...Nicholas Patrick Markoutsis Mentor: Chuck Dexter Favorite Bible Passage: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 Confirmation was something I didn’t think would be as fun as I thought and it wasn’t it was even more fun, but it wouldn’t be as fun without my fellow confirmands, Pastor Mike, and my mentor Chuck Dexter. This year I learned more about God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, the Church, and myself more than I ever could have without confirmation. This year I learned that God works in very mysterious ways and I know this because before my family moved here because we got robbed and that was why we moved here. I felt like I could not connect with God at my old church and ever since we moved here my understanding of the bible and my faith have grown tenfold. I believe God works in mysterious ways and the situation my family went through, helped our faith grow stronger. Because of the issues we faced, our faith is very strong. Now because of that I want to help others as much I can in any way possible whether it is a conversation or a lunch at McDonald’s because you’d be surprised how one little thing could mean the world to someone else. I believe that we each have a purpose. I believe that we all have God whispering in our ears. I believe that we all can push past the limits of our faith. I believe that we all can be more than who we think we are. I believe that we can help...

...Essay “The right passengers” Engelsk årsprøve 2014 ID:1x 15 Jens Kristian Hjernøe Bay - hold 1x En - Lærer Mikkel Nørholm Hersløv In the last decade there has been multiple clashes between cultures. The times has changed, technology has gotten the better of the younger generation, which has changed the very way we live our lives. This means the more traditional, religious people are outnumbered and stand to fight many cultural clashes, which they are losing more than ever. The text “The right passengers”, written by Waqar Ahmed, is a text that works with these issues, in a very interesting way. In these years taxi drivers get thrown in to unpleasant situations unwillingly, where they stand torn between culture and faith. Nadeem Riaz is out in his taxi, as were it just another day, he had just done 3 and half hours driving from JFK airport and keeping away from the police. He was in dire need of some customers. As it happens, he picks a couple, a Pakistani male, named Faisal, and a Caucasian woman, both deeply interested in each other, as they lie on the backseat having fun, driving a two-stop trip, very lucrative for Nadeem. As they lay there, Nadeem has bad feelings, as he feels it’s very in appropriate. As the woman leaves, Faisal and Nadeem discuss their actions and in a way their cultural differences. Nadeem is a man in his mid forty/fifties, he drives a taxi/cab for living. He comes from Pakistan were he lived earned respect and had a fairly good life. Although...

...Sixth Possible Serious Economic Danger for 2015 and Beyond A report by Sandeep Vete 1 DANGER #6: Collapse of US Dollar as world’s de-‐facto currency The modern US currency under the “Dollar Standard” is a FIAT currency but the underlined reality is that the world oil trade and the strength of US military backs the US Dollar. Source: w ww.beforeitsnews.com Demand for dollar is created by its “Petro-‐Dollar” status and mitigates the inflation to a large degree by distributing the consequences globally and not merely affecting United States. Essentially US writes the hot check and the world has to pay the bills. (When Will The Economy Collapse? 2013, July 24) This system is perfect till no one decides to twist the system like Iraq did in 2000 by selling oil in euros or Libya did by try pulling most of Africa off the...

...relationships too easily and you don’t know if you can really trust people and so forth. He described a misunderstanding with a business fraternity recruiter he met on the quad, who referred to him as a friend. In his head he felt that he was not his friend but an acquaintance. He got the impression that he was pretending to be like his best friend. They just met and had a brief chat about his journey to America as an international student. He did notice how friendly americans are how easy it is for americans to just say things that they really mean it. He feels Americans “ pretend to be friendly”. For instance when he gave his business card to the business fraternity recruiter and he says “awesome!”. In Germany it would just be thank you and not “ Awsome” because it’s an exaggeration to tahnk you. He noticed that feelings are exaggerated and not authentic. Compliments are so frequent and so ingrained in everyday life in the US. honesty is perhaps the greatest compliment, and that they find the American art of complimenting an exaggeration. There is a strong belief here that people in the US are superficial and thus their praise untrustworthy. Despite all the nuances in the American complimentary culture, one must consider it a compliment if you haven't been criticized." In other words, interpret silence as praise. Talking about the war to a german is a sensitive topic, even though many of the people directly involved in the war have already died and young Germans don’t really feel as much...

...Haugesund airport and took the plain to Stansted airport in London. I was very excited and had huge expectations because I had heard a lot positive about London before. When we took the bus from the airport to the hotel, I looked at the places we drove true. The houses were different from norway, a lot of them were made of brick. I could see already that london was a lot bigger than Stavanger. We came to a hotel, called Picadilly hotel or something, because the hotel was in a place called Picadilly sircus. Me and my mum were both tiard after the trip, so we decided to relax a bit this first evening. We took the sightseeing bus and looked at all the nice buildings, and for me who is interessted in culture (buildings, nature and so on) this was awsome. The bus trip lasted for about one hour. In the beginning of the trip it was light and we saw everything perfectly clear, we saw big ben, buckingham palace, and a lot of other increadablebuildings. After some minutes it became a bit dark, and it was so nice to be on the sightseen bus, it was beautiful. A lot of light from all the buildings and bridges and so on. It was really an amazing journey just to sit on that bus. After that bustrip the clock was around nine/ten, then me and my mum walked in the streets of london and looked at the nightlife. The clock was ten and it was already so full of life in london city. So...

In addition we have a risk-free asset (for borrowing and/or lending in unlimited quantities) with interest rate rf . We assume that all information is available to all such as covariances, variances, mean rates of return of stocks and so on. We also assume that everyone is a risk-averse rational investor who uses the same financial engineering mean-variance portfolio theory from Markowitz. A little thought leads us to conclude that since everyone has the same assets to choose from, the same information about them, and the same decision methods, everyone has a portfolio on the same efficient frontier, and hence has a portfolio that is a mixture of the risk-free asset and a unique efficient fund F (of risky assets). In other words, everyone sets up the same optimization problem, does the same calculation, gets the same answer and chooses a portfolio accordingly. This efficient fund used by all is called the market portfolio and is denoted by M . The fact that it is the same for all leads us to conclude that it should be computable without using all the optimization methods from Markowitz: The market has already reached an equilibrium so that the weight for any asset in the market portfolio is given by its capital value (total worth of its shares) divided by the total capital...
