...Have you ever been in a very tough life or death situation? Brian had a lot of aha moments through the book Hatchet. There were good ones, and there were bad ones. The good ones were crucial for Brian to survive, and the bad ones were tough. I picked the two aha moments Brian had that I thought were the most important to survive. One was very crucial to getting out of the wilderness and the other was an important wilderness lesson. Now, I will be talking about the fist aha moment I found. A one about wisdom. In chapter 18, the text says, “The hatcher. He might be able to cut or hack with the hatchet…” This aha moment was so important because without it he probably would not have been able to get in the sunken plane. Then, if he did not get...

...The journey through the RN-BSN program has been full of experiences that help me to recognize and comprehend the role of a professional nurse. The first “aha” moment that I had was with the Transition to Professional Nursing course, when I had to think for the first time what was my personal philosophy of nursing, that made me realize that being a nurse is not just a job for me, but a part of myself that I embrace with all my being; I am very proud to say that I am a nurse. The second “aha” moment that I had was with the Nursing Research course, it helped me to understand the importance of evidence-based practice and its role in our profession, with the help of EBP new recommendation for the care of the patients are made. The third “aha” moment...

...As a child my parents always stressed the importance of education to my siblings and me; never did they allow us to place anything before education. Till this day, at 30 years of age, education remains my number one priority. I believe that knowledge is power and the more you know the more you grow. It is my goal and mission to provide others with the knowledge they need to help them grow and flourish in this world. I love that “aha” moment a person has when they finally understand what is being taught. It is those “aha” moments that motivate me to continue on my path to become a teacher. My interest in this program was sparked when I visited your site and read: Are you: • A current or aspiring teacher who wants to learn the latest and best methods to teach young people to really learn in a digital age? • In need of a teaching certificate or license? • A mid-career changer and ready to make the switch to pursue a new or lifelong calling? • A Veteran who wants to apply your skills and accomplishments in the classroom? I am everything on this list and I believe that I am a great candidate for this program. Because I am a full-time employee, a wife and mom, and a member of the United States Reserves the fact that this is an online teacher preparation program I believe I will better succeed at it. Also, there will be occasions when I have to travel with the Air Force so the flexibility of an online course will best suit me at that time. I hope to learn how to teach in...

...with a specific answer. I truly believe I am still trying to figure out what my style is and how I am able to know that is actually the right answer. I have certain aspects of dance that I enjoy exploring and working with, but I am unsure if that is what identifies what kind of modern dancer I am. I am interested in all of the different techniques we have been working on this semester, along with working with partnering, and improvisation. I think I move in a very bound and direct way, finding release from time to time. I like...

...Reflective Essay Two I have learned a lot from being at NCOA from the past week. II am going to take this vast knowledge back to my work center and hopefully I will be able to improve the work environment there. We covered a lot I am going to discuss my “aha” moment, what I have learned from individual projects, and what I could change about my leadership. My “aha” moment was when we covered the four lenses. Especially when we learned what the four colors mean. I realized that by me being and orange I am very outgoing but I am also a gold and green. The orange and the gold are opposites and the green I tend to ask a lot of questions and panic over small things. Based on this lesson I realize why me and my supervisor tend to not get along its cause he is a blue and I am an orange. He is a true blue too he wears his emotions on his shirt sleeve. He is also very much into family. What I have learned from individual projects are that I can apply the lessons learned here to the reflective essay from last week and what kind of leader I perceive myself to be. While writing that essay was hard for me cause it is really hard to judge yourself. Plus then you have to perceive how your subordinates perceive you. I tried to be biased in that and it worked out I found that I am not much different than the other NCO’s in my. What I could change about my leadership is how I approach diversity. I have to take in to account the temperament of people, I have been bad about that in...

...Maurice Mitchell Jr. November 19, 2012 ALED 340-902 Leadership AHA! Moment I have worked at my job for going on four years. The company has continuously hired and fired people since I have been there, as far as the management go, I call it “The District Circle of Life”. The staff in which I work and interact with the most with is the Community Assistants (CA). A Community Assistant job combines being a Leasing Agent and a Resident Assistant into one job. The staff consist of twelve student workers that either attend Texas A&M University or Blinn College. We give tours of our property to prospective residents, handle legal documents, organize the office, and put on events for the residents that reside at our property. During this past summer, my job had its biggest turnover within our staff that I have seen in my couple of years of employment. We lost three out of five managers and lost seven CAs. It was not the smoothest transition between the old and new personnel, but we made it through it. Everyone has been able to mesh and get along pretty well for the past few months, except one manager, Jerry! Jerry is our twenty year old Resident Director for the property. His main responsibilities are the Resident Life Program at The District and the CAs. The resident Life Program is mainly ensuring all residents are happy, scheduling socializing events and handling roommate conflict. He is technically considered the boss of the CAs. He is younger than majority of the staff...

