The social work field is an example of a competing system because the profession deals with ethics and values instead of statistics and facts. The intellectual standards that are found in this field are breadth and fairness because they deal with different points of view that have opposing conclusions and the focus of success on others, both intellectual standards requiring open-mindedness, as does the social work field require.
For example, the intellectual standard of breadth is always present in a social worker’s life, mostly to analyze a situation with a different approach to figure it out. In my article, this is seen in the study that is done by the authors. Thirteen social workers are interviewed and each gives their personal opinion

...Strategic Position is how well an organization matches its internal resources and capabilities to its external environment. A SWOT analysis is helpful to summarise the key issues arising from an analysis of the business environment and the capabilities of an organization to gain an overall picture of its strategic position. This can also be useful as a basis to generate strategic options and to assess future courses of action. A SWOT is company specific as opposed to the Porters five forces which is industry specific. The aim is to identify the extent to which strengths and weaknesses are relevant to, and are capable of dealing with changes that take place in the business environment. Leadership

...Introduction of the relationship between leadership and ethics. First, leadership is a process that is not specifically a function of the person in charge. Leadership is a function of individual wills and individual needs, and the result of the dynamics of collective will organized to meet those various needs. Second, leadership is a process of adaption and of evolution; it is a process of dynamic exchange and the interchanges of value. Leadership is deviation from convention. Third, leadership is a process of energy, not structure. In this way, leadership is different from management-managers pursue stability, while leadership is all about change (Barker 2001, p.491). In organizational terms, as in life in general, ethics are beliefs about what is right or wrong, they provide a basis for judging the appropriateness of behavior and they guide people in their dealings with other individuals, groups and organizations, managers are witnessing to those right and wrongs. (Khar, Praveen & Aggarwal,2011; Hansen, 2011). As Wines (2008, p.484) commented: ‘At bedrock, those who profess ethics believe that human beings are autonomous moral actors capable of making meaningful choices’. 6Approaches to ethics tend to fall into one of two philosophical camps: the consequentialist (teleological) and the non-consequentialist (deontological) (Pettit2003; Harper et al, 1996). Consequentialists argue that ethical values are meaningless unless they are actively promoted. For consequentialists...

Eia Process

...EIA process Resources Screening Scoping Prediction and mitigation Management and monitoring Auditing Public participation Managing uncertainty Techniques Final report - Environmental impact statement The EIA process makes sure that environmental issues are raised when a project or plan is first discussed and that all concerns are addressed as a project gains momentum through to implementation. Recommendations made by the EIA may necessitate the redesign of some project components, require further studies, suggest changes which alter the economic viability of the project or cause a delay in project implementation. To be of most benefit it is essential that an environmental assessment is carried out to determine significant impacts early in the project cycle so that recommendations can be built into the design and cost-benefit analysis without causing major delays or increased design costs. To be effective once implementation has commenced, the EIA should lead to a mechanism whereby adequate monitoring is undertaken to realize environmental management. An important output from the EIA process should be the delineation of enabling mechanisms for such effective management. The way in which an EIA is carried out is not rigid: it is a process comprising a series of steps. These steps are outlined below and the techniques more commonly used in EIA are described in some detail in the section Techniques. The main steps in the EIA process are: • screening • scoping • prediction...

...dependent variable in the study is job performance and the independent variable is the Ability Job Fit i.e. the match between an employee’s ability and the requirement of his job. Our data collection method is unstructured interview and questionnaire. A sample of 10 people was chosen for the study by non-probability convenient sampling method. The sample includes 5 employees of both multinational as well as local companies. The result shows that a high ability job fit is the most important factor behind an employee’s job performance and thus contributes to the field of organization behavior. Thus I found out in my study in a non-contrived setting that a cause and effect relationship exists between job performance and ability job fit (keeping other things constant). The Role of Personal Values in an Advanced Perspective of Total Quality Management

...some lists of values present in literature, and summarizes them in a more comprehensive list. Then it follows the definitions of these values according to some philosophical models, and the analysis of their implications in the business life in general. Thus, tries to explain the relation between them and the principles of TQM, passing through the two mediating variables passion and trust. Findings: A model of quality management based on personal values is proposed. Research limitations: The lack of empirical data that can validate the model, and the lack of specific hypothesis of investigation. Practical Implications (if possible): Considering the emphasis placed on personal values, the model can have some practical implications in the field of recruitment, promotion, and leadership. Originality/value: The model fills the gap between personal values and the principles of Total Quality Management, being the first attempt to present a comprehensive model of interactions. A novel framework that can provide a basis for further research into the profound nature of quality management has been proposed. Furthermore, some implications that should be useful for recruiters and managers are discussed. Short biography of the author Mr. Moccia is a Lt.Col. of the Italian Army. ...edu Walden University February 5, 2011 ABSTRACT Breadth This Knowledge Area Module (KAM) broadens common knowledge of societal and cultural development by looking beyond economic and conflict theories for understanding other positions regarding social advancement. The Breadth Component studies societal and cultural development in terms of evolutionary, cyclical, and fundamentalist theories and demonstrates why it is important to looking beyond the popularly accepted knowledge about social development represented by economic and conflict theory. This approach provides a more robust generalization that more adequately describes social advancement, and concludes that classical researchers did not consider leadership as a social segment to be studied, that influences societal and cultural development. Leadership understanding of societal and cultural development is critical for enabling them to lead positive social change. ABSTRACT Depth The Depth section compares modern research in societal and cultural development to the theories of classical researchers in order to further develop the findings of the classical study, and to determine if leadership consideration has been addressed in modern times. The study shows that the theories of classical researchers are sufficiently robust to support a consistent, continued basis for understanding societal and cultural development into modernity. This study broadens the Breadth section presentation, and demonstrates that modern researchers...

Rawlsian Arguments

...Forthcoming: 72 Fordham L. Rev. 1857 (2004) RAWLSIAN FAIRNESS AND REGIME CHOICE IN THE LAW OF ACCIDENTS Gregory C. Keating* The political philosophy of John Rawls is pregnant with implications for the tort theory. Our law of intentional and accidental physical injury is rich with the rhetoric of reasonableness and fairness, and these ideals lie at the heart of Rawls’s political philosophy. The figure of the reasonable person is central both to the law of negligence—where it serves as the master criterion of justified risk imposition—and to the law of intentional torts—where it helps to define the contours of permissible self-defense, the sensibility by which the offensiveness of contact in battery is measured, and the content of the consent given in connection with matters as diverse as The concept of contact sports and medical operations.1 reasonableness figures prominently in strict liability as well. The intentional infliction of unreasonable harm triggers liability for damages in the law of nuisance, and strict liability in general can be fruitfully understood as a form of liability applicable when the conduct which leads to accidental injury is reasonable, but the failure to make reparation for the harm done is unreasonable.2 Principles of fairness figure more prominently in the judicial rhetoric of strict products liability than economic ideas of efficient precaution and efficient insurance do.3 * William T. We report events we think readers should focus on, and stories we consider to be important but not completely to follow market rules. " "Independent, exclusive, original" is always the rule that Caijing has been following. Then how the magazine implements the rule successfully is what this research is concerned about, because in today’s chaotic magazine market, manage a magazine in a specific way is a problem related to survival and development.
