Diagnostic Model
The model I have chosen to apply to my two companies is the 7-S Framework model. I believe that this model is the best model to identify and measure the important aspects of my two organizations performances. Tom Peters and Robert Waterman developed the model in the early 1980’s. The 7-S Framework model helps to analyze the organizations position to achieve. It focuses on if they can achieve its intended objective or will it fall through. According to Mindtools.com,

“The 7S model can be used in a wide variety of situations where an alignment perspective is useful, for example to help you: * Improve the performance of a company. * Examine the likely effects of future changes within a company. * Align departments and processes during a merger or acquisition. * Determine how best to implement a proposed strategy.”

It is broken up into seven elements. Each element has a different meaning and purpose to help define, identify and descried what management and culture can influence. The purpose of the elements is to help aligned organizations in order for them to be successful. The elements are Strategy, Structure, Systems, Superordinate Goals, Skills, Style and Staff. Strategy is the element the will help you develop a plan that will have an advantage over the necessary change provided. It is the chosen route to competitive success. Structure is the overall design of the plan. It will present the way the organization is structured and what is needed. The purpose of the element System is to report the daily procedures and activities that are needed to get the job done. It job is to show how things will operate. Superordinate Goals, which is also known as Shared Values is based on the vision. It will help on the core value of the organization and its general work ethic. The particular style that the organization has chosen to administer this change describes the Style element. It describes those actions that are made by the organization. Skill is the dominating capabilities of the organization. The text describes some skill to include, customer service, quality control and innovation. The last element is Staff, which is very simple. The Staff is the people that organization has employed with them to help with the development of the organization.

Why 7-S Framework.

I chose this model because it represents the companies that I have chosen. The ways that Dominos and Target have implemented their change is a model image of this diagnostic model. Dominos have started the re-crate their entire business and brand. They have started over and have implemented many of the steps that this model represents. By creating a strategy, system, skill, style and staff to help make their needed change an effective and successful one. Dominos have administered their change step by step with each of them steps being part of the 7-S Framework model. The model help show how an organization can perform and what should be done to reinforce those performances. Its duty is to identify what needs to be realigned to improve and maintain the performance during the change. I consider it to be a useful outline of how to be focus and make sure that things are being done properly. Dominos conducted a strategy to make a better business and a better recipe for their pizza. They planned to achieve the by creating products and services that will be better for the company and its completion. This will give them more pressure for their competitors. They have a system and structure that explains how the change will be conducted. They have assigned particular duties and roles for each person employed and every department. They follow behind the staff and skill element of the 7-S Framework model. Target journey of change did the same as Dominos. The restructuring, new process and new systems that are occurring in their business can be understood by using the 7-S Framework model. Every impact of change should be taken in full consideration. Before Target implemented their strategy they had to take into account all the other elements. They realize by no paying attention to at least one of the elements of the model, they may suffer with all of them crashing down. Target has set their actions that will start them off in a good way. They developed what they will do making sure that they maintain the actions given. Their choice to expand and add more product and service to their brand was part of their strategy. The way they chose to structure, style and staff their change all works together as one. The decided to build the excellent team member by given support and the right amount of training. Target carefully organized its people, their task, how they behave and how they develop its people. They have stuck by its overall long-term vision and its values. By staying true to its company will present and shape an outstanding destiny for their company.

S.W.O.T Analysis

People use the SWOT analysis to help have a better understanding of a individual or companies Strength and Weaknesses, as well as identifying the Opportunities and the Threats they may come to face. This will help you be able to distinguish yourself from your competitors and your rivals. Companies should do this to remain and compete successfully in their market.

S- Dominos is a large, well known company and one of the leading pizza delivery company. They have developed a strong brand and heavy advertising. By adding more selections and variety to there menu goes against their competitors. They listen to customer feedback and find ways to correct the problems. They are leaders in online and mobile ordering.

Target is a well-known company following Wal-Mart, for its great discount rates. They have one of the highest rates in diversification. As Dominos, they have increase their availability of product put in their store. They have different types and brands of store. They put focus on their team members to better then and their company.

W- Dominos increased their variety but didn’t add more thing that people like such as organic foods. They offer discounts but at times it can be very expensive. The tone and atmosphere of their store can be better. They do not have sit in part like Pizza Hut.

Target is focused on meeting the needs of the all time American and not so much on an international level. They have not took on their completion and made things less expensive for the consumer. There is an increase in certain brands being sold out.

0- Dominos has the opportunity to make them bigger than every. They should make more location in all tremendous locations with high traffic. They have the opportunity to offer more healthy things that will appeal to the eye of others. They could have added more low carb and gluten free products. Their special promotions and mobile application sales will have a good increase in their numbers.

Target also has the opportunity to expand bigger that what they have already done. They should attempt to think outside the box and do things that their competition will not.

T- Dominos biggest threat is their intensive completion that is always looking to be better. They face a threat with their consumers. They are changing their habits that are towards healthier food. Having many employees being employed all over different countries may face some encounters with social media.

Target they a very tough completion with so all the different discounted store. Much of them share the same place of service as well as sell the same product around the same price.

Areas of Resistance

Change is necessary to improve the effectiveness of an organization. It is certain that people in the organization may resist changing because some things are considered as a threat. Some resistance that was encountered was whether or not to add the products. Both companies are leading companies in their field. Resistance may occur for many reasons. Dominos may feel that they shouldn’t attempt to change their recipe because you never know how the consumer will react. Target can have the same problem when it comes to their new variety of products. The risk of change may be seen as greater than any other risk. A resistance may occur with both changes by have employee turnover. Some workers may enjoy and accept the new ideas and some may not. When you are a company as such you have to think outside of your own thoughts. People may bring fear and threaten. They may even think that the proposed change is a bad idea. As long as the two companies communicate effectively things will be good for them.

Recommendations

I feel that both companies are at good standing. They have experienced positive sales and revenue over the past year and an increase demand in their customers. It shows that the customer spending habits have gain, which means that they are accepting the new change. I think that both companies could do a better job with advertising their new ideas and what is coming to their store. While conducting this research I have found great mount of information that I was not aware of. By having the consumer feel apart of the changes will increase sales and the overall business. Dominos should produce a hard investment in marketing with such things like coupons and special offers for a particular reason and time. This will not only bring money into their door but would help combat competitors. Target needs to always stay ahead of the game. By have so much competition they need to be aware of what it will take to reach the next level. They should stick with their goal with wanting to be a customer one-stop shop. They are going in the right directions and leading towards a great future but they cannot drop the ball.
