Nearly everyone knew about the visible planets before the year of 1781. However, a man of the name William Hershcel had the curiosity of discovering that which could not be seen. So after he worked through the day, he would “play” looking at the stars at night. He became so interested in the universe that he began to build telescopes, which became the most sophisticated of his time. As he studied, he began examining double stars and came across a large object. He asked himself what it could be; shortly after it was claimed it to be a comet due to it’s movement across the sky.
