...Stop to Global Warming In order to have a healthy planet and a safe place for us and our children to live, we need to put a stop to Global Warming immediately. Our planet’s climate has risen over the past 2000 years because of the damage that people have caused. Fossil Fuels have been a major contributor (around 80%) of Global Warming pollution. This pollution has been the cause of many of our world’s wildfires, floods, and droughts. Any issue that affects our world, nation, or community can have some type of moral dilemma attached to it. In my opinion, the effects of Global Warming and putting a stop to them poses a large morality issue. If we continue to use the products that are harming the world, we know that it is going to add to the problem. Continuing to do something that we all know is wrong should go against all of our morals. We should be trying to improve the quality of our world so that our children and grandchildren will have a safe place to live. As a community, we all rely on fossil fuels for the gas that our vehicles require to operate. We have several landfills and city dumps that keep piling up trash that is soaked into the soil and puts off fumes into the environment. We also have several textile plants that put off enormous amounts of pollution into the air. Finding new ways to fuel our vehicles, eliminate waste, and run our major plants are all things that our community needs to address in order to find a way to help lessen the blow of Global Warming...

...Why must humans remain dominant over nature? Man takes so many things from nature and in return gives nothing. People disrespect nature with killing, global warming, and littering, which causes nature to be at a disadvantage. Hunting for game or sport is wrong. The idea of hunting is to make every part of the animal useful. Man causes nature to be at risk through hunting. It is understandable to hunt an animal and eat the meat from the animal, but the "Pros and Cons of Hunting" article says that "Some hunters will kill an animal and not even eat the meat" and that is wrong, it is cruel. During hunting, animals may experience pain and suffering, as if their life is nothing to us. "Pros and Cons of Hunting" also says that "Another con of hunting...

...Science of Uncertainty and Climate Science Even with researches on global warming starting as early as 1965, global warming is still hotly debated. At the present, almost all scientist acknowledge that the earth is warming up mainly due to human activities, but the public still somehow remain skeptical (Oreskes 169). Now that why global warming is even worth debating is a question for another day, but here we will discuss how the appeal in climate science as well as clarifying the several facts Bret Stephens gravely mistaken. In the scientific community, Hempel once suggested an idea in his 1965 essay, that no evidence can establish a hypothesis with certainty, and believing in a hypothesis will make one suspect to “inductive risk”, that is,...

...Arguments against anthropogenic climate change. • The temperature recordings are unreliable. • Global warming or climate change has become politicized which has closed down the debate on whether or not climate change is anthropogenic, in other words it creates a wealth of money that forces scientists to conform or lose their jobs. Those who believe that the change within the climate has no correlation with human activity have an abundant supply of never ending answers as to why climate change is not induced by mankind. One such argument that skeptics propose is that the temperature recordings that have been collected over the past century and even longer are inaccurate due to 9 out of every 10 weather stations failing to comply to their own...

...Essay on Pro Global Warming I believe that Global Warming has been here since we first started using machines, which used steam engines or combustion engines. The first type of wheeling automobile was made in 1769 that is about 250 years ago. So since the first type of ‘car’ was invented so much time ago, then we can assume that there has been carbon dioxide, smoke and steam in the atmosphere. When this happens the atmosphere breaks into little holes, through those holes the rays of the sun pass through the atmosphere, and therefore global warming is created. This is how global warming is produced, it has been present since a long time ago, and what I just went through is the process of it. “People tend to focus on the here and now. The problem is that, once global warming is something that most people can feel in the course of their daily lives, it will be too late to prevent much larger, potentially catastrophic changes.” Elizabeth Kolbert, The New Yorker, Apr 25, 2005. Kolbert, is a very successful writer, and she might not be known world wide, but she is very wise, because she wrote something seven years ago, which by now is becoming true. I feel that Global Warming is getting to a point that the whole world is about to meet him, because now only educated people know about it, and we must all know that global warming is real. As a matter of a fact one can see many reasons or facts to why Global Warming is real, and it is not only real, but also it is starting to get...

...Climate Change – Anthropogenic or Natural? One of the biggest issues in today’s media is the argument of climate change and global warming, and whether or not it is the result of human influence on the Earth or if it is a natural occurrence. Many people will tell you that climate change is the result of human impact on the Earth, while other people will say that the change is just a natural cycle the Earth goes through. Though both sides can produce evidence as to why they are right or why the other person is wrong, only you can decide what to believe is right and what is wrong. What exactly is climate change? Climate change is the fluctuation in weather and temperature on Earth either in a specific part of the world, or even the entire world itself. Many people question if the climate is even changing, or if it just some conspiracy though up by the government in order to get money. There is no doubt that the Earth’s climate is indeed changing. The Earth is in warming stage that is being called global warming. Although many experts agree that the Earth is in fact warming, they argue over the cause of the warming. Some say that the reason for the warming is because of a natural cycle that the Earth goes through regularly, while others say that man is the cause of the warming. According to some experts the Earth’s temperature has been steadily increasing since the 1800’s. For this reason they are saying that the past two decades have been the hottest on record (http://news...

