I recently attended the Double Reed Day Concert presented by the UNL School of Music. This particular concert had only faculty. The two primary instruments used were oboe and bassoon with accompaniment provided by a harpsichord and piano. There was almost never a time where an instrument was resting in a piece; each voice started and ended at the same time. Most of the performed pieces were fairly old and it was very apparent as the style of playing gave a certain “old” feeling which will be

The Concert Environment: The National Lutheran choir’s performance is located in a church setting. There are statues and trees that give a very nice background. The choir, as well as the conductor, is dressed in black robes. The Mormon Tabernacle choir’s performance also seems to be in a church setting. The choir is dressed in white and the people playing instruments, as well as the conductor, are wearing black. The Marine Band’s performance is set in a high school gym. There are tables behind them

On the night of October 14, 2007, I attended my first concert. It was held at 6 o’clock p.m. on the Bluff at Henry George Park in Fairhope, AL. The concert was sponsored by the City of Fairhope and the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation. The concert featured music from the late Classical Era, the Romantic Era and the 20th Century Era. The Pops Band performed under conductors Randy Davis and Dr. Roger Jones. The first two selections, The Star Spangled Banner and Strike Up the Band were both played

Sleeping Beauty Lauren Lehman On April 21, 2014 I watched the online performance of Sleeping Beauty performed by the Jacobs School of Music at the Musical Arts Center in Indianapolis. I have never personally been to the Musical Arts Center, but from the online streamed video, the place looks magnificently huge and phenomenal. The stage was absolutely stunning. It was big, vibrant, and breathtaking. It made it look as if you actually went back in time and were a part of the performance. The

Mary F Blige and D’ Angelo The first concert I attended for the semester was by the legendary Mary J. Blige and D’angelo. The venue was the United Center on Sep 13, 2012 at 9:00. This had to be one of the best concerts I have ever attended, and coming from me I think that says a lot. This because I have attended hundreds of different genre concerts over the years. Let me first start off with D’ Angelos opening performance. You could say his band began the show with

The one in particular that I attended was called “The Virtuoso Liszt” in which Charles Foreman was performing. He performed a number of works by Franz Liszt, one of which being Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 and was also his opener. Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 had two distinct sections; a slow section and a fast section. The piece is in duple metre and has a pulse throughout the piece although during the first motive, the presence of the pulse is questionable (mainly because of expressive purposes). The

The concert that I attended was the Euclid quartet at the first Presbyterian Church. The church itself wasn’t very big but there was a lot of people there and it made it really hard to find a parking space. On the inside the church looked like any ordinary chapel. The large amount of people that were there were dressed very nice and once again I was under dressed. I did however notice more students at this one than I did at BVSO and they were also underdressed which made me feel better. The performers

the doors. As you enter the small quaint shop, it is designed in local artist motif, everything on the walls is listed for sale. The seating arrangement is that of a small concert hall in the evenings, this is to accommodate the array of musicians that grace the café. If you find yourself in attendance of these amazing concerts be prepared to have a one of a kind up close and personal experience. The Robin Henkel band was the musical selection of the evening. This Jazz Quintet had a very family

4/1/15 Concert Report #1 Unaware of the crowd attraction that musical concerts around this area bring, I was pleasantly surprised at the "hype" of the upcoming X GAMES in Aspen, Colorado. As I searched through who would be performing, I noticed two major names in the HipHip genre that I was very interested in attending. We chose to make the hour and a half drive from Grand Junction to Aspen in order to experience Snoop Dogg's concert. Since Snoop Dogg had musically influenced all three of us throughout our lives
