...Have you ever wondered how much energy your family us in a day? In our world today we have all kinds of new knowledge and technology to help us save energy available for us. Some of this comes in the form of light bulbs and other is just to train family members to shut the light off when they walk out of the room. Either way with a product or by turning a light off we should all do our best to save energy. I believe this is a moral issue because some people just do not care how much electricity they waist or that by using certain products they could save our planet from pollution. Pollution is another issue that is big concern in our world today. The community where I live has a chemical plant not far from it and over the years there have been many struggles to get them to dispose of their wastes properly. This is our world and if we do not take care of it by conserving energy and limiting pollution what will it be like for our children and grand children? Will there even be a world? Will there be diseases worse than cancer? These issues I believe are more of moral issue than anything else and it all comes down to respecting others as well as our homes and environments. To solve these issues I believe that there should be training available in the schools, work places and communities. Factories that have chemicals or cause any other kind of pollution should be punished for not obeying the laws and regulations on dumping wastes. Every employee should be made to take part...

...For my blog entry, the topic that came to my mind was insomnia. Insomnia was the first thing that drew my attention when thinking about mental disorder. Personally, insomnia had an effect in my past, which will be stated when concluding this blog entry. The article examines the controversy of insomnia, symptoms, and what the causes are for the mental disorder. “Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep easily, or remain asleep throughout the night, or waking too early in the morning” (Jim Folk, Anxiety Centre). The controversy here is that insomnia requires a number of hours a person needs to sleep; statistically the number of hours was about 7-8 hours to get enough sleep. That number could differ depending on what age the individual is. What this means is that the older the person is, the less sleep they would need. However, the lowest number an individual would need would be 6 hours at least. Most people have occasional nights of restlessness, which is okay. On the other hand, a long rest is not the best scenario because it may lead to diminished memory, depression, headaches, impaired concentration, and an increase in risk of substance abuse. The answer that everyone is so keen to find out is what are the causes and conditions of insomnia. There are numerous reasons to how insomnia happens; consuming coffee or any type of caffeine, extended computer work, and etc. There are many more conditions that could cause insomnia, but the main reasons are mentioned above. There...

...stuff and trusts Barton’s decision making. Next, the question “What are we doing in the area of Web 2.0?” was mentioned in the leadership team meeting. Bernie Ruben, Director of the Technical Service Group at IVK, forward an email attachment to Barton a few days earlier. Barton said that he received the email but he hasn’t had the time to review the report. He would discuss about it in the next meeting. The second situation in the case study was about the report from the email attachment that Barton received. The report was about social media and briefly mentions about blogs, YouTube, Facebook, and social networking. Barton found in the bottom section of the report a list of people within IVK who were participating in “Web 2.0 Revolution.” Some things on the list were links to blogs. Barton clicked on one link and it was about one guy’s experiences working in the customer support center at IVK. The author of blog mentioned about an...

...How blogs work? http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4586053_a-blog-work.html#ixzz2l4F8HL96 Inner Workings * Bloggers begin their work by logging in to a Content Management System. This is the inner workings of the blog, where the writer can create new posts, edit old ones, manage user comments and set up the blog's look and feel. Blogging tools such as Wordpress and Blogger have slightly different systems, but their main functions are the same, allowing writers to manage their blog through an online interface. While Wordpress's software can be hosted on any website, both services provide web hosting for bloggers who need it. http://www.slideshare.net/MrsMoss/how-do-blogs-work-3234197 * Different blog programs have different features, but they all do essentially the same thing. They convert your text into an HTML web page (otherwise known as a blog post) at the click of a button. You simply type your blog post, add links or images as desired, and click a “publish” button, The blog application will then publish your post onto the web, making it part of your blog. http://socialnetworking.lovetoknow.com/everything-blogging/how-do-blogs-work Blogs consist of a series of posts made by one or more bloggers. ...email a funny story, and even blog about the day’s events. However, are all these new writing outlooks improving this generation’s writing or is the prominent use of slang making it worse? This all depends on the person, what she is doing on the internet, and how she communicates with others. Although, most critics argue that writing on the internet does not improve writing skills, writing on the Internet can have both a positive and negative effect. Anyone can improve her writing simply by practicing. A healthy way to practice writing is by jotting down short stories, daily events, or just simple conversations in a notebook. Blogging is just like writing in a notebook, a collection of a person’s thoughts and ideas, except it is done electronically on the Internet. At first, a blog can start off as boring, mundane, everyday life stories, but as the writer becomes comfortable writing, the entries become more personal. A blog doesn’t exist to keep “an actual factual record” (Didion 81) of instances in someone’s life but rather her personal thoughts and feelings. More times than not, a blog entry is a reoccurring thought rolling around and around in the writer’s mind. The blog allows the writer to express herself and share her thoughts with others. Entries are written with “the power of language” to “evoke an emotion” (Tan 402) or to express an idea. In doing so, they provide food for thought for their readers, and the readers can either respond to the blog or add their own sarcasm...

Grassley, PhD, RN Robin Bartoletti, MS Online education requires nursing faculty to learn teaching strategies that encourage students’ interaction with the course content, their peers, the faculty, and the technology. The Web 2.0 technologies of wikis and blogs can help faculty direct online learning activities that encourage peer support, collaboration, and dialogue. The authors discuss these tools and how they were used to engage students in a nursing research course. ince the mid-1990s, increasing numbers of people have come to rely on the Internet as a convenient source of information and education. In nursing, the growing need for convenient and nontraditional learning strategies fostered a proliferation of Web-based nursing education programs. Since teaching online requires faculty to use strategies that differ from those used in face-to-face classrooms, nurse researchers have investigated characteristics of online education environments that facilitate students’ engagement with learning.1-3 Thurmond concluded,3(p237) ‘‘Good teaching practices are deeply rooted in the concept of interaction.’’ MancusoMurphy4(p257) identified interaction among faculty and students as ‘‘the core element of an effective online environment.’’ Researchers determined that peer support, collaboration, and...
