...The Broadway show American Idiot takes its audience on a journey through the trials and tribulations of 3 young men growing up in America saturated in media and unsure of just who they truly are. The musical is an extravagant display of visual media, dazzling the viewers and leaving them wondering how to divide their attention among all the different things happening on stage. However, despite this strength, the show lacks character development as well as sufficient plot motivation. The plot of the show is easy enough to describe. Three boys, dissatisfied with their humdrum suburban existence decide to hit the road and find something out there more exciting than their hometown. However, Will (Michael Esper), one of the boys is sidetracked when his girlfriend Heather (Mary Faber) informs him that she is pregnant with his child. The other two boys, Johnny (the main character, played by John Gallagher, Jr.) and Tunny (Stark Sands) leave Will behind and head off to make their way in the world. Soon Tunny enlists in the army, and Johnny gets hooked on heroin, creating an alter ego named St. Jimmy (Tony Vincent). As the show goes on, Johnny falls for a woman named Whatshername (Rebecca Naomi Jones), but their relationship is destroyed by St. Jimmy, or his addiction. Tunny loses his leg in battle, but gains love in the form of a woman named The Extraordinary Girl (Christina Sajous). Heather gives birth, but ends up leaving Will due to his alcoholism and general apathy. Eventually...

...1. This essay suggests that an "American Idiot" is a perosn that relies on the media and gives into emotional tactics. For example, someone who pledges allegiance before they understand much of anything about America. It is somebody who just does what everybody else is doing. 2. An example of contextual analysis is when you were describing the cover of the album and how the music within inspired your emotions. "Widely considered one of the best anti-war protests of 2004, the album came complete with the picture of a hand gripping a bloody heart-shaped grenade. While the cover gave me an idea for one of the shoot's best photos, it was the music within that gave voice to my anger and consoled my relentlessness, assuring me that I wasn't the only one that believed so passionately that our country was on the wrong track." (page 1, paragraph 4) An example of textual analysis is when you analyzed the term "Redneck Agenda" that had been previously mentioned in the essay. "The 'Redneck Agenda' might also be referring to another favorite punching bag that Armstrong hits in many other songs on the album (most notibly 'Jesus of Suburbia'), the religious right wing of the conservative party." (page 4, paragraph 1) An example of word analysis is when you analyzed the word, "faggot". "while the word 'faggot' is a slang, derogatory term for a homosexual, it has also been used to define anyone who refuses to fight or be 'manly'". (page 3, paragraph 3) An example of a sentence analysis...

...the estate. For many years, Vanya and his niece Sonya, have been looking over the estate that belonged to Vanya’s sister, Maria who is also the first wife of the Professor. Meanwhile, the Professor and his young wife, Elena are living in city off the earnings of the estate. Retired with no job, he is simply a mooching cradle robber who needs constant care by Elena or Sonya. In the play, it is clear that he is no longer the brilliant man that he was once was. Naturally, the Professor is selfish because he has become extremely dependent on others due to his old age. He requires a lot from those around him and gives nothing back. Simply he is a burden as demonstrated in his own words to Elena “You are quite right, of course. I am not an idiot; I can understand you. You are young and healthy and beautiful, and longing for life, and I am an old dotard, almost a dead man already. Don't I know it? Of course I see that it is foolish for me to live so long, but wait! I shall soon set you all free. My life cannot drag on much longer. (Chekhov)” This does not only apply to Elena but also to Sonya and Vanya. Throughout the years, they looked after the Estate and contributed to the wellbeing of the Professor for nothing. Uncle Vayna said it perfectly “For twenty-five years I have managed this place, and have sent you the returns from it like the most honest of servants, and you have never given me one single word of thanks for my work, not one--neither in my youth nor...

...students (with consent) visiting the museum and asking about their knowledge on art. Fran Smith’s article, “Why Arts Education is Crucial, and Who’s Doing It Best” on Edutopia.org speaks about how art can apply to educational benefits for students to expand their potential. Honesty holds an important quality in life. Honesty means being truthful about a person instead of starting rumours. Being honest means admitting to lying about something, no matter how stupid, like a little boy forgetting to flush the toilet when clearly, the little boy was the last one to use the bathroom. Linda and Charlie Bloom in their article “The Cost and Benefits of Emotional Honesty”, speaks about how feeling like an idiot applies to honesty: “It's a small price to pay to feel like a blundering idiot while we are learning the skills of emotional honesty.” A student who had cheated on a test and then notified the professor of cheating also signifies a sense of honesty. Honesty comes throughout all types of art and proper usage and credit should...

... But one day, there was an incident that changed my view on "what things". It was at noon, I was going out to eat with colleagues and we met him in the elevator. Because it was lunch time, the elevator was overcrowded as usual. When the elevator stopped at the main floor, there were a lot of people waiting outside to go up. As we hurried out of the door, I saw “what things” was standing by the door with his finger pressing on the button. When all the people went out, he still remained the same posture. I thought he was going to the garage downstairs but then I discovered that the elevator was ready to rise. I was so curious that I looked what in the end he wanted to do. “Does he forget something; ready to return to the office? What an idiot.” I talked to myself. I saw that he waited until the last person went into the elevator. Then, "what things" loosed his finger and dragged out of the elevator with his tired and motionless face. Suddenly, my colleagues and I looked at each other. Since then we call him...

