I never gave much mind to going to college or even really getting my G.E.D., but it is weird how life can change what you think is important and your aspirations. Everyone has multiple paths that they can take the easy ones are rarely good for you. The more difficult paths are full of anxiety and many obstacles to overcome, but can lead to great rewards and opportunity. I took the easy path working menial jobs and partaking in general debauchery. For eleven years I was out of high-school never bothering to get my G.E.D. until I decided that I needed to grow and begin to head towards my future in education.

In order to get out of the hole I have dug myself in I needed to grow. Mike Rose author of Back To School attests " Cassandra

The Mba Decision Case Study

...7/29/2014 The MBA Decision - 1. How does Ben’s age affect his decision to get an MBA? A.) Age is a very important factor when deciding to go back to school. It certainly was when I decided to go back for my MBA at Gannon. I was 34 years only when I started this program and will be 36 when I hopefully finish. Ben is 28 years old currently and he has about 38 years more years to work as the problem states. Even if we take in to account the cost of the education and the time he still bound to make more money from the degree. If he continues to wait he will forfeit those years where he can get a higher salary. Therefore the total lifetime salary amount is lowered. Another fact that comes with age is the older one is the harder it is to learn and keep things in your head. I can personally attest to the fact that my memory and capacity to learn was much better in my teens and twenty’s than it is currently. The longer Ben waits then it can be harder for him to get back into the groove of school as well. Age also affects one’s ability to get a job. Even the age discrimination is illegal, it cannot be easily proven. Most companies will prefer younger and more dynamic individuals for hire in hopes that they can groom them for long term positions within the company. 2. What other, perhaps non-quantifiable, factors affect Ben’s decision to get an MBA? A.) This is such an important question as with everything life nothing is strictly black and white. Just like...

...The Synoptic Problem: What is it and can it be solved? The first three (3) books of the New Testament, Matthew, Mark, and Luke, are commonly called the Synoptic Gospels. They have gained this title because they are very similar to each other yet commonly different from John's Gospel. In fact, their similarities and relation to each other have created one of the most debated subjects in the realm of New Testament Studies. This area of scholarship has adopted the name The Synoptic Problem. Determining the dependence or interdependence of each Gospel then attempts to conclude, which Gospel was written first, and subsequently, which Gospel then used the other as a primary source, and if not what source was then used to compile the gospel in question. “Mark's Gospel is the shortest of the three, yet large portions of it are also found in Matthew and Luke. Additionally, Matthew and Luke share a significant amount of verses (more than 200) that are not found in Mark. The similarities include subject matter, exact wording, and even order of events. When material is found in all three Synoptic Gospels, it is referred to as triple tradition. The material that is only found in Matthew and Luke is called double tradition, or Q. Also, the material that distinctively belongs to Matthew is called the M tradition, while that which belongs to Luke is called the L tradition” (The) The content of M suggests that the community for which this gospel was written, as stricter than the others in...

Causes of Delinquency and Methods of Prevention

...and the average age of non-delinquents was 16.5 years of age. Furthermore, of the delinquents, most of their crimes were committed at the age of 14.84 years of age. The creation of the juvenile justice system in 1899 in Chicago was a way of dealing with this growing problem. Since then, the juvenile justice system has been very useful in helping to evaluate, rehabilitate, and if necessary, punish juveniles that commit delinquent acts. However, the issue of juvenile delinquency has continued to be a significant problem over the years and is not showing any signs of being eliminated. There are many programs and solutions available that show positive signs of success for preventing juvenile delinquency. Some of the programs include after school programs, mentoring partnerships, and educational classes on delinquency. These programs may help...

Employee and Labor Relations

...In today’s society there is a need for proper leadership rooted within all organizations. Statements are made such as that person is a leader: let's elect him or that person needs to be in charge (Sergiovanni, 2008). For this reason, ideas related to developing effective leaders or describing the qualities of an effective leader is constantly tossed back and forth and there is a lot of uncertainty. The questions that should be asked are: What makes an effective leader? What is the role of management in an organization? This is indeed a tough question. Context plays a key role in deciding whether certain approaches to leadership will be effective or not regarding the role that management plays in an organization. Thus, what a leader says and does to be effective in one kind of enterprise may look different in another. It depends on whether it is experienced in a legislature, on a battlefield, at a rally, on a factory floor, or in a school district (Johnson, 1996). As we look closer in the role of management in an organization we can see that effective leadership in today's society is being utilized throughout schools, churches, and technological enterprises. One example of proper leadership can be seen in the technological enterprise of Apple. Apple’s mission is not only to make money but to change the way individuals’ learn. The reason that Apple constantly shares with other enterprises is common managerial requirements that insure basic levels of organizational purpose, competence...

