Wow!! I went to see the “Phanatsmatical: Self-Portraits” collection by artist, Anne Harris tonight. I had no idea what her work was like. I called to see if the Memphis College of Art would still be open after 5 because I couldn’t get there before then. I spoke with the assistant to the president of the college and she said she would talk to the security, give him my name, and have him let me in. Her exact words after that were, “We have a beautiful exhibit by Anne Harris on display!” I was so excited

My experience in the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) was one that I won’t soon forget. I found being surrounded by all of these beautiful pieces of art to be an amazing feeling. I have had similar experiences, but I've never been asked to actually exam the art. Due to the material I’ve learned in Basic Design, it has made me appreciate the work much more. If anything, it enhanced my experience. During my time at the DIA there was one particular piece of art that did catch my eye: Ellen’s Isle, Loch

The painting, The Dispute between Minerva and Neptune over the Naming of the City of Athens by René-Antoine Houasse, can relate to the book, The Odyssey by Homer, because when looking at the painting many predictions can be made about The Odyssey in relation to the painting.
