finding the one and only. Not to say woman do not enjoy sexual encounters but they tend to be less promiscuous as men. 10/1 Could gay people become straight if they really wanted to? I do not believe gay people could change who they are. You could attempt it but in reality you are born the way you are and that does not mean there is anything wrong with you just that it is not the norm. Just like being born in another country, sure I could want to be president...

...1302 June 22, 2013 Romance ideals Love is like an addiction to drugs. Some people crave it while others fear it. We want intimacy, but we also fear it because we are scared of commitment, being close to someone or even being alone. Within society, people seem to invest more time in finding love immediately than they do in grasping the real concept of love. In a typical college town, you would see many teenagers hanging out in groups rather than hanging out individually. Hanging out in groups allows for less attachment and just looking to have a good time with the people you know. It is less risky and has less potential to being hurt. Spending time one on one allows one to build actual feelings for one another, but “the date” could lead to something that one might regret including sexual encounters. It is more risky and has more potential to being hurt. We tend to think that the only way to be happy in life is to find a loved one and spend the rest of our lives with that significant other. Love is more varied and equally satisfying. Our view of love is inaccurate. When people are powerfully attracted to one another, they discuss having “chemistry” which only turns out to be a metaphor. When you are in love, there are a lot of chemicals reacting in your brain and body. In Love: The Chemical Reaction, Lauren Slater discusses “that certain powerful chemicals in our bodies, especially dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin, stimulate both the “high” of early romance and the less exciting...

...Heiwajima Shizuo, to be good at. But, I am, ever since high school. Luckily, no one was able to find out, not even my brother. But, after that person found out, that’s when my fifteen years started. ------------------------------------------------- During the first year, I was reckless as I had always been. After getting home from work with Tom, I’ll write him those shitty poems each and every day without falter. Licking those goddamn post stamps made my tongue itchy, sending those cards with my saliva. Heh, I know that it’ll be disgust him, being the freak that he is. The second year was the same. Reckless. But, I got a little in to it too much that I didn’t even notice my crappy apartment burning, not until I noticed that only the collar of my bartender suit was left. Kasuka was nice enough to buy me a new one, better too, and a frickin’ new set of bartender clothes, as my old ones were burned to ashes. I calmed down the third year, very proud of getting past the boundaries of literature. Three years of writing those shitty poems aren’t for nothing, y’know. On the fourth year, Celty found out about it. And, she encouraged me to send it to a magazine; Even telling me that I can change my name just so I agree to it. She apparently had Kasuka into it too. I eventually gave up and sent one. A week after, Tom told me he read the poem I sent to magazine and asked me why I don’t just be a professional poet; telling me that I didn’t need to worry about him and should...

...English 126 (4th Period) February 9, 2014 Tafuna High School As a student at the Home of the Mighty Warrior and a future graduate for the class of 2015, I strongly oppose and I know I am not alone with the idea of having a consolidate graduation. This is not because I'm against the fact that the Department and Government Leaders are trying to promote unity between the youths of American Samoa, but it's because of the complexity and the many negative possibilities. A consolidate graduation can cause disagreements which will lead us to violent behaviors and it will ruin the tradition of a high school graduation, and many more. You think the Flag Day traffic is bad; it will be a nightmare to those who will be out to support their love ones, their friends, and especially to the shorthanded Police department who will be working harder trying to avoid accidents. A combined graduation for five high schools would be insane. A very small disagreement between any of these schools will escalate to something that we might not be able to control. A graduation without violence is never a guaranteed. Nothing is guarantee in this crazy world. People celebrate an accomplishment either a graduate or a supporter in their own unique ways. Why not, it’s once a lifetime that you graduate from high school or seeing your daughter or son getting a high school diploma before heading out to discover the world. High School Graduation is a happy day. Love ones and friends will be out there to witness that...

..._ Word count = 2,491 The Obstacle Course for Getting Buy-in for Analytics Why is the adoption rate for applying analytics so slow? Technology is no longer the impediment. It once was, but software capabilities are proven. The barriers involve resistance to change and unfamiliarity. These are social, behavioral, and cultural issues; and few analysts are trained in behavioral change management. What is involved with these barriers, and how can analysts overcome resistance and get organizational buy-in? Organizations that achieve competency with analytics are able to sustain a long-term competitive advantage. Careers sometimes have more to do with luck and circumstances than being smart and competent. I have been fortunate in having luck to meet opportunity. My 1960s high school love for mathematics led to degrees in industrial engineering and operations research at Cornell University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. After ten years in CFO and operations line manager roles, I enjoyed fifteen years in management consulting on enterprise performance improvement projects with Deloitte, KPMG, and Electronic Data Systems (EDS, now owned by HP). During my consulting years I worked with the academic luminaries Professors Robert S. Kaplan and David Norton on balanced scorecards and also with Dr. Tom Davenport on analytics. This led to my authoring six business books. What I have learned through observation is that passion along...

