There are many factors that affect children’s development such as their growth, sleep, diet, their medical condition such as disease and illness and most of all the environment. The environment is a place where children grow up and also the place where their learning begins. An enabling environment is outdoors as well as indoors where children are provided with space, resources, displays, accessibility and stability. These are designed to help children’s physical, emotional, mental and health and well-being. An enabling environment is where a child feels unique and where their learning is supported. The environment helps each child to be “a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured” (EYFS (2007) …show more content…
These areas of learning in which they have to achieve by the time they get to school. An enabling environment helps children to develop those areas of learning and also develop their skills as well as new ones. The outdoor environment involve children to have freedom and space, it gives them the chance and opportunity to explore nature, use their imagination and be creative. They have the chance to take risks but in a safe and secure environment. Being outdoors helps children to be more co-operative, confident and able to play with …show more content…
Children should be given an environment where they can experiment and explore. Children need space to play and an environment where they feel safe. A leaning environment includes a construction area, sand and water, home corner and home-play area, junk modelling, paint, outdoor area and malleable materials.
To enable a child’s physical environment, we need, as practitioners, provide children with opportunities to explore, take risks, learn from the natural world, care for the environment, see things from a new perspective, climb, balance, build their confidence from overcoming fear, physical challenges, pretend, imagine, get messy, cooperate with others and develop their 7 area of learning. It is outside that children can develop their skills and where they can take risks in order to learn through that.
