...an assignment in the GCU classroom so that you are aware of its requirements and the expectations of your instructor. Look for the following cues: • What is the objective of the assignment? • What are the elements of the assignment? • How will the assignment be graded? • What are other considerations for completing the assignment well? The purpose of this worksheet is to guide you in “decoding” any GCU assignment. Assignment Instructions: Review the sample syllabus and sample rubric under the questions below. Then, provide answers underneath the following questions: 1. How do the objectives assist a student in completing the assignment? Objectives assist students by explaining a clear expectation of what knowledge will be gained at the completion of a specific topic. You then understand the point of completing certain tasks outlined in a topic because the purpose is geared towards completing the objectives. 2. Describe what needs to be done for the assignment found in the sample syllabus? To complete the assignment outlined in the sample syllabus, you need to first read the required chapters (1, 2, 3 &6) in the specified textbook and review the lecture notes for the specified topic. After that, 3 components that you feel help form a worldview need to be identified. These are subjective, and are derived on what you have taken out of the required reading and lectures. Then using the 3 components, you are to write a 500-750 word essay...

...Survival Guide Let’s Get Started On the first day of classes with Axia College, it is important to login and download the course materials and syllabus. I have found that by making folders under My Documents labeled first with the course name, and then inside have folders labeled each week 1-9 where I save the relevant materials for the weeks work. After downloading the files to the appropriate files, it is best to break up the syllabus. I like to copy and paste each week of the syllabus to a word document filed again under the corresponding week. This makes it easy to access what is needed for the week. It is also important to download the course calendar to keep a closer watch on when assignments are due. By looking at the course calendar at the beginning of each week you will be able to manage your assignments accordingly. After reading through the course syllabus and downloading course materials the next step is to check the main forum. The main forum is where your instructor posts information about what changes may be made for the week and also posts the weekly discussion questions for you to answer. In the main forum only the instructor will post topics. This is the area in which we as students post replies to the teacher and also our classmates. These posts are the only ones that apply to your weekly participation grade. It is very important...

Each lesson would begin with prayer that is meaningful for students and pertinent to current local and global occurrences. Where possible prayer should incorporate references to Church teachings and lived experience that relates to the content of the unit. Prayer should capture the themes of peace for the individual and the world in line with the outcomes of the unit. 2. At some stage in this unit Catholic teaching on justice and peace should be integrated into the study. For...

...The closest I ever got to writing a “college level” paper was last year in my AP Language and Composition class. I quickly realized that the papers we wrote in that class were nothing close to the papers we wrote in this class. All the papers written in this class had to be much more detailed and required more components than the past papers I have wrote. The most challenging part of the transition from high school papers to college papers is the length of them. I was not used to writing 3-5 page papers and it was hard for me to do that to make that change. I think the most important thing I learned about myself this semester is that I am capable of writing at the college level. When I first started this course, I imagined myself receiving C’s or lower on my papers and how hard I was going to have to work to improve my essays, but after I got my first essay back I was shocked at the grade and I...

Introduction One of the most important things to remember about any job interview is that its main objective is to allow for an exchange of information between both parties (applicant and company), so that a determination can be made as to how well the applicant fits the position/ company and/or vice-versa. As the applicant, you want to impress upon the employer how your background (i.e., education, previous employment/volunteer positions, extra-curricular and hobbies) matches the requirements of the position they are recruiting for. Your résumé will have given them some indication of how well you match, but during the interview you are expected to expand on this and be able to demonstrate strong communication skills. Your communication skills (oral, written and non-verbal) will be evaluated closely and are expected to be well practiced. Other skills critical to the position/company will also be evaluated, so make sure you have done research on the position and the needs of the organization...

Abstract Assessment tools are used in classrooms, by teachers, to help them learn the many student differences. It is important for teachers to discover the different interests, ability/intellectual levels, achievement levels, and personality types of students so that they can effectively instruct students accordingly. Some assessment tools (tests) that have been found to help teachers discover these differences are Student Interest Survey for Career Clusters, Brigance Early Childhood Screen II K & 1, Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities, Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement, TerraNova/Cat 6 Test, and Millon Adolescent Personality Inventory. Interests 1. The Student Interest Survey for Career Clusters is a survey that is used for those exploring careers, or can be used by students for educational purposes only. The survey assesses students on their interests by having them answer questions by circling any and all of the given choices that best describe the student. This survey is fairly extensive, as the same 3 questions are asked 16 different times, but the list of answer choices...