...to turn the other cheek. The world assumes that evil must be resisted by every means available. We are told to love our enemies and bless those who curse us. The world assumes that friends are to be loved and enemies hated.”(Smith, p.212) If Jesus had not turned the other cheek and sacrificed himself for all of mans’ sins God would not be loving or forgiving of man and there would be no promise of eternal life which would take away life’s true meaning. The Bible clearly states that we are to love our enemies and be merciful and that doing so will yield a great reward for these holy actions. "But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."(Luke 6:35-36). Many followers of the Christian faith may not fully understand why Jesus is asking them to love their enemies. Why should we love those who wish to attack us and watch us fail? Jesus wants his followers to love their enemies to glorify God and demonstrate the same love and faith God shows toward us. Jesus wants his people to show their enemies the love and faith of Christ and to bring them the salvation that they need. Gods desire is to have all men find faith in Christ and by loving your enemies you show them Gods love and...

...was a long journey I don’t think I would ever change. In this paper I will cover and analyze the various dimensions of development at each stage, which are physical, cognitive, personality and social. Physical development is the growth of my body and brain, sensory capacities, motor skills, and health. Cognitive development is Learning, attention, memory, language, thinking, reasoning, and creativity. Psychosocial Development is my emotions, personality, and social relationship’s. That’s exactly what I am going to be talking about. As an infant to the age I am right now I have had my ups and downs, my bad moments etc. Child development takes over everything we do in life. “It focuses on the scientific study of systematic processes of change and stability in human child.” (Martorell 2013 pg4) When my mom was pregnant her prenatal stage was great for her. She did not have any difficult things happen to her. She had a pretty easy pregnancy and didn’t have trouble with anything. The OBGYN told my parents everything was perfect with her and I and it was true As I was born my parents got scared because I wasn’t breathing for a few seconds and then they heard my cry and they got relived and felt better to know I was okay. I weighed about the size of a regular size baby which was seven pounds and thirteen ounces. One day as I turned 6 months I couldn’t breath and was very hard for me to breath, so the doctors ended up telling my parents I had asthma and I was in the hospital...

...The Last I recall a brightly lit room on a Sunday morning, as I kissed her on the forehead, “I love you…” Slowly she opened her eyes and as she sat next to me, “Hey… Um… How many were there before me?” she asked. “Like, how many girls did you love before me?” “Love? Five…” I stated. “I loved five women before you.” The disappointment in her eyes after a sigh, though she smiled… “What are their names?” “…Who, What, When, Where, Why…” I said to her. “Can you tell me about them?” “Who I loved, was a girl from college. I wasn’t exactly close to her, but with some superficial facts and a few interactions over a semester, you know, like most guys fantasizing over girls they barely know, I filled in the blanks like a fairytale author. And who she became in my head was probably more than the reality. She was a third year, sorority girl, and yeah, I was an infatuated freshman, sure, but the several times you get to spend together outside of class… It really allowed me to see, she also had a good heart and a bright spirit. The only problem was, so did just about every other guy. And while she turned me down nicely, I swear… There were times when it seemed like the cliché sorority girl may have felt something for the typical awkward freshman.” “What I loved, was an old friend, but she was more than just a friend. We met early in college and kept in touch through the years. We saw each other grow, and change, and through multiple relationships. I saw her different...

...Starting high school is one of the biggest steps a teenager takes in their life. Before entering high school, their mind is filled with apprehensive thoughts of not fitting in or making new friends and feeling like they do belong. My doubts about not fitting in at high school evaporated the day I found out I had made it on the Fighting Cardinal Marching Band Color Guard. Choosing to tryout for the FCMB guard was by far the best choice I could have made entering high school. The reason why I chose to tryout is because my sister was in the FCMB and had many amazing experiences to share with me and I wanted to be in it to encounter those same feelings, but I did not want to play an instrument. I can still recollect the feelings I had when I was performing for the first time at tryouts and I, still to this day, cherish the excitement I felt when I received the news that I made had it. Without marching band in...

...college student, I have learned so much more from what I knew in my younger years. One thing that I learned and what I wish to pass on is my belief of what success is. Going through college, I have failed many times. My path on the pre-pharmacy program has not been a smooth one, to the point that I had to extend beyond a 3 year undergrad to a 3 and a half year undergrad. Starting college I did not have the best study habits nor focus to do well in my classes. This led me to have a mediocre GPA, but I was barely going to make the cut. Unfortunately, I overslept for a biology practical in the summer session, causing me to fail the lab which results in failing the class. This was devastating to my GPA as well as to my morale....

...How many of you have known a teenage mother at some point in your lives? Well you do even if you don’t realize it as I myself was a teenage mother. According to smith.edu over 1 million teenagers become pregnant each year in the United States with more than 530,000 of those giving birth. That means that 13% of the babies born each year are born to teenagers, most of whom are unmarried and do not have the financial ability to support a child. Today you all will learn about teenage pregnancy, including how many teenagers get pregnant and why, what challenges the mother and baby will face along the way, and what can be done to lower the incidence of teenage pregnancy.
