The use of value of light brings out more texture, making the picture look more natural. The artist uses low lighting in some parts and high key colors in other areas to make contrasts, and make the textures stand out. The texture is simulated in the puddle of water and his hair is simulated and also his clothes are simulated. The use of color is local.
