This was an unauthorized autobiography of Whitney Houston by Kevin Ammons who observed Whitney Houston’s life while dating her publicist Regina Brown. He observed a glamorous woman who let success turn her into a very troubled woman. In the autobiography Ammons talked about how Whitney had a close friend by the name of Robyn Crawford and that her mother, Cissy Houston felt that it was “unnatural” for the two women to be so close. Ammons also mentions how upset Robyn would become when Whitney gained male attention. Robyn was upset when Bobby Brown sent Whitney four hundred roses, and at the 1991 Super Bowl where Whitney sung the national anthem and M.C. Hammer appeared, him and Whitney went off by themselves, talking and laughing. Ammons also includes in this autobiography that his girlfriend at the time stated to him that one of the condition in working for Whitney was not to bring up Robyn. These statements mentioned in Ammons autobiography tends to make the media and readers believe that Whitney Houston had lesbian affairs with Robyn Crawford, and this is what caused her to develop a drug problem that soon resulted in an early death.

This MTV news article by Rob Markman was written the following day after Houston was pronounce dead on February 11, 2012. The article entails Houston’s discography and how she was the first and only pop artist to have seven consecutive number one songs on the Billboard Charts. Markman gives a timeline of Houston’s troubled life from 1992 when she married Bobby Brown until her time of death. In the timeline for each year, Markman also mentions Whitney Houston drug abuse and her troubles with the law because of it. The article does state that she sought help by entering a drug facility for rehabilitation. Markman also reveals that in 2006 Houston filed for divorce from Bobby Brown, and later gained custody of their daughter Bobbi Christina.

This is a website that depicts current events and news, and due to Whitney Houston’s death USA TODAY did a story on her in honor of her memory. Written by Steve Jones, USA TODAY talks about when Houston was born, how she started off as a model, at the age of 20 was signed to Arista Records, and how 2 years later came out with her debut album. Jones reveals that the music industry was nothing new to her because we learn that Aretha Franklin was her godmother, and Dionne and DeeDee Warwick were her cousins. Jones tells us in the source that Houston died in a Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles seeing that the following day was the 2012 Grammy awards that she intended to attend. Jones tells readers how extraordinary she is because she is the first major artist who performed in South Africa for their newly elected president, Nelson Mandela, playing three show for 200,000 people.

Horowitz writes the article to describe the reaction of the church members of Houston’s native church (New Hope Baptist Church) on her death. The church pews filled and the members celebrated the life and legacy of Houston who had passed the night before. Pastor Joe A. Carter tells the congregation the work that Houston had done and praised her work, but told his congregation he loved when she sang praises to Jesus best. Pastor Carter tells reporters how some people live to be 80 or 90, but leave this Earth with nothing left for people to remember them by, whereas Houston left many memories. Horowitz lets readers know that Houston sang in the choir and lead many musicals at the 112 years old church with her cousins Dionne Warwick, and Melba Moore. Horowitz and reporters spoke to members of the community and included their opinion of Whitney in the articles. There was one member who stated “most stars forget where they come from after Stardom, but Whitney never forgot where she came from”.

The TMZ staff reveal what Houston’s cause of death was based on the L.A. coroner’s examination. There was a belief that Houston died due to drowning but come to find out she died from RX prescription drugs. Her aunt Mary Jones laid out a white dress for the Pre-Grammy show, and left for an hour and half. When she came back to the hotel she realized Houston was out of the tub yet and discovered her lying in the tub and began to administer CPR. This is where the assumption that Houston drowned came into play but Coroner’s officials informed the family that there was no evidence of foul play and that there was not enough water in Houston’s lungs to consider stating that the infamous singer’s cause of death was drowning. The coroner’s believe the cause of death was due to Houston’s prescription drug Xanax and other prescription drugs being mixed with alcohol.
