...wants a good life partner but the qualities or attributes they want differ from person to person. So what I wish for is that I want her to love me the way I will love her. Also I don’t want a queen because I will treat her like queen. There are many things that I have thought I will do after marriage. Some of them are cooking with her, helping in household work as I am an expert in this field, party with her and going mad and many more which are not appropriate to tell here. I have planned what I will do for her before marriage, after marriage and in life. I wish her to be understanding about my work, my lifestyle and trustworthy. Trust is the backbone of any relationship, trust gone everything gone. So this is what I wish for and in return I promise her wherever she is that I will love her so much that she can’t imagine and be a perfect partner and we will live happily 2nd: The most important thing I wish for is that I want my stammering problem to just go away. Yes I stammer a lot, but improving year after year, doing hard work, working better on my communication skill. The main reason for this wish is just to improve my communication skill, as it hinders in almost everything in life. I feel very shy to talk to anyone. When I see other boys just going talking to any girl and getting along, then this goes to another level, I feel bad for myself thinking why can’t you do this. Also other than this there are many more reasons like going in for a interview, group discussion...

...Genie and His Wishes Life as a genie means that no one asks you what your wishes are, but sometimes I wonder what life would be like if I were the one who was granted three wishes. Would I feel guilty about taking someone's wishes that were granted to them? It’s always me granting the wishes for once I would like to be getting my three wishes. Would I have any remorse afterwards? Let’s see what wishes I would choose and some examples of the importance of each wish . As a genie for thousands of years there are so many wishes to choose from, but I have narrowed it to three. My first wish is very important for me, and I am sure that others would agree on the importance of happiness for all. Another wish is to have more friends, because it gets very lonely in the bottle I currently live in. Last of all, my most important wish, I wish to live outside the bottle, and as normal human being. Now I will explain the importance of each wish and how it will affect my life in the future. My first wish is for happiness to all. I think that has a nice sound to it, don’t you? It is tough being a genie, but it’s also very gratifying helping others in need. Yes, I know there are going to be ups and downs from whatever you wish for, but you can learn to deal with what life throws at you that might transpire from a first wish. Most people in the world today want something that is better than they already have. This first wish will help others to deal with personal, emotional, and other issues...

...his pocket. There is this thing about the paw. It is magical. Anyone who owns the paw gets three wishes, but one thing is there to know – magic comes with a price. Mr. Whites wants the paw, but he has to buy it first so he wishes for two hundred pounds. The paw symbolizes the greed and desire that is part of a human and Mr. White has a lovely home and a happy family, but he still wishes for money that he may not even use. Because of his wish, Herbert dies at a machinery and his corpse comes to knock at the family door. Mr. White uses his last wish to wish the son gone, because he is afraid of what might be on the other side of the door. He will not take the chance. In “The Monkey’s Paw” Mr. White and his son love playing chess. They are both competitive persons so they play a lot chess to get revenge on each other. The chess can symbolize life. Certain things can suddenly change everything, into good but also bad things and every choice you make, have consequences for your future. ...be angry that the workaholic isn’t spending enough time with them. This is a common marital issue that could result in adultery. Sacrificing even a little of time at work to be at home with the family could easily fix this problem. Desire was a common word used in this reading which I knew the meaning of but looked up the definition anyway. Desire means to wish, want, or long for. Desires are a natural part of human thought processes. We all want this or that for Christmas or wish for happiness etc. Wishing is a very common idea for children. Children are always told to wish upon a star or make a wish when you blow the candles on your birthday cake. Wishing is implanted into our brains at a very young age. Some teenagers will wish for better parents or that their brother or sister has never been born. These are most likely regretful wishes that if they every came true the saying “Be careful what you wish for”, would be said. After hearing this, the teenager will have a better perspective on how to appreciate what you have and make sacrifices. Relationships will undoubtedly test your emotions to the point where you question your willpower and values. The thought the author kept using “Isn’t there supposed to be something...

...In the short story The Monkey’s Paw written by W.W Jacobs there are a lot of themes, the one I feel is the most important theme is be careful what you wish for and do. I say this because there is a lot of irony and suspense. The irony in this story was an example of when Mr.White wanted Herbert back and then he secretly wished for him back without thinking, this was ironic. The suspense in this story builds up when you find you find out that Herbert was wished away to not be alive then at the last second Mrs.White wishes him away. I think these literary devices help build the theme because the irony shows Mr.white making a wish and he wasn’t thinking and later regretting it. He raised his hand, I wish my son alive again”. This is an example of how Mr.White wished for his son to be alive again, he did this impulsively....

