The County of Riverside new Low-Use jail will contain three levels of security, and these levels will be extending from minimum to medium. The task force will design and implement these levels of security to keep the prisoners isolated from each other. Crime offenders will be segregated and classified after assessment of inmate’s risks and in accordance with security requirements the program needs. During admission process, offenders will undergo sequence of evaluations which include mental and medical health condition, social background, offender’s crime, education, job skills, and work history. Based on these facts provided or gathered by the prison’s staff, the inmate will be confine to the most appropriate classification of custody or security levels. Our minimum security prisons will have non-secure dormitory type housing with reasonable low staff-to-inmate ratio but routinely patrolled by officers. It has its own group shower and toilet area and it is a double bunk with lockers. Generally the prison is a single perimeter fence with no armed watch towers, but will be inspected on a regular basis. Because these offenders pose the minimum risk to safety of other, less supervision over prisoner’s movement inside dormitories will also be implemented. Inmates under minimum security level will have a work and program oriented environment where they will usually involve in community work assignments such as maintenance of road with the supervision of Department of Transportation employees. They can also participate in transition programs with community volunteers. Medium security has double fences equipped with electronic detection system and armed watch towers. Secured dormitories but the same set up for toilet, shower, and bunk. The dormitory will be lock-up at night with direct supervision by the correctional officer. Work and self-improvement
