Although the NSA’s programs are illegal and unconstitutional it can help to protect U.S citizens from terrorism. President Barack Obama assures that the NSA “may help identify potential leads to folks who may engage in terrorism”(Transcript: Obama’s remarks on NSA controversy). Even though it may identify potential leads to terrorism the programs go against the Fourth Amendment in the constitution, which says “right of the people to be secure in their persons, house, papers and effects against unreasonable search and seizure” (Fourth Amendment). The chairman of the house claims that “NSA is not listening to calls or monitoring emails” (How the NSA’s surveillance procedures threatens American privacy).
