Sympathy is apparent in this selection, it’s obvious that Capote wrote these sentences with a hint of sadness. Perry became seen as a pathetic man, and these are his last spoken words to the world before he died. Capote feels sorrow for this man, he exacerbates these sentences so that the reader engages into the emotion with him.
