Leadership AHA! Moment

I have worked at my job for going on four years. The company has continuously hired and fired people since I have been there, as far as the management go, I call it “The District Circle of Life”. The staff in which I work and interact with the most with is the Community Assistants (CA). A Community Assistant job combines being a Leasing Agent and a Resident Assistant into one job. The staff consist of twelve student workers that either attend Texas A&M University or Blinn College. We give tours of our property to prospective residents, handle legal documents, organize the office, and put on events for the residents that reside at our property. During this past summer, my job had its biggest turnover within our staff that I have seen in my couple of years of employment. We lost three out of five managers and lost seven CAs. It was not the smoothest transition between the old and new personnel, but we made it through it. Everyone has been able to mesh and get along pretty well for the past few months, except one manager, Jerry! Jerry is our twenty year old Resident Director for the property. His main responsibilities are the Resident Life Program at The District and the CAs. The resident Life Program is mainly ensuring all residents are happy, scheduling socializing events and handling roommate conflict. He is technically considered the boss of the CAs. He is younger than majority of the staff so you can kind of assume what kind of problems he runs into. The CAs refers to Jerry our little brother because he often messes up. The veterans on staff have a hard time taking him serious because we are more knowledgeable of the property and his job than he is. He often comes and asks us how things are supposed to be done or was done in the past. He is very strong on accountability and