Callie Came back. “HURRY UP AND GET IN THE BOAT,” I said. “THE TSUNAMI IS A MILE AWAY AND IS COMING UP 40 MILES PER HOUR,” said dad. “Okay, the tsunami is coming so everybody get ready for the crazy ride,” said mom. “HERE COMES THE TSUNAMI!” BOOMSACALACA! “We are riding the waves of the Tsunami,” I said. “I’m scared,” said Callie. “It will be ok, soon it will be over.” As we rode the tsunami we saw a guy on a big ship. “Please we need a bigger boat can we get on your boat?” asked mom. “Sure,” said the man in a creepy voice. ZOOOOOM! The man left us here on this little boat. “HE’S AN IDIOT.” I said. Hours past and finally the tsunami was over. “We need to find land.” “I see it,” said Callie. “See what?” I said. “I see land.” “She’s right,” said dad. “IT’S THE SAME ISLAND THE JUMANJI ISLAND.” “Everybody start paddling, we need to go to the island,” said dad.” We were finally there. ...My Reflection Essay Can someone please help me edit my reflection essay? Thank You Very Very Much! This reflection essay is based on my presentation on July 9th. Four day ago, on Thursday 9th July, 2009 my partner Rachna and I gave a seminar at St. Josephs Secondary School and I wanted to take a minute to reflect my experience. My seminar topic was about examining the imagery that appeared in the play Hamlet. A skill I developed was using technological equipment to present a presentation. Each group had to pick a topic that was in their interest to research online for information. The requirements started with presenting the information in front of the class informing the audience what imagery means and discuss using concrete examples from the play. This presentation gave me the opportunity to work with PowerPoint and Excel and then to present my information. I believe that in order to communicate effectively with the audience you have to have a well prepared presentation that will capture their attention so that you can present your ideas clearly. A skill that I had trouble was to be able to work as a team. The imagery seminar was a great opportunity for me to develop my team work skills because we were put in to pairs to complete the seminar. Each member in the group had specific responsibilities to the team in order for the seminar to be successful. Being in the group to work on the seminar was a great experience for me because I was able to see where my strong...

...he never listens treating everyone as if they were beneath him, “Wit’ dem pop eye she gat, her ma musse pity frog or goggle-eye fish.” However, initially it was obvious that the man was going to get exactly what he dissevered. His first downfall was not being able to have a child. He tried his hardest to be able to do so yet luck wasn’t on his side. As any man can say, being remembered as the guy who can’t get his own wife pregnant isn’t a good way to leave this earth. Regardless to the sorrow I feel towards him, I still believe he deserved worse. Despite him being the big disgrace of the town the years which he made girls suffer wasn’t enough. When the Mama Farida warned him, “Poor fool, yuh married B’er Gaulin,” but he wanted to be an idiot refusing to take her seriously. However, in his defense he loved this girl for many years, because of this when it came to hurting her he couldn’t bare the thought not to mention if he slaughtered her. Sad to say, his wife and the other Gaulin didn’t feel the same as they pecked at his eyes, tore his clothing and finally...

...ideals of the young and upwardly mobile. Often it is seen as both a help and a hinderence to those politicaly minded individuals living in the past, who just don't like that sort of thing. Hold onto your hats as we begin a journey into apples. Social Factors There is cultural and institutional interdependence between members of any community. When Sir Bernard Chivilary said 'hounds will feast on society' [1] he failed to understand that if one seriously intends to 'not judge a book by its cover', then one must read a lot of books. A child’s approach to apples provides standards by which we may judge our selves. Special care must be taken when analysing such a delicate subject. On the other hand anyone that disagrees with me is an idiot. It breaks the mould, shattering man's misunderstanding of man. Economic Factors Derived from 'oikonomikos,' which means skilled in household management, the word economics is synonymous with apples. We will begin by looking at the Maiden-Tuesday-Lending model, a lovely model. Annual Military Budget apples Indisputably there is a link. How can this be explained? In spite of the best efforts of The World Bank the annual military budget plays in increasingly important role in the market economy. Many analysts fear a subsequent depression. Political Factors Posturing as concerned patriarchs, many politicians guide the electorate herd to the inevitable cattle shed of 'equal opportunity.' Comparing international relations...

I feel that, yes, Angie has a right to say what she wants on her Facebook page. Everyone should have the freedom of speech. I also feel that one should take into consideration the consequences and effects it may have on you and/or others, depending on what was said. Opinions and actions are two different things that should be taken into account when giving information publicly. The text did not state the exact reason that Angie was fired. Was it because she called her boss an idiot or because she called in “sick” when she actually had a hangover? It is Angie’s opinion that her boss is an “idiot”. Was it ethical of her to make that remark, no, but do not think that would be grounds for termination. As far as her calling in sick, it was irresponsible of Angie to put herself in a situation knowing she had to work the following morning. If a company fells the performance of its employee is being jeopardized because of irresponsibly acts then, yes, I fell they have enough reason to fire...