...Global Warming An Inconvenient Truth, a bold message that drew all the attention throughout the world about global warming was written and presented by former Vice President Al Gore. In his documentary, Al Gore discusses many global issues as well as the personal relevance they bear in his and all of our lives today and in our futures. The book, as a whole, is a huge success. It also raises public awareness of global climate change and tells the truth that lies behind global warming. It is a very daring book. However, some critiques have been made of Al Gore’s approach. The criticism is not whether global warming is true, or whether or not An Inconvenient Truth should have won an Academy Award for best documentary, but whether Al Gore has presented the information correctly and honestly. Many people argue that he has exaggerated, and he wrote the book because he wanted to gain popularity and money. Conservatives even use Gore’s mistakes to discredit his whole book. Even though Gore has made some mistakes, his central ideas are broadly accurate, and his use of good strategies makes his argument really convincing. Since the book An Inconvenient Truth got published, many people have become nervous, and they attacked Gore personally, such as people from polluting firms and organizations that were funded by polluters. Sean Hannity reports on Fox News channel’s Hannity & Colmes when Gore was running his campaign. He says that Gore’s use of a jet from New Hampshire back to Washington...

...“The earth has a fever and the fever is rising … We are what is wrong, and we must make it right.” In the context of global warming, discuss the extent to which you agree with this statement. (40 Marks) Global warming refers to the way that heat is being trapped in the atmosphere due to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is when heat is trapped in our atmosphere by gases such as Carbon Dioxide. The greenhouse effect is actually a good thing because without it, the Earth’s global temperature would be around 33 degrees’ cooler which would mean life on earth would be completely different as ecosystems etc. would have to adapt to this. However, global warming is when there is too much of the greenhouse effect so too much heat is being trapped in our atmosphere and therefore causing the global climate to increase in heat. “The earth has a fever and the fever is rising … We are what is wrong, and we must make it right.” suggests that humans are the reason that the temperature has risen in the last century. Over the last 100 years (since 1900), the global surface temperature has risen by around 0.85°c (1.53°F). Although this doesn’t sound like a huge difference, it is around 10 times faster than average. Since the 1950s, the earth’s atmosphere has also increased in temperature, by roughly 0.1°c per decade (a similar rate to the earth’s surface), as well as the oceans absorbing heat and are now about 0.4°c warmer than in 1969. The fact that the atmosphere has also...

...“There has been consensus among scientists for years that global warming is a serious problem and that it is caused by human activity” (“Global Warming Solutions A Basics.”, n.d.).I am here to tell you, global warming is a real and serious threat. With the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere the land and ocean temperatures have increased. Over the last 25 years, 11 of the 12 warmest years on record have occurred in the past 12 years. Something needs to be done to change this trend. This is where each and every one of us comes in. You might not think things in your everyday life have an effect on global warming but you are wrong. Here in the Midwest, we are at the center of our global warming problems and can be at the center of our solutions (“Global Warming Solutions A Basics.”, n.d.). Just making relatively small changes in your homes can make a huge impact on global warming if everyone makes similar changes. A new heating and cooling system is one of the biggest upfront costs for a green change, but it has the biggest return as well; in the form of money saved and lessening pollution. “As much as half of the energy used in your home goes to heating and cooling. So making smart decisions about your home's heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system can have a big effect on your utility bills” (“Heat & Cool Efficiently,” n.d.). Which is why you should start with this change. Although simply replacing your system all together could be the most cost effective...

...burning coal and oil the two of the world’s most top reasons why global warming is happening. If we do not do anything about it what we call as our today we will be saying was our planet yesterday. If global warming continues and temperatures continue to rise then it will be enough to have the polar caps all but melted. If this happens majority of Americas border will be under water including the famous city New York. Monuments and great building, as well as homes and lives will be lost forever, unless we all work together and take action to stop global warming today! I know we are all concerned about the effect global warming we can feel its affects on a daily basis. Yes we have heard it all before, but what can we do as individuals do to help save our planet? If everyone made some minor changes in their life than it we will have already started in saving our planet. Australia is particularly vulnerable to global warming environmentally and economically. We already live on the driest inhabited continent on earth. We are already experiencing more severe droughts in the bush, and water shortages in our cities. Victoria faced some of the worst bushfires on record. Professor David Karoly from the University of Melbourne’s school of earth sciences discusses how the record heat waves and prolonged drought prior to February 2009 bushfires in Victoria could be linked directly to global warming. We can stop global warming, but only by making major reductions in the amount...

