Reading Lydia's Story by Jan Brideau was a heartbreaking shock of reality - even today, with all of the technological and safety advances made since then, Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have still wreaked the same, if not worse, destruction. To those of us who are not personally affected by these disasters, it can be hard to completely understand what the hurricanes have done to residents of the affected areas.
Lydia's Story, while not even from this decade - yet still completely true to life today -, gives readers such as myself a different perspective of the hurricanes - that of the affected. To read a story of someone who actually lived through a hurricane, trapped in their flooded home, gave me a better grasp on what Harvey's victims are
