The statement, “you will either control time or be controlled by it” (Lake, A. & von Baeyer, C. 2005) has always lingered in the back of my mind, as my parents would say this to me often when trying to balance life, school, and work. Having a strong sense of time management has given me the ability to balance whatever it is I am confronted with. Whether it be finding time to do school assignments while working full time and also continuing my busy life, or whether it be passing meds, doing dressing changes, placing a foley, and admitting a patient all within a busy hour, time management is essential. Not only does it allow for a less-stressful flow, it also allows me to accomplish my tasks in a timely fashion and feel organized and in-control of what I am doing. I feel having this characteristic as a strong point will help me in this course because not only do I work full-time at night, but I also- like most other students- have a busy life surrounding me as well. Being able to manage what is laid out in front of me will assist in me being a successful student, without neglecting work or my personal life. Some of which still remain in important museums like the Musee du Louvre and the Brooklyn Museum. There has also been many artists of today that recreate past paintings and change the message being delivered to the audience. For example, in 1801 Jacques-Louis David created the painting Napoleon Crossing Saint-Bernard. This painting is now located in the Natural Museum of Château de Malmaison which is 12km from Paris. In 2005, two hundred and four years later to be exact, an artist named Kehinde Wiley created the painting Napoleon Leading the Army Over the Alps. This painting has been placed in the Brooklyn Museum and has become part of their collection. These two paintings are considered to be practically the same thing yet deliver a distinct message, as in the modern version it changes the main character as well as his appearance and message. Therefore, Wiley’s painting is better than Jacques-Louis painting as it expresses a different aspect of humanity being in power. The ability to communicate effectively is necessary in all aspects of life, especially when debating a subject. Ng Texas A&M University abstract For over three decades, the questions of how and why an organization diversifies into related and unrelated businesses have drawn the attention of strategy scholars. However, explanations of unrelated diversification have been less than clear. A conceptual model of unrelated diversification is thus proposed. In drawing on Penrose’s (1959) resource based approach, unrelated diversification is explained by an organization’s ‘three pillars’, which consist of its strength of dynamic capabilities, absorptive capacity, and weak ties. The role of the three pillars is to discover new resource applications or uses in conditions of market failure that are characterized by ‘incomplete’ markets. A novel feature of this model is that an organization can diversify more broadly than predicted by Penrose (1959) and other modern resource-based approaches (Teece et al., 1997). Furthermore, unrelated diversification can be beneficial. This study also offers suggestions to measure the three pillars; its contributions and implications are discussed as well. In particular, it focuses on empirical studies in which both teamwork and performance are directly measured in a quantitative way. The paper begins by identifying four interrelated dimensions of teamwork effectiveness: attitudinal, behavioural, operational and financial. The first two represent transmission mechanisms by which organizational performance can be improved. The latter two provide direct measures of organizational outcomes. The review shows that teamworking has a positive impact on all four dimensions of performance. It also reveals that, when teamwork is combined with structural change, performance can be further enhanced.
