...The Excretory System of… The Blobfish Introduction Described as the world’s ugliest animal in 2013, the Psychrolutes marcidus, or infamously known as the blobfish, is one of the most infrequent animals ever seen by a human. The member of the psychrolutidae family dwells specifically around the coasts of Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania (as indicated by the image on the right). At this fathomless level, the female blobfish is able to lay around 1000 eggs at a time. The blobfish is endangered due to fishermen using trawling nets, and for eating trash in the ocean. Its gelatin-like mass provides them with a density lower than water at such deep pressures. This body structure is very different in contrast to a human anatomy, especially including the excretory system. Which has endangered and destroyed many other marine animals. Blobfish live where other tasty creatures do also so, fisherman catch blobfish with other creatures. But don’t worry blobfish aren’t edible. So don’t worry about your mom cooking fresh blobfish for dinner with a side of shrimp! Blobfish are usually caught in the bottom of fishing trawlers. When a fisherman catches the blobfish they usually don’t put them back. However, every time an animal goes extinct it forms a new hole in the web. Blobfish also eat whatever goes into their mouths, because they don’t have any muscles. Because of their lack of muscles, they cannot swim around and look for food.