...Tempting Fate Throughout the short story “The Monkey’s Paw”, the idea of magic, wishes and fate are casually introduced by Jacobs. Fate is a development of events that is beyond a person’s control and is predetermined by supernatural powers. Jacobs raises a genuine chill by underplaying the threats that will arise when tempting fate. Through greed, and supernatural events Jacobs weaves a tale to show that fate rules people’s lives and that those who interfere with it will suffer the consequences. The idea that the monkey’s paw is of supernatural origin is first brought to light by the sergeant-major who informs the White Family that “It has a spell put on it by an old fakir a very holy man” (Jacobs 2) which allows three wishes to be made by three separate men. The Sergeant-Major continues to tell the White family that the monkey’s paw has supernatural powers, he foreshadows through the words “He wanted to show that fate ruled people’s lives, and that those who interfered with it did so to their sorrow” (Jacobs 2). Through this quote, “The ominous threat of the paw is presented” (Brantingham). The Sergeant-Major warns the White family that wishing on the monkey’s paw and changing their destiny will not appeal to the supernatural world and they will suffer the consequences. Continuing on with the idea of the supernatural, there are a few instances within the short story that support the idea of the monkey’s paw coming from an uncanny universe. The first instance is that everything...

...Guilt can make you do things that aren’t the best for your situation and make problems worse. These two stories that are a part of this essay are two ideas of what guilt can make you do. In the Monkey’s Paw and the Tell-Tale Heart, their cause-and-effect relationship is that being greedy or selfish can cause guilt and the feeling of suspense from the guilt causes them to do things that aren’t sensible. Consequently, guilt and the reaction to guilt causes complications. In the Monkey’s Paw, the White family was selfish and wish for money. As a consequence, their son was killed causing them to feel remorse. Mrs. White felt miserable and thoughtlessly wanted her son back no matter the cost; even though she saw the consequences to the last wish....

... well as much as we like the idea it is not going to happen. We have children who are suffering from life- threatening illnesses who do not have a chance to be a kid or to grow up with the memories of childhood. We try all we can as parents and family to keep our children safe we just can not perdict a child getting a life threating illness, we do all we can to make our child happy while going through a scary ordeal. If we can make one dream come true for a sick child for one day of forgetting they are staring down a life threatening illness and make that child laugh wouldn't giving that child a wish come true be amazing? The social program I am creating is a program to help a child who is terminally ill or has a life threatening illness called “Dreams Come True.” A dream come True program would for one day grant sa wish one child makes come true. To make this happen I would need to set up the program, find donors and volunteers, financing to help the wishes come true. Advances in medicine and modern technonogy have increased the survival rate in children with chronic illness, including illnessess that were considered fatal (Cohen,1995).Witnessing the child's pain and fear, combined with the constant fear of death makes it difficult for the family to function normally and plan for the future (Haas, 1990; Rolland, 1994; Sloper, 2000). Literature on the differential impact of the child's chronic illness on the...

...Rochester is a different type of hero, while displaying qualities superior to most men, his unconventional outlook borders on villainy. Discuss the characterization of Mr Rochester in jane eyre in light of this statement. Mr Rochester is different and varies from the idea of the conventional tragic Byronic hero. Byronic heroes are usually extraordinarily handsome or appealing physically. However, from a physical point of view, Mr Rochester is not in any way handsome in a traditional sense. In chapter 13, he is described as “having broad and jetty eyebrows; his square forehead, made squarer by the horizontal sweep of his black hair. I recognised his decisive nose, more remarkable for character than beauty; his full nostrils, denoting, I thought, choler; his grim mouth, chin, and jaw—yes, all three were very grim, and no mistake. His shape, now divested of cloak, I perceived harmonised in squareness with his physiognomy”. Although his craggy looks should in fact make him a social outcast, he overcomes his physical “deformities” by having a passionate and colourful personality, making him one of the most sensual and interesting characters in jane eyre. People are drawn to him despite his physical appearance, and he has a high standing in society (although this could be attributed partly to his wealth). Next, Byronic heroes are wounded physically and/or emotionally—vulnerable in some way. We first encounter Mr Rochester when his horse slipped on the ice, causing him to fall...
