Analysis of the language used by Arendt in the last paragraph of Chapter VIII, illustrates the skewed moral system of the Third Reich which allowed common citizens to become "monsters" in the eyes of others. Firstly, the use of biblical references reflects the skewed moral system. Words such as "thou shalt not kill", "temptation" are used to convey the normal, morally correct Biblical standards held in common society. However, in contrast words such as "thou shalt kill" are used to portray the standards of Hitler. By evoking the Bible Arendt proves what moral standards are typical.