...Problem: A number N is called “nice” if a square can be dissected into N non-overlapping squares. What numbers are “nice”? Why? Problem Solving Process: During the entry phase I wrote down the number n is called nice and n can be cut up into nonoverlapping squares. For the want to know section, I wrote which squares are nice? Since I missed the first day of working on this problem, my group understood that only perfect squares were nice and we went right into the attack phase. For example, a 2 by 2, made 4 squares within itself. So we wrote down that 4 is a nice square. We thought for this problem that only integers can be used, meaning we could not use non whole numbers, when dissecting the squares. So we continued to dissect a 3 by 3, 4 by 4, and 5 by 5 and found how many squares can be dissected in them. In my free write I said, that next time we would try and analyze our data and see if we can see a pattern with what we had written down so far....

...Aha Moment- After having a strenuous few days, Holden has come to a realization about what he wants to do with the rest of his life. While talking with Phoebe about failing out of Pencey, she brings up the point about what he will do if he does not continue school. Holden stops and really thinks about this and all of a sudden has an idea, “That’s all I’d do all day. I’d just be the catcher in the rye. I know its’s crazy, but that’s the only thing I’d really like to be”(Salinger 225). Although this idea sounds crazy, it must mean something because The Catcher in the Rye, ended up being the title of the book. It is also ironic that Holden wants to do something that helps others because he needs the help of other people to help him through his problems. This is a significant realization for Holden because now he can have something to aim for in life instead of being depressed all the time. Aha Moment- There are two occasion in the book where Holden has came up with a plan to move to a secluded place and to never be bothered by anyone. The first time this plan came up was when Holden was on a date with Sally Hayes. Out of nowhere Holden wanted Sally to run away with him to a...

...myself academically. When I was a kid I didn’t realize that loving school wasn’t considered cool, and by 6th grade I went from being strange to being bullied. I am ashamed to say that I was so driven by a need to be accepted by my peers that I tried to hide my love of knowledge. I tried to blend in, but it didn’t work. Every time I attempted to be a part of the crowd the bullying got worse. Looking back, I remember being terrified. I was afraid of going to school every day because I never knew what the other kids would do to me. I lived like this for years after I graduated elementary school. In my junior year of high school I...

...me, which excites my innate curiosity even more. I, however, had never thought about pursuing computer science as a career until I took an AP Computer Science class in my senior year. It sparked my interest and changed my thoughts after seeing what I could do with some simple line of codes. Despite many countless times staring into the monitor trying to figure out how to solve a problem, those “Aha” moments were more precious and exciting for me. For every minute like that, I was exhilarating and smiled as if I have just won an Olympics’ gold medal in a 100-meter racing swim lap. It fed my hunger for exploration to see what else I could do, maybe something beyond my imagination. Computer science gradually became my hobby in my senior year. I searched many online resources to finally find CodingBat, which allowed me to expand my Java knowledge. These experiences slowly pulled me into the course of a new career, computer science, and at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro pursuing a degree in computer science can provide me knowledge and skills to bring change to people’s daily lives starting from mobile application. I want to be a part of this evolution of technology and I hope to meet other creative, friendly, and ambitious people. My dream is to start my own business partnership during or after college and develop it into a successful company. Even if I am not fortunate enough to hit a great idea, I still hope to create friendships that will last my entire...

Reflecting on this, Descartes concludes that “there are never any sure signs by means of which being awake can be distinguished from being asleep.” This leads him to doubt almost everything that he believes on the basis of sense perception, including his belief that he now has hands. The dream argument tells us that sensory are not trustworthy bc what makes you think rn that you are sititng at a classroom? Well, music, etc. But if you are dreaming and feeling these sensation but not actually in a room that shows you that sensory experiences are not reliable. The second argument is the evil genius arguement a God powerful enough to deceive us, which is very similar to the dream argument. What tells us that 2+2=4. That aha...

...Teaching Statement One day, each year, my students walked into the classroom to see winter had exploded there. Snowflakes hung from the doorway windows, silver tinsel garland adorned the Promethean Board and whiteboards, soft white lights shimmered along the trim of the room, cool-hued decorations dotted all other available surfaces. In the course of two class periods my room had become a winter wonderland of learning (pardon the corny sentiment). I greeted each class warmly as they entered and were enveloped by the soft glowing lights and sweet cinnamon scented air. Even my most cynical students were delighted. The pleasant change in atmosphere served multiple purposes. Not only was it a fun way to welcome the season, it also set...
