The book I am reading is called “The Reckoning” by Kelley Armstrong. It is the last book in “The Darkest Powers” series. The genre of this book is Fantasy.

In the first book, “The Summoning”, Chloe Saunders is an aspiring director and screenwriter. A few years after her mother’s death, things started to get better. But when puberty hits, Chloe experiences more than mood swings. She sees a ghost in the school corridor and tries to hit one of the teachers who was trying to help her. Chloe’s aunt Lauren, who is a doctor, sends her to a group home for mentally ill kids. She meets a few other kids there. Simon, who is pretty nice, his adoptive brother Derek, who barely talks, Rae, who strangely likes fire, and Tori, an obnoxious girl. Chloe thinks she has schizophrenia, but she begins to realize that she and the other kids have something much worse than a mental disorder. …show more content…
This group has taken these kids and genetically altered them. Chloe is a necromancer, who can raise the dead without even trying. Tori is a witch, and Simon is a warlock. Their powers are way stronger than anyone close to their age. Simon's adoptive brother, Derek, is a werewolf. Edison Group decided that they could genetically alter supernaturals, (people with superpowers) so their powers are less noticeable. Even to themselves. But when those powers get out of hand, they “terminate” the subject. (The supernatural they modified) Chloe and her friends are running away from Edison Group to find Simon and Derek’s dad. Their dad can help them defeat Edison Group. But the only problem is, their dad has been missing for almost 2 years