Bilingual Education

...Bilingual Education By C. Mori When I started my investigation about bilingual education I never thought the debate about it would be as controversial and passionate as it is. But considering the numbers of English Language Learners (ELLs) in the U.S. public school, approximately 5.5 million, which represent about 11% of total number of students, and the percentage of drop outs, about 30% of ELLs, it is understandable that public opinion puts some pressure on the U.S. public school system to adopt the most efficient and adequate system for this growing minority group. The number of ELLs abandoning school has remained high for a long period of time generating serious doubts about the functionality and effectiveness of bilingual education and other programs. Two have been the main reasons attributed for this desertion from classes: the low socioeconomic level of ELLs and language differences. In this context, dual language, one modality of bilingual education, is showing to be able to make students excel in their academic performance and revert negative statistics Currently, in the United States there are two major approaches about how to teach English to those children whose primary language is different from English. The first approach is by immersing them in English only classes. This program was first implemented in California with proposition 227 in 1998 and continued to other states like Arizona and Massachusetts where bilingual education was...

Criticizing the Modernization Theory

...Ramy Mostafa El Housiny POLS 310 Professor Ahmed Abd Raboh Term Paper Criticize the modernization theory using all available materials on modernization and its critique, providing your own opinion on how modernization leads to development. The way people, societies, and countries develop and interact with each other have a strong influence on deviance. Although societies may differ in appearance and way of life, they all have crime, religion, family structure, politics, and economy. The vast differences in societies are constantly studied and theorized. Grand theories, for example, are meta-theories that examine an aspect of society on a global or national scale. One particular theory of interest is the modernization theory. The modernization theory suggests that the main causes of crime are the repercussions of the rapid development and modernization of nations (Howard 148). The theory of modernization is composed of three distinct Parts: (1) Identification of types of societies, and explanation of how those designated as modernized or relatively modernized differ from others; (2) specification of how societies become modernized, comparing factors that are more or less conducive to transformation; and (3) generalizations about how the parts of a modernized society fit together, involving comparisons of stages of modernization and types of modernized societies with clarity about prospects for further modernization. (Defining Modernization) Part one explains that there...

Introduction

...Causes and Effects of Broken Family  Family is the basic unit of society. This is the most essential component of a country. Governance will only be effective if the citizens are properly oriented with good values and virtues, which is commonly taught by the family. A home is where a family lives. It may be alternated   to the word ‘house’ but a house is more appropriately   referring to the material structure, whereas ‘home’ refers to the intangible things that bind together the family members. It is the immeasurable love and care that keeps together the mother, father and their children. However, no matter how ideal a family in the terms of their relationship, there are still hardships and misunderstandings that will come along the way. It is just part of any relationship anyway. But, the sad part is when one of the family members gave up and the others have no choice but to accept and let go. Thus, the family starts to be broken. Broken family varies from numerous reasons why it had to be that way. But usually, misunderstanding starts from simple domestic quarrel that grows impertinently damaging the long-forged relationship between the family members. When a couple split up, it is the children that are greatly affected scarring them physically, emotionally and socially. The most common dispute between a husband and a wife is the financial issue. This is rooted when the father, which should be the provider for the family, can’t give enough money for the sustenance...

PRINTED IN ENGLAND AT THE OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS BY FREDERICK HALI, 76$ J 9 2/ PREFACE The writer of these pages makes no claim to be a historian, but he is concerned with the materials which go to the construction of true history. Occasionally he is led to revise the verdicts of historians on the ground of a renewed investigation of some isolated problem, or in the light of fuller information which has but lately become available. He hopes that he has done this with sufficient modesty. As a rule he has avoided direct controversy and has preferred a positive presentation of the revised position. He is well aware that when offered thus silently the corrections he desires to make are less likely to attract immediate attention than if he directly challenged fallacies which shelter under honoured names. But he writes from mere love of the subjects to which he has been drawn by the circumstances of his position and by local patriotism ; and he has experienced more than once the temporary blindness pro- duced by the dust of conflict. On the other hand he asks for criticism, ...
