The closest I ever got to writing a “college level” paper was last year in my AP Language and Composition class. I quickly realized that the papers we wrote in that class were nothing close to the papers we wrote in this class. All the papers written in this class had to be much more detailed and required more components than the past papers I have wrote. The most challenging part of the transition from high school papers to college papers is the length of them. I was not used to writing 3-5 page papers and it was hard for me to do that to make that change. I think the most important thing I learned about myself this semester is that I am capable of writing at the college level. When I first started this course, I imagined myself receiving C’s or lower on my papers and how hard I was going to have to work to improve my essays, but after I got my first essay back I was shocked at the grade and I …show more content…
The biggest challenge I faced this year was traveling outside the box to write some of these papers that did not require a lot of research but I also liked how they made me think outside the box because they helped me become a better student. The process I used to write an essay depended on the type of essay I was writing. For the literacy narrative essay I found it easier to write an outline of my story and then fill in the details. For the evaluation essay I found it easier to do some research on the object first. For the literary analysis essay, I found it easier to annotate the story and then write an outline of the topics I wanted to write about. For the argument essay, I did all my research and wrote down the main points I wanted to write about then found quotes, examples, and facts to prove my argument. The essay that was the most difficult to start was the argument essay because there were so many things I wanted to say and I did not know which one to start with

Annotating the articles became easy since it was mostly SOAPS TONE and this will really help on our AP Exams since we use SOAPS TONE to write the rhetorical analysis essay. This assignment will really help us on improving our writing since so you can only write so much about an article in four sentences so it helps us work on our usage of word choice. It is really interesting that trend of hockey players’ birthdates was relatively common, and amongst other sports as well. I never really understood that cut-off dates played a huge role in a person’s success, but that success isn’t just because of their birthdate, it’s because of the extra bodily maturation, the extra instruction, and the extra time spent perfecting a talent. My brother was born in July, and I’m now interested in seeing what his path will be, athletically. Gladwell really touches on how society chooses to ignore the fact that a child’s birth month ultimately determines if they make it or not. After this premise was found, there should have been some discussion about making the chances even. Gladwell’s language and word usage makes the book an extremely easy read, and his breakdown of different topics keeps the reader intrigued and also ready to move along to the next circumstance.
