A Genuine Dream: Drive and Commitment According to Oprah Winfrey, She believes that “each of us has a personal calling that’s as unique as a finger-print and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you.” In other words, every person has their own individual unique traits that make them who they are and that anyone can accomplish great things. All these words kept going through my head as I thought about school and my future. The more I thought about Winfrey’s words, the more I wanted to find out. I never thought that to accomplish things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe if you want something bad enough, listen to your heart and gut feeling, tune others negative thoughts, and you can do anything you set your mind to. Step one is listening to your heart and fulfilling your wants and needs so you can reach anything you set your mind to, such as a dream. Dream is normally defined as a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person’s mind. In my own words dream means sticking to your morals, and sticking to the point by telling yourself that you can do anything you want, you just have to believe in yourself and follow your heart. My dream since I was a little girl has been to become a pediatrician, so I can take care of new born babies, toddlers and teenagers. On the other hand Strickland grew up in a poor, low-lying, inner-city neighborhood in Manchester, taking care of the house work, making sure their clothes were clean, food on the table and as well as keeping good hygiene. Although Strickland grew up in the ghetto where there was drug dealing going on, shootings, homeless people and so on an so forth , they didn’t have much money themselves, and he went to school not

Goverment

...Elise Garcia 01.03 Assignment July 9, 2015 Dear President Barack Obama, I propose that you use your executive powers to create another holiday in this country.  I would like to put forth the suggestion that a national holiday be created in honor of Jesse Jackson. A lot like you, Mr. Jackson was a junior senator before seeking to run for the presidency, although in his case the office of president will not likely be his legacy. It is for this reason and so many more that I think he deserves consideration for his own national holiday.  Mr. Jackson represents Americanism, both in its roots; that which seeks to succeed against all odds, often with little more than sheer will to achieve a dream, as well as a more modern interpretation of success  Jesse Jackson negotiated the release of 22 American’s in Cuba pursuant to an invitation by Fidel Castro.  It is no coincidence that Castro believed Jesse Jackson was a man he could trust, in addition to having written to Castro on several occasions, he had been a longtime associate and protégée of Rev. Howard Schomer, a well known leftist and communist supporter.  Mr. Jackson himself had a long history of association with international communist front organizations and terrorist groups. He also maintained a relationship with Hunter Pitts O’Dell whom Kennedy had urged Martin Luther King to distance himself from, due to his Communist Party Affiliation and key financial operative and party functionary with the communist party whom Jackson...

...How Couples Communicate (Resource: Secrets to Lasting Love, by Gary Smalley)Every relationship is a journey ... through five levels of communication … toward the desired destination of intimacy. This requires effort! Intimacy often does not come naturally because men and women are inherently different. Men tend to desire more independence, whereas women more social interaction. There are five levels of communication: | (1) CLICHES - Typical, routine, oft repeated comments, questions and answers given out of habit and with no real forethought or genuine intent. In “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” written by Ernst Hemingway, Harry and his wife Helen have a very peculiar relationship. While trapped on the Mountain of Kilimanjaro, Harry has a severe case of gangrene in his leg and is practically immotile. ...300 SECRETS 1. A life is a terrible thing to waste. So easy to beat yourself up over mistakes you've made. So many amongst us live in the past rather than loving the present and building a brilliant future. First of all, no one tries to fail or mess things up. Every one of us wakes up in the morning, walks out into the world and does the best we can do based on what we know and the skills we have. But even more importantly, every so-called "mistake' is actually a rich source of learning. An opportunity to build more awareness and understanding and gain precious experience. Just maybe what we could call failures are actually growth lessons in wolf's clothing. And just maybe the person who experiences the most, wins. 2. A world-class company puts systems in place to ensure consistency of results. If you want to get something done and if you want to see consistent results, build a system around it. Celebrate the previous days wins and then rededicate to work for the mission. Systems‛ thinking builds structures into your life so that your best practices actually get integrated into your life. Systems allow you to live in a proactive rather than in a reactive way. And having a bunch of systems in place to keep you at your best doesn't mean that your life will be overly structured and full of stress Because nothing deprives a human being of happiness as much as seeing a life being wasted. 3. ABC. Always Be Connecting with everybody, everything around you. The best leaders build strong...
