...Company Overview In this plan, I will describe the process of creating a WAN for ACME Manufacturing. ACME Manufacturing has six buildings in different locations that need to be on the same network. Headquarters and the other remote locations of ACME Manufacturing share the need for constant communication with each other. Atlanta, Georgia, is the home of ACME manufacturing where they have another building across the street, their engineering facility. The other locations are in Phoenix, Chicago, New York, and China. Network Setup and Connections The LAN setup in Atlanta for the headquarters and engineering buildings will use a logical choice of routers and Ethernet cables. Using routers and Ethernet cables will provide speedy data transfer rates and reliability without costing ACME manufacturing exuberant amount money. The three distribution locations in Phoenix, Chicago, and New York will use satellite connections to their headquarters in Atlanta. The last connection is the manufacturing plant in China wills also use a satellite connection to connect to headquarters back in the United States. After to some thought of what topology to use, a star topology looks to be the best choice for ACME manufacturing. (See Figure 1) All locations will connect with headquarters by either satellite or T1. Headquarters as the central location of the WAN will benefit the network administrator by giving him or her more control of the network. ACME manufacturing benefit from...

...Acme’s headquarter located in Atlanta, Georgia and quickly expanding to China and then across the United States, Acme Manufacturing is a top tier company that in turn needs a top tier WAN network to help tie together it’s various locations. Along with Acme’s many other needs they also want to install a telecommunications technology like PBX or VoIP to facilitate interoffice communication. Acme Manufacturing wants to build its network on the principles of security and usability. The following is an outline of the recommendations for their WAN implementation for this company. Network Design 1. Topology The first consideration for Acme’s new network is the topology to be used. The Atlanta office serves as Acme’s headquarters and because the company is quickly expanding across the globe I believe that the star topology is the most suited for their needs. Star networks are easily expanded upon and doing so does not interrupt the other locations. Centralized administration is a strong selling point for this topology as well. A powerful mainframe computer and an array of Cisco Catalyst switches will serve as the network’s hub. Figure 1 below represents the proposed WAN topology: Figure 1- Proposed Acme WAN topology Figure 1- Proposed Acme WAN topology ATL (HQ) T1 T1 T1 PHX CHI CHINA NY ATL (HQ) T1 T1 T1 PHX CHI CHINA NY 2. Connection Types Acme should strongly consider leasing fractional T1 lines to connect its hub location to each of the offices in Phoenix...

...Three Case Study Questions Trina G. Stevens trinagstevens@bellsouth.net Part III of the Course Project for PM598 Nov10 Contract and Project Management Presented to Instructor Robert Davy of DeVry University December 5, 2010 RUHLING MANUFACTURING COMPANY QUESTIONS Question # 1: Why might negotiation be favored over competitive bidding in certain procurement situations? A buyer or a procurement section of an organization, or business might choose negotiation over competitive bidding when a project is small, not planned, or an emergency. There are some situations in which a buyer would favor negotiation rather than competitive bidding. For example, when the buyer is contracting for part of the seller’s services rather than a product. Also when there are ambiguities involved with the project. Another reason to use negotiation is when cost and risk cannot be correctly identified early within the project. Negotiation is used a lot when there are new, or unexpected ideas introduced to solve a problem within the project. Negotiation is usually cheaper and quicker than competitive bidding. Question # 2a: Considerations of Epsilon's alternative proposal: a. What is the applicability of a requirements contract from Ruhling’s point of view? - Assume that Epsilon will still make a profit resulting from economics of long runs and learning curves The applicability of a requirement contract from Ruhling’s point of view is that they would agree...

...Wide-Area Network Design – ACME Manufacturing Axia College of the University of Phoenix August 7th, 2011 ACME Manufacturing Company Overview One of the biggest challenges in technology today is creating a solution based upon a company’s needs while trying to be economical. ACME Manufacturing is a growing company that has 5 different locations throughout the world. Company headquarters is located in Atlanta, Georgia. Three distribution centers are located in Chicago, Illinois; Phoenix, Arizona; and New York City, New York; with a recent plant coming online in China. The company requires the following services to be available: * Network - Local and Wide-area * Voice Communications (VoIP or PBX) * Video Conferencing * Remote Access * Department connectivity over WAN (VLAN) The plan will be to interconnect all locations stateside and connect China into the Atlanta office allowing further contact with all other satellite offices. ...Growing Acme Fireworks Derex. D. Moore Instructor Shawn Grimsley BUS 311: Business Law June 30, 2014 Growing Acme Fireworks There is much to consider when expanding a business. How will you make, market, and distribute your product. Are you willing to take full liability for your product and understanding the legalities of what happens if your product is defective? Once that has been established, it’s important to make sure that your business dealings are in order. The strength of the contract and what all it entails. Knowing that the legal document is important more so when things tend to go downhill. Above all is deciding which type of business entity the company will select especially if the company starts out small and looks to expand. Which entity will best serve the growth of the company such as Acme Fireworks? Some years ago I watched a movie called fight club. The movie dealt with a ton of social issues. One of the characters worked for a car company that would fly out their employers out to the areas where there were car accidents. They worked almost as an insurance adjuster that would come and appraise a vehicle once it has been in a wreck and determine, based on the damages how much they would award the car owner. However in the case here the employees would view accidents all over the country and decide if it would cost more to recall the product or pay the total fee for the said accident. If the cost was too much to do a recall then the company...

Require all employees to participate and certify understanding and acceptance of these initiatives. c. Provide reporting and support mechanisms for ethics related issues. 3. Frank needs to be aware about ethical issues related to bribery. 4. From Frank’s point of view, there is a big advantage to him and to his company in providing bribes in form of entertainment to potential buyers. Acme Corporation is getting orders and in turn rewards Frank for his successful sales. There is also a big downside for such an unethical behavior. First of all, company is opening its self up to potential law suits, negative publicity and negative consumer reacton. Chapter 2. 1. In my opinion, there is an ethical issue with employer asking an employee to ignore personal or religious convictions. On the other hand, if the game with nude contents is properly labeled and marketed, there...
