...DHCP Troubleshooting From: Admin To: Junior Admin One very common DHCP related issue is the assignment of an unexpected IP address. For example, suppose that your DHCP server was configured with an IP address scope of 192.168.0.1 to 192.1680.50. You would expect network hosts to be assigned IP addresses in this range. Now, suppose that a workstation on your network appeared to be having problems communicating with network servers. You issue an IPCONFIG /ALL command to view the workstation’s IP address configuration. Instead of the expected address range, the workstation has been assigned an address beginning with 169.254. If a host on your network is unexpectedly assigned an address beginning with 169.254, you can rest assured that the address was not assigned by your DHCP server. What actually has happened is that the workstation has failed to contact a DHCP server. When this occurs, the workstation will assign itself an IP address using a Windows feature known as Automatic Private IP Addressing (APIPA). Microsoft built Automatic Private IP Addressing into Windows as a way of helping those who have very small networks. For example, if you were to create a small Windows network, you would not have to manually configure IP addresses even if there were no DHCP server on the network. APIPA would automatically assign a unique class B IP address to each machine on the network. This is great for small home networks but completely inappropriate for larger networks. If a workstation...

Explain the reasoning behind the concept of “subnet zero.” Using subnet zero for addressing was discouraged because of the confusion inherent in having a network and a subnet with indistinguishable addresses, consider the IP address 172.16.1.10. If you calculate the subnet address corresponding to this IP address, the answer you get is subnet 172.16.0.0 (subnet zero). Note that this subnet address is identical...

...Unit 1. Exercise 1. IP Addressing Scenario Course Objectives and Learning Outcomes In this Exercise, you will explain IP address components, contrast classful and classless IP addressing, and explain the function of DNS and DHCP. Assignment Requirements Respond to the following scenario with design considerations and recommendations: You are an IT Administrator for a newly founded company and have been tasked with designing an IP addressing scheme and a plan for allocation and management of IP addresses. The company will currently have a single, physical location with approximately 145 hosts (computers, printers, etc.). IT plans should accommodate 50% growth within the next two years. At a minimum, address these specific questions, in addition to any other concerns/considerations: 1. What subnet range/s should be used? 2. Should IP addresses be dynamically or statically assigned? 3. Should one or more network/subnets be used? 4. If DHCP is used, should a router, firewall or Windows Server be utilized and why? Respond in detail, justifying your recommendations. In your response, consider future growth and design considerations. Submission Requirements 1-2 pages, Microsoft Word, double-spaced, 12 pt. font In response to your question I would use a classless addressing and start at 172.16.0.0 for your network address with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. This gives you 254 hosts per subnet which will easily cover your 50% growth over the next...

...COMPANY MERGER SCENARIO I understand that as we begin the transition of merging our two companies into one, there are many concerns. First, I need to know what operating system (OS) our new friends are using. I understand that they are using a directory service (DS), however, without knowing what type of DS they are using or what OS they are using, it is very hard to determine how to approach merging them with us. If they are using the same OS that we use, or even an older version of the Windows active directory (AD), the transition can be fairly seamless. Will the company we merge with be maintaining their existing network or will we be absorbing them into ours? If they will be maintaining their existing network, we will need to establish a trust between our DNS and theirs, to allow for the exchange of information more simply and to allow the sharing of all resources (i.e. files, printers, documents, etc.). We will also, need to know what groups and securities they have set up to allow all users to be able to access resources needed. I will need to know what members have access to certain files, because we don’t need for accounting to have access to human resources files or vice versa. If they will be merging into our network, we will need to merge their IP addresses or expand our scope of IP addresses to allow for an IP address renewal. Once I have these questions answered, I will be able to develop a much more in depth plan to account for this transition. Please, if...

...The Renaissance: Artists and Concepts The Italian Renaissance occurred from 1330 to 1550 on the heels of the Middle Ages in Italy and is described as one of the most influential times in art history. It brought about new ideas about art, science, and government. Feudalism which had been fiercely popular during the Middle Ages was beginning to trickle out of popularity while concepts such as humanism and Neo-Platonism started taking hold. The Renaissance is divided into the Early Renaissance which lasted from 1330 to 1450 and the High Renaissance which continued from 1450 to 1550. Many legendary artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Botticelli acquired their claim to fame during this time period. The Early Renaissance which began in 1330 introduced the concepts of Neo-Platonism and humanism. Neo-Platonism sought to reconcile humanism with Christianity, to blend the teachings of Plato and other ancient philosophers with the teachings of the Church. Humanism strove to portray lifelike human forms with correct proportions and realistic clothing and expressions. Artists developed new techniques to give paintings a more three-dimensional, life-like quality, and commonly studied human and animal anatomy in efforts to better understand their subjects. Sandro Botticelli is probably the best known and most influential painter from the Early Renaissance, although his works remained relatively unknown until several centuries later. The concept of Neo-Platonism and humanism can both...

...Evaluation of L – Proline as a Catalyst for an Asymmetric Aldol Reaction Abstract This reaction is divided into two parts. In the first part acetone, L – proline and 4 – nitrobenzaldehyde are reacted to give (R)-4-hydroxy-4-(4-nitrophenyl)butan-2-one as the major product along with (S)-4-hydroxy-4-(4-nitrophenyl)butan-2-one. The identity of the product is confirmed by IR spectra of the product which gives peaks at 1073.94 cm-1, 1330 cm-1, 1515.05, 1600.13 cm-1, 1708.25 cm-1, 2930.82 cm-1and broad peak at 3418.10 cm-1. The mass of the product is 0.013 grams which gives a percentage yield of 29.81%. The melting point of the product is not taken due to minimal product. In the second part of the reaction excess reagents are used and the synthesized product is in very small quantities. The product synthesized is diastereomers of 1-(4-nitrophenyl)-3-oxobutyl 3,3,3-trifluoro-2-methoxy-2-phenylpropanoate. The identity of this compound is confirmed by the following peaks seen in 1H NMR: 8.19 and 7.62 ppm, 5.47 ppm, 2.90, 2.13 ppm, 3.30 ppm, 7.36 – 7.38 ppm. The melting point, IR spectrum, theoretical yield or percentage yield is not found since all of it used in 1H NMR analysis. The product 1H NMR shows a mix of both the diastereomers, but it is difficult to ascertain which one is in excess. Introduction The aldol reaction that was experienced in this lab is the nucleophillic addition of an enolate to a carbonyl group to form a B-hydroxycarbonyl. This reaction is a very powerful...

...and White women found that White women reported more gender advantages with things such as economic benefits and freedom of expression (Settles et al. 20, pg. 460). Essentially, as previously mentioned, these images are responsible for the hypersexualization and ultimately, the sexual victimization Black women. Sexual Victimization Amongst all women, studies have reported that 50% of women are sexually harassed in post-secondary or the workplace (Settles et al. 2008, pg. 455). Although, studies have reported that Black women are more likely to experience high rates of sexual victimization; in fact, the rate is double than average (Kennedy et al. 2012, pg. 1330). Moreover, they are more likely to experience coerced sexual contact and frequently witness cases of abuse within their family (Kennedy et al. 2012, pg. 1330). Another study also found that though both black and white women experience sexual harassment, black women reported that they were more likely to experience racially charged sexual harassment (Settles et al. 2008, pg. 454). Kennedy et al. (2012) argued that the unique experiences Black women face that consist of “disorganization, low emotional warmth, cohesion, and poor supervision” can be followed by experiences of sexual and physical victimization (Kennedy et al. 2012, pg. 1331). And, the continuous presence of violence in an individual’s life can possibly result in the normalization of violent relationships, ultimately influencing their perceptions of social...