...The topic of Global Warming has been a main topic for discussion for many years now. Most people know that the question is whether global warming is a natural cycle or whether it is caused or triggered by human activity. Different scientists have different opinions on this topic and have gone to great lengths in trying to find the most accurate answer. Some say there is a natural cycle out there and that earth’s temperatures increase due to a natural path that is perfectly normal. The fact is that earth left the natural path a long time ago. The past few decades the increase in temperatures all over the world have been way off the charts from years past according to an article by Alex Morales. Temperatures have been skyrocketing and scientists have no other explanation other than to say that human activity is the main cause of climate change to this point. Humans are the main cause of global warming and climate change. It really isn’t hard to see, yet most scientists won’t totally agree on this answer proven many times over. Humans always use nasty chemicals and gases in their basic everyday lives. The main gas is carbon dioxide that is released when humans drive their cars. This was stated in the article, “Final Report: Humans caused global warming”, by David Biello. Anyone can see that there is being a lot of this gas being released up into our atmosphere. This is in turn, is heating the planet at a much quicker rate than normally and making our temperatures...

...Review & Personal Reflection on Global Warming When talking to my family over thanksgiving break about school and my current class load for the semester, one of the more interesting topics that was brought up was the debate over global warming. It was interesting to hear the viewpoints of my mother’s side and fathers’ side of the family. For the most part my mothers’ side of the family are hardcore republicans and use faith as a basis for most of their political positions, while my fathers’ side (not my father however) tend to lead more towards the democratic viewpoint on politics. While I am a catholic and would consider myself to lean towards more of a conservative viewpoint, I try to separate faith from politics and focus more on what I believe is the core of the issue being debated and how it can be solved, not necessarily to benefit the majority, but rather what would be a fair compromise between to the two arguing sides. With this being said my two sides of the family did not see eye to eye on global warming (side note: these conversations were at two different family parties as I would never try to talk politics especially given the circumstance of two very different viewpoints in my family). After talking a lot about global warming my uncle told me about a book he had read about it entitled Climate of Extremes. I decide to read this book and write a report on it, to obtain more knowledge on the subject of global warming. Like stated above the title of the...

...2010 A Skeptic’s View of Global Warming Is global warming really happening? Is it something that we should truly fear, and if so, why? Scientists and other climate experts have been trying to answer these important questions and many others concerning global climate change for decades. Before one can truly delve into the details of global warming, it is important to define the concept. The entire study of climate change is difficult to explain, and is not yet fully understood by scientists. However, global warming can be simply described as the process of the earth’s atmosphere increasing in temperature due to the presence of greenhouse gases, which include carbon dioxide and are produced through the burning of fossil fuels and various other means. These gasses are actually part of Earth’s natural processes, for they trap heat that allows Earth’s temperature to sustain life. The effects of this process can be seen as a blessing and a curse. Just the right amount of them helps the earth maintain a somewhat constant temperature; too much may cause temperatures to rise to frightening heights. Since 1880, when instruments used to precisely measure atmospheric temperatures were invented, the Earth’s surface temperature has risen about 0.36° F for each decade up to the twenty first century (Voiland). This information presents a clear warning about the matter: that global warming is present and cannot be ignored. Most extremists feel that global warming will lead to dire consequences...

Most skeptics of Global Warming have said and will say again, “The earth has taken care of itself for millions of years. It goes through cycles from time to time. It doesn’t matter what humans do, Mother Nature is stronger than us all.” Although these opinions have some truth and relevance in the argument against the reality of Global Warming and its effects on the planet, it also seems incredibly short sighted to not explore the emerging data that has continued to grow in recent years supporting the idea that humans do indeed have an affect on how the planet and her inhabitants will continue to live and grow in the years to come. With advances in technology measuring these effects more accurately...

...Global Warming Mary Werner Lower Division Capstone IP#1 July 13, 2012 Global Warming Abstract: Global Warming has been around since the Ice Age, or so some think. Some people believe that Global Warming is a serious problem where others may argue it is nothing to concern ourselves about. In this report, we will read some thoughts of some FOX News fans and see their opposing thoughts and comments. We will also read the debate between 2 Doctors who have very different views about Global Warming. Global Warming Global Warming is the rise in the world’s stratosphere and oceans since the latter part of the nineteenth century. [1] From before the 1900’s, the worlds mean surfaced stratosphere has increased by about 0.8 °C (1.4 °F), increasing by 2/3 since 1980.[2] Global temperatures increase causing sea levels to rise drastically bringing changes to the amount and the pattern of our precipitation which then expands subtropical deserts.[3] In the Arctic, it is believed that Glaciers, permafrost and sea ice is believed to be caused by the warming. Some different types of heat waves could be droughts, heavy rain and changes in crop yields. From all around the world we continually see the degree in which warming varies.[4] If the word “global” means temperatures increasing to 4 °C (7.2 °F)”, then limitations for adapting to our physical bodies is most likely exceeding in most areas...
