Through the actions people display determine the character of a person. Life is full of decisions and the application of those choices become the mold of character. It is like your roots are grounded then covered with dirt. Waiting for the right conditions to emerge, showing the flower you were meant to be. It was no secrete the conditions African Americans had to endure in 1908; just forty-five years’ earlier slavery was abolished. In Howard university twenty brave black women decided to create the first black sorority. The unity of black woman was in high demand and those twenty pearls fulfilled that need. Confident women gaining respect with the force of a strong sisterhood empowering each other to blossom into an exquisite pink tea rose. The Alpha Kappa Alpha women stands for unity of educated black women helping to uplift their fellow sisters in addition to serving others in their community to ensure the leader of tomorrow could have a chance at going to college. I believe in the founders mission of woman empowerment within the pursuit of education. Being a business management major in my sophomore year I have learned the importance of presentation. Advocating unity among women is something I take pleasure in when speaking at MELANIN meetings. While in National Society of Collegiate Scholars, I grew into a leadership position on e-board as treasure. Imagining anything is possible when you immerse yourself into your goals this made my accomplishments attainable. If given the opportunity I will uphold the morals that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority represents. Always representing each letter knowing that I represent the ones before me and project that image to ladies who see me. If selected, I will know the honor of being a part of Zeta
