When I was about ten years old, my mom gave me a book of childrens poetry. I had not had much experience with poetry, considering I’d never read it in school, which was mainly where I learned about literature. However, I decided to give the poetry book a try, and I was amazed with what I found. I fell in love with many of the poems, and put them in a scrap book which I still have today. But among these poems, there was one which stood out to me: Hurt No Living Thing, by Christina Rosetti, which became my favorite poem of all time. While the poem is simple and short, it holds the beautiful message of respecting all creatures.
I’ve always loved animals, and protecting them has always been soemthing important to me, but as a child I wasn’t taking
